I think i'll second that. Pretty sensible and accurate imo. From my point of view,it's gotten to the point that the north needs to do the "boring stuff" to win the war.
That means taking down the atuk pos,blockading the pipe to mess with their reinforcements,camp them with an overwhelming force on an almost 24/7 basis and so on,give them a couple of fleet fights to deplete their ship supply regardless of kill/loss ratio etc.
It's no big secret that once an enemy is forced into guerilla mode it's actually quite hard to deal with. I'm not trying to discredit Atuk,since their tactics are pretty reasonable and i would do the same if i were in their shoes.
What kills alliances is a combination of low morale and a lack of fun factor.
If atuk are still what they used to be in the past,of which i have no inside knowledge and can't pass judgement on their current abilities,then shinra and m.corp leaving will not have any significant impact on their morale. If on the other hand the case is different,then a combination of boredom and lack of direction might set in,which coupled with 2 of their allies leaving could produce some bad vibes.
With regards to their operations,since they were pretty much alone up north for most of the time this also has no effect.
That leaves the fun factor to deal with. Currently they might have some trouble resupplying,depending on the level of hostile activity,but they are getting a lot of easy kills against careless people and some bigger fights now and then (at least by the looks of it).
That brings us back to the point at hand. In order to dislodge atuk the northern allies will have to spend a lot of time camping gates and stations with a ridiculously overpowering force to stop the north being fun for them. I know if i could roam around and kill some BS's everyday, with a little NPC'ing on the side to make some isk i would not be sad at all. If however i had a 100 ship blob waiting for me to undock everytime i logged in,i would look for a new playground. No flames intended at all,just some possibilities and my personal estimates on them.

Very accurate reply to my post blackdog and some good insight. At the mo I think the war is in no mans land so to speak, it will take some hard graft to win the war for either side.

Prime...one thing only i dont like in this game.
And its not of material nature (lossing money,ships or even stealing).

Post that started this thread , although "wishes GL to Mcorp and Shinra", also mentioned surrendering.

Those corps choosed the other way to enjoy this game and i wish them good luck....good bunch of guys even though I dissagreed with some of theirs actions and choosed my own way (ex Mcorp)

Well,i think this little discussion goes to prove my little theory about flaming. Most of it generates from ppl being bored to write some long posts with a bunch of "ifs" and "maybes" thrown in for impartiality.
I could have just posted in a single paragraph with bad punctuation,some stereotype wording along a similar meaning,with a bit of an insult twist and it would be 100% pure flamebait.
Example:
"Atuk are only ganking miners ohnoes,lol...they will run from our uber blobs and safespot in their pos when the going gets tough(though i won't admit i would do the same if i was behind enemy lines)Their friends don't help them and backstabb them,they are only a pirate infestation who docks and undocks all day long,unless its time for the 2pm ganksquad after school,lol...prepare to die"
P.S. I'm sure someone will miss the bolded,underlined part and the quote marks and flame me pretty soon.

M.Corp even tho once a member of 5 or CA i never saw em as that , yes i bought some at them on my other account , whenever i see that name i think of an independant corp doing its own and giving an extremely good service .
Im long lost in all whats going on atm but i do wish you well , youve handled my request very well , yer reputation is very strong and about listening to what yer corp wants .....thats whats makes a corp going , let them flmae you , let them call names ...most of them dont even have a clue whats sometimes needed to keep a group together , yes even splitting from something .
M.Corp has a very good rep . They also have to take care of day to day buisness and members lets not forget about that .

Mcorp have good directors...and if you not one of those that i admire , that doesnt mean you are not the person that will do good things for corp. I wont say why, cause you know why I dont admire you..I dont wanna gather public points.

Good luck M. corp & Shinra. I'm very unhappy with the recent turn of events as i will no longer to be able to fly with many old friends, however i hope this isn't a permenant issue.

Come on man, those are just the mails sent automatically.
Noone in any of the alliances, or just about anyone else who's head isn't deep in a hole, ALREADY KNEW those mails didnt mean MCorp and Shinra actually surrendered.
They were posted as the notification to us of what had happened (ie. M.Corp and Shinra choosing their own way), nothing more. Persh even stated earlier that noone from any of the northern alliances was claiming responsibility.
Leave well enough alone. No disrespect was implied from the OP. Whatever you INFER from it is your own problem, not ours.

Omeega, we had blackdog adopted to you so you can sell him over on e-bay. Why do you persist on throwing these stuff on us
Anyway, that M. Corp early vid was always my favorite one.
The Shinra guys pulled the Immensea thing very nice and in style (they all seemed drunk XD).
I rewrote this line 100 times. I just can't provide more comments.
