Up till recently IGÇÖve only ever used Min and Gal Drones, dependent on brawling or kiting fits, though are there are uses for Amarr and Caldari in PVP. (The only time ive used Caldari are for sentry Ishtar in PVE).
Additionally I know a few people who swear by ValkGÇÖs and Berserkers even when flying drone bonused hulls, although I never really understood if the speed and tracking is actually worth the loss in damage potential you get from Gallente drones?
Solely for pvp, if you have the choice of 1 full set, do you prefer to pick Min or Gall (or even Cal / Amarr) ? Would be nice to train a racial drone spec to V but not sure its worth more than 1 race, let alone 2. |

Hornet IIs can often replace Warrior IIs and have more eHP, especially on the shields, which when not destroyed can fully recharge.
The only use of Acolyte IIs I know of is to kill ECM drones: you see someone launch ECM drones and you launch Acolyte IIs as a counter. Once the ECM drones attack your ship will the Acolyte IIs kill them faster than Warrior IIs while still being pretty fast drones. Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling. |

My first set is almost always ECM drones. If I have room, a set of Warrior IIs follows that.
On a dedicated drone ship (say, the Arbitrator) where I can fit two sets of DPS drones in addition to ECM drones and warriors, I usually get Vespa IIs as the second DPS set. They're relatively quick and the pure kinetic damage is a great help against T2/T3 Minmatar resists.
Amarr combat drones are the "useless" ones, although their neuting drones are occasionally useful and their sentries are good. |

for combat drones, always use min/gal. ec- drones are technically caldari. only amarr drones worth using are curators. |

Depends on what i am flying really. If I take out something like a harbinger I will generally bring warriors and ecs.
In massive fleet fights I generally buy whatever is cheapest and pack those since they will most likely be left behind bombed etc.
The only ones I dont us in pvp ever are hobs. Acolytes arent as fast as warriors but are terrible speed wise. They just have **** damage.
Warriors can chase most things down.
Hornets track pretty good have decent speed and not so **** damage.
Warriors should be your default though for pretty much everything. |

My choice of drone generally depends on my primary weapon system. If I'm using ACs I generally roll with Gallente drones, since I can deal Explosive by switching to Fusion ammo anyway. If I'm using missiles I usually use Minmatar drones to help hit smaller, faster targets. If I'm using lasers I use Caldari drones so that I can deal Kinetic into T2 Minmatar hulls. I am also a human, straggling between the present world... and our future. I am a regulator, a coordinator, one who is meant to guide the way. |

Wow, thanks for all your replies,
Mixing them to fill in your damage hole (of its drawback) of your main weapon is a pretty cunning plan =). Caldari look like they could fit quite nicely to provide a kinetic type of damage for Min hulls (assuming your not using barrage). Although it does seems that the drones least suited to a any ship, are ones of the same race (as far as damage type are concerned).
Will have to try the amarr drone ECM counter too, sounds intriguing. Though not sure it could convince me on anything less than a drone boat with drone bay to spare, they seem to have far too many drawbacks =) |

The speed/tracking differences of the drone types are far more substantial than the damage type differences. Minmatar are fast and track well, Gallente drones are slow and track more poorly but have much higher damage and tank. Caldari drones are a mix between the two. Amarr drones are ****.
These all only apply to combat drones (light/medium/heavy) - sentries follow their own paradigm in which Amarr drones are actually useful. |

So against what class of Hull, do you think would Berserkers would actually apply more damage than Ogres?
Personally I don't find Ogres that useful vs anything below a BC unless they're stationary. Do Berserkers work on cruiser hulls in practice? |

Caldari drones are the best! They have the highest speed/damage ratio. They have largest shield pool. Tracking on them over all is great. If you use lasers you'll love the kin damage. They have the most balanced dmg type for running missions if you don't switch for each mission.
Amarr drones are pretty sad. The curator is great on a L4 Drone boat. |
