Their system is embarrassing... but here's the long and short of it: I go and start eve, splash screen comes up... then it all goes to hell. Textures are wonky, NO text is visible (just multicoloured bars where text should be) and I can't get TO the settings page to reduce the resolution :(
I think this is the problem: NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro
I have a FULL DxDiag report below just in case it helps- if you can help

Well my first point of call would be upgrading the graphics drivers from nvidia.com given they appear to be 20 months old.

Well, it's not THAT bad. AMD 800 MHz, and it IS running WinXp with SP2. Couple suggestions.
1) RAM - it's cheap and you don't have enough. 256Mb is the MINIMUM I'd recommend just to run XP. You got 192Mb. I'd upgrade to 512Mb. That's gonna cost $30 - $40 US, depending on where you shop. (Prices may varry by your region.)
2) Video Card - I'd do this after the RAM. You got an older 32Mb card. Upgrade to a 64Mb or 128Mb modern day card. Doesn't have to be top of the line, just less than 6 months old in design. An ATI 9200 series or an Nvidia 5200 series would work.
Cheap suggestion: those logs don't show your Hard Drive specs. How much free space do you have left? With the low ammout of RAM you have, the system is going to do a LOT of pagefile swapping. If your drive is severly fragmented, or nearing full, that'd hose you too. A simple defrag and clean-up of unneeded item to make more room would help. (You'd be amazed.) I'dactually start here and see if you have free room, and clean data.
Let us know if this helps.

My suggestion is Patience. From what I can see, you're trying to set up the game while the standard post-patch troubles are mopped up.
Kind of like having a highschool dance in the same gym at the same time as the local basketball championship.

I'd double check with motherboard manufacturer with regards to memory upgrade (if its a branded computer then check ask the company's tech support as it probably wont be a standard motherboard), if it wa purchased in the uk at pcworld then www.pcservicecall.co.uk should have the information. Also its probably the gfx card using 64 meg of memory unless someone has upgraded the ram which (doubtful).

they have 6 gig on their HD after WINDOWS takes it's chunk
there is about 2.5 gig free total after their programs are on and I set the page file to 750 meg - 1.5 gig.
I'm prolly going to upgrade their HD asap
I also OC'ed their CPU and FSB by 10%, still runs cool and stable. OC'ed their vid by 5% and forced it to 64 meg of video ram. No difference :(
I'll just give em one of my older ones next time I'm there- my oldest working PC is a 1.2 ghz AMD with a Radeon 7000 in it XD

Memory: 192MB RAM This is not a lot, I had problems with 512 MB, but now use 1 GB. 32 MB Graphics cards are ok, but bigger is better
Try smaller screen res than 1280 x 1024
I have tried playing on a similiar system, maybe youcould upgrade their PC for them, like better CPU, eg athlon 2500+, 512 MB ram, 128 MB graphics card... Spoke to local PC shop about getting a low power version for downloading updates and stuff, ú200 for a box that could do that and play games like eve.

The nVidia TNT card unsupported, it may work but will probably cause you a few problems
You will need to upgrade the graphics card, and it need not be that expensive. Look for something like a GeForce MX ot ATi 9500/9600 as they should be dirt cheap now. << Insert whitty sig here >>

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the minimum specs, directX 9. The TNT2, from memory, can't run any dx9 calls, I think it was dx6 or 7.

Edited by: Budz Fergie on 18/12/2005 11:19:01 The computer I built for my wife uses that same motherboard. It's running an Athlon XP 2000+ with 512mb 2100 ddr and a geforce 4 ti 4200 so that motherboard can be upgraded a lot. You'll need to upgrade the bios though, as that version wont run an XP core right but ECS has the update on their website.
