Hello All,
Just got back into exploring, and found my first hacking site. Was caught off guard as soon as I hacked the location, and all my loot was spewing off into space!
I snatched up what I could, but lost most of it. I was wondering if a tractor beam, if activated, would pull the containers to you, making it easier to grab stuff up.
I couldn't find any reference to this idea in any guides online, and I don't want to spend the time training the skills only to find out my idea didn't work. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks! |

Doesn't work. You can't target scatter cans and you can only tractor targeted items. Your ship magically has a single mini tractor that hoovers scatter cans one at a time when you click on them in space. |

Thank you for that info! Good to know I can single click. I will stop multi clicking everything! |

Wrong
You can target and can tractor beam them close to your ship, you have to click on them to scope the loot but the main point is that the cans that beamed in are very close to your ship thus your onboard mini beam can sope the loot at a faster rate. |

I'll have to test this myself, but it seems like the lock time for such a small object would exceed the time the cans are present. I can't imagine you'd get more than one, maybe two cans like that. Still, I'll give it a try tonite. ***Prodigal Frog***

I can confirm that the cans that are spewed (not the one you activate the analyzers on) can be locked and have a tractor beam activated on them. This pulls the cans closer for the mini-tractor to be used to scoop the loot. Generally I don't use this method for collecting cans, but it's a nice option when you're chasing a group of cans in one direction, but want to loot a can going the other way. Most of the time I'm too lazy to bother though... a pulse from a MWD does a good job getting into range of those last remaining cans.
I do think it would be a fun mechanic if the spew cans that have a tractor beam activated on them do not despawn... allowing a ship with several tractors the ability to snag cans (giving another reason to fly something other than a CovOps). |
