my comments on this post in bold:
Quote: -In EVE, losing your ship, or even dying, actually means something, contrary to WOW.
This is no longer entirely true, there are far to many older players & t2 *****s for whom death is meaninless. The only people for whom death holds any meaning are those that can least afford to endure it, usually at the hands of those that can most endure it.
- correct, for the T2 wh*res and ultra-vets, it's no problem. Just for 90%+ of people, losing a ship is often a massive setback, and you can't deny that.
Quote: -EVE is a lot more complex.
You never tried figuring out the end game content in WOW did you? Its just as complex as Eve. Eve is not as complex as people think, it just has a much higher learning curve because of a poor UI / lack of proper documentation / training.
- Higher learning curve... hmm, yeah, but not dues to a poor UI, the UI is fine. And please never claim WOW is as complex as eve, that just really does not stand. Tell me the last time WOW got a 4-page spread on an ingame action by a PLAYER.
Quote: -EVE's storyline is much better than the WOW one. And our environments change.
Eve has no real storyline. They threw that out as part of optimization ( buh-bye gallente swarms and fer gawds sake, a launcher on an omen... )
- .../me points at eve-chronices, scientific articles, intergalactic summitand eve fiction
Quote: -EVE has free expansions regularly.
As have been all of WoW's expansions to date...
- ...ignoring the new one?
Quote: -There are more people on the EVE server than on your WOW server. Single shard ftw!
Actually, Eve boasts about 17K concurernt users. Hellscream tops 26K on a nightly basis. last I heard 26K > 17K...
- 20k. And rising. Which is damn good for only 80k subsribers in total.
Quote: -EVE's got a more mature playerbase.
and that membership displays this by using a can flagging exploit to pod newbies in high sec space...
- one could argue they're newbies who're stupid enough to fall for it and are the kinda players that don't play?
Quote: -Space action is cooler than fantasy.
ya got me there...
- :P
Quote: -EVE isn't split into two sides that are at war with each other. (Not yet, anyways.) Our diplomacy is a lot more complex.
Theres diplomacy in this game? haven't seen it yet...
-...then start looking. (*ahem* try wars, alliances, sovreignity... etc)
Quote: -Wars in EVE are much more involving than raids in WOW. You can actually destroy other players property, and they won't get it back by running to their corpse.
Not everyone considers this a good thing kkthx...
- no, but it makes a deeper game
Quote: -Corporations are cooler than guilds.
you've obviously never met my guild...
- yeah, that depends on the corp/guild (though Corporation sounds cooler than guild :P)
Quote: -Level-free system allows far more flexibility in character design.
You're also extremely ignorant as to how the skill system works. The levels are there, just hidden better. ( t1 vs. t2 for example )
- but it means there's no real win-button, per se
Quote: -The largely player-driven economy is a brilliant emulation of cutthroat capitalism. Traders can actually make a living off their work.
Auction House is your friend...
-...well considering the manufacturers of Eve help drive the game...[/b]
Quote: -Money will enable you to hire mercs to crush your enemies.
/whisper sethian 5g to kill so & so works for me...
Quote: -Make money off in-game scams, piracy or corporate heists.
again, not everyone considers this a good thing.
- as before, it adds to the depth of the game[/b]
----------
i see where you are coming from, but eve *is* a deeper game and that is that.
