Wait, wait! Don't flame me!
I just noticed that EvE Gate is not blocked from my work routers. Diablo III and StarWars forums are blocked, along with every other game forum I know of.
So using twisted logic, Diablo III and StarWars are "more popular" as they get enough attention to be blocked by our network dudes.
Not that I'm complaining! I'm just wondering why? Why are EvE forums not blocked, but almost all other games are ??? |

Either let it go and enjoy having that access or ask the guys who actually manage it at your workplace and get it blocked. |

I didn't think of that. I know they had a tunnel to get to Noxxic so we could do Diablo III and Starwars builds. But they got a new manager recently and that stopped about a month ago.

The reason why Diablo III is block is because your IT guys think its ****. 
They also LUV EvE simple.
TBH at my work its blocked but I have a nice IT remote to home 
And then it happened. Massive, eerily green blasts erupted from seemingly nowhere, and an Amarrian Apocalypse went up in flames.-á

Tech answer pulled without prior knowledge... obviously D3/SW does not use HTTPS for their forums so the netadmin's protocol inspector catches and blocks that while it doesn't see the encrypted traffic of EVE.

However in starwars or diablo III once you reach a certain level the game is like the other games out their pointless.
Eve-Online on the other hand for training all skills to V from very first day is about 28 years, that keeps the game intresting :)

Last year my mother was being treated for cancer (she's clear now) at U of Michigan Hospital. I spent alot of hours there with my laptop, and was mildly annoyed with the filters. I could pull up game forums (here and others), but all game servers seem to be blocked. I tried Eve, Anarchy Online, Age of Conan, The Secret World, EQ 1 and 2, and even WOW. I would hate to be admitted there for any length of time myself.

Its also the reason eve-o gets blocked in some countries, simply because its not on the approved https list. |

Because it's not as well known as other bigger names so it does not get flagged as fast. As much as everybody here loves EvE, starwar and Diablo both ahve much bigger audience even if the game are not the same quality. Indie games for example rarely ever get blocked. Not released yet title from the big publisher can get blocked withing a week of the announcement. |

That is because Diablo III is a master piece of slapstick fantasy comedy on par with Time Bandits and The Princess Bride. With slick graphics and a balanced combat system it is everything to every man and again shows that Blizzard is number 1 at producing fun MMOs with no grinding, writing on par with the greats of literature and voice acting that really makes you believe you are there. |

Pretty sure starcraft and command and conquer is blocked but not EVE. It's not because of the genre of the game but it's overall "fame". EVE does not make the news in the same way the bigger publisher's titles do. EVE make the news when a 4k+ ship battle happen then we hear nothing about it for some time. Games like D3 make the news based on huge sales/advertising/launch nightmare.
Ask any random person around you wich one they know better ann command&conquer has more chance to win than EVE. D3 will also beat EVE.
In a few years after continuous growth, we will start doing stupid hipster jokes about how we liked EVE before it was cool and people won't question it because they didn't know about it. |

Battle.net (remember one of my WoW threads there got over 50,000 views alone on the old forums -- and it lasted but 2 weeks), the traffic through the router for a large company will be noticeable. WoW has to be one of the largest game forums in the world. Link a pic there and your site can get thousands of hits, and that's human traffic, not search bots.
