Put the butter knife down...
quote: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
<TomB> there are pirate stations out there. The pirate corporations some control up to region wide space where they have stations and military units. The stations defenses and the pirate military would take a look at your faction standing towards them before locking you as a target. If you have good faction standing towards them, they will allow you to dock at their stations.... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In your post jash u stated that i missed your point, and it went over my head. You maid this statement after my little rebuttle, while forgeting your little attempt at sarcasm. So let me explain it to you. The whole point of what i wrote was to only say "be careful of what u wish for" to those poster's complaining about pirates and concord being together. The reason i maid this attempt is because i believe that they do not understand what will happen to EVE once standings are inplemented.

Next time save the flippant remarks. I believe the moderator's call it trolling.

How about actually rotating the cops donut eating ships away from stations and warpgates to space nearby, for the swift expedition. You don't see cops crowding you at the cashmachine or cramming the bar waiting for something to happen do you? Their role is to protect & punish not to instigate.

Agreed to all of it, Ulstan.
The presence of both concord and npcs is a bad joke.
Actually all gate pirates are useless atm - the current ones are not even a danger for awell equipped into. They can do armor damage, yes, but not destroy one if the pilot has half a brain.
So: - Fix that concord + npc pirate presence - Get some REAL npc pirates for 0.0 sec gates. Before the ore patch there were sometimes cruisers at 0.0 gates - get them back! An indy traveling there should need an escort.

colla, there is no post count. So if you've got nothing but the repeated babbled mantra, we can read it on page 1.

"CONCORD and Pirates at a gate together is plainly rediculous, but I don't think the gate NPC Pirates should be removed, they provide a challenge for newbies and also good "mob" spawn point for target practise."
My God man, the pirates at gates are the *last* thing we want new players taking their first crusier up against. Why in the world would we want them to fight pirates in places where a stray missile, an ill timed smartbomb blast, or hell, just a simple error in targetting one + shaped icon instead of another will lead to the instant and total annhilation of all that they have worked for?

And that someone of a pirate corp. I'm impressed (and not sarcastic at all I might add).

See what I meant where I said it did nothing more than set a trap for new (or not new, but inattentive) players?

This player fired at a player at a gate, thinking he was a pirate, and got vaporized by the sentry guns.
Guess what? If there *were* none of these ridiculous NPC pirates at gates, the issue wouldn't have arisen in the first place.

It'll get worse. I know I took at least a full -1.5 faction hit to Republic Navy for missiles/smartbombs while fighting pirates around a stargate. I even knew it too. But I didn't give a damn because:
1) I have a Republic Navy Agent who'd clean it up for me in a few missions
2) There was no sentry guns in place to protect a stargate with more HP than the combined HP of a mid-sized corp's entire fleet

Quote: At this point, it is just wholly ridiculous to have them there.
They hang out with the Navy and Concorde, but Concorde does not shoot at them.
They hang out next to the Sentry guns, but the Sentry guns don't shoot at them.
All they do is send highly confusing messages to new players.
Oh, and they act as a little trap for new players as well now, with the aggression jump timers. The pirates fire, the player unknowingly fires back, and *voila* is prevented from jumping.
I cannot emphasize enough how absurdly LUDICROUS it is to come to a gate, see a concorde battleship and swarm of fighters there, see some sentry guns, be aware of the jump gate aggression lock, but STILL see some Guristas Arrogators hanging out there, merrily sniping away at any player that comes by, without the official forces lifting a finger.
The only other thing these pirates accomplish is to give more ships + containers that must be loaded at jump gates - which is one of the last things this game needs
It gives PC pirates something to do. Now that theres fewer player traders out in the outer regions.
