Yeah I kinda thought that too. And patrolled by Tech 2 Kittens to keep the Rats out.
However, if that's true: Given their size compared to the size of a battleship (with a crew of thousands) and given the number of them there must be whole planetary populations tied up living in the gates! ------

Hot chicks who have naked parties 24/7. That's why we're not invited.
On a serious RP note, I'm sure they're crews who are sent by the empires, or an independent organization. You'll notice that empire gates don't have crews; I assume the 0.0 gates do so that they can amke any repairs on them as needed. ________________________________________________

If there are people living in the Jumpgates then they would need O2, food, water, mechanical parts, electrical parts, etc. I think I see a new market opening up.

There are no bridges in space for the trolls to live under, so I assume they live in the nearest equivalent - the gates.

I knew that the whole "binary star system" "gravity wave thingos" was a load of BS... Chuck Norris roundhouse kicks could easily get a 1 million tonne starship to the next stellar system in seconds.

I did hear about some Jovian spyders, they make theyr webb and use it as a sling shot gun when you jump, sometimes its so sticky that ppl get stuck in it, then its called "stuck in gate" and you petition.
Then some Jovi ship flyes pass the gate and use hes anti molutar spray and you get free, i hope this helps out about your question.
