Isn't it wonderful? All the people posting about this and that, whining about the fact that they can't log on, a couple of hours of missed training...I mean, it's not like all the whining will help anyone is it? will it lend the blokes at CCP some sort of extra magical powers or something? no, not likely so please just quit it

well the "blokes" as you call them....have released no news, no repair schedule, stated that the RMR patch was successful and gave no insights to the actual failure of implementing the patch.... So whining and complaining usually occur....

Well, it's common sense I tell ya...you may be living in some sort of twisted, magical fantasy world where everything is ****** dory, I am not...you should expect things like this, it's just the way it works...good or bad, whining won't help.
Call me an optimist.

I agree the apparently "arrogant" statements on the official site can be a bit hard to swallow sometimes but come ON !!! What DO you expect ? If it was your game you wouldn't put all your sharty pants on the line would'ya ?
Right : in order ...
(1) RMR content may be cool (2) I hate my crow going 1km/s slower (3) the lag is not good but EVERYBODY has it so either they fix it or lose money (4) they did the patch over a week before the holidays so (hopefully) their marketing guys just earned their salary (x50) (5) given a choice between WoW and tekken 3 (yes ladies 3!!!one!11!) which would you pick as a beat'em up ... = eve is STILL the BEST online game (6) now you can kill macrominers when they shoot back OMGWTF they meant that good job we had the BS fleet WHHOOOPPPPEEEEEE I enjoyed that ... etc etc ....
On balance : lag sucks now - they are working on it - the ends justify the means, otherwise why wake up in the morning ?

lol yeah guess you cant Use "H0nk3y" in different context as it may offend so many....roflmao
anyways...no...I was making a point that you are to expect complaining etc when no news is released....it makes people mad....see any world event to see the effects of reporters not giving the correct news ( They proclaimed a "successful patch" on the main log in page---and we know different....I felt they lost some integrity for that where as CCP used to admit faults---makes me wonder if they hired those guys from SOE.....

Then stop paying, or else stop whining. If you aren't willing to put your money where your mouth is, what's the point? It's not as though CCP is just sitting back and laughing at us. So how's about everyone relax and remember that a video game isn't LIFE, and that two precious days without it won't mean we all die.
Or, you can cancel your account and stop complaining. Either way, it's not helping anything go faster, so it's really pointless.

In response to all of the complaints about lag, I think it would be best if we all collaborated to develop a system for actually measuring lag. This system, once put in place, would easily allow for we, the many inhabitants of the world of EVE, to express how bad the lag is in a clear and concise fashion. I propose that this new scale of lag be measured in alcoholic beverages.
"But how would that work?!", I hear you cry. Well my friends, the answer is quite simple. You start drinking until you no longer notice the lag and record the amount of alcohol you consumed.
For example: Johnny B. Good logs on to eve one Sunday evening and notices that it's taking a while for him to undock. So, he opens his refrigerator, grabs a beer or two and starts drinking. Half an hour later, Johnny has consumed the entirety of a six-pack and no longer notices the undocking-lag. He complains to CCP and lets them know that he was experiencing a "Six-Pack Lag" while undocking.
Another Example: Humpty Dumpty logged on one day after a patch was deployed. He goes about his business soon to realize that he is experiencing dreaded gate-lag! So, Humpty does what any fellow would and starts drinking. Over the course of an hour or so, Humpty consumes three beers, a glass of vodka, half a bottle of wine, and several shots of whiskey. Humpty writes CCP letting them know that he's experiencing a massive "Three-beer, vodka, bottle-o-wine, whiskey*5 gate lag". Humpty then passes out and in all likelihood dies of complications.
You see? Now CCP will get a better idea of "lag".
:P
*Note, this post is not to be taken seriously...in the least. If you like it, use it, if you don't, I blame the lag, the media, the government, and Canada. Apologies if it offends/angers anybody.

Not this time, granted - but just look at all the threads man, this is a pretty big backlash from a pretty poorly deployed patch (I been playing a while, and I seen 'em all since Castor) - I remember lots of laggy patches with database "issues" but to date, this is the first that I recall rendering the game unplayable.
On the positive side, ccp have a lot of feedback about how this patch is going - the fact that most of it is whining (myself included) can give them some good info on how to handle future patches - mainly keeping us informed of how it's going, rather than proclaiming a bit of a shambles as a successful deployment.
I know I'm only echoing what someone else here has already said, but I also remember a time when ccp gave it to us straight when they were having snags, but reading the "red moon rising successfully deployed" article in no way prepared me for what happened (or not) when I tried to log in...
Just glad I listened when they said set long skill training! =]
