Has everyone already figured out that there's going to be a major RAM crisis soon due to the new way manufacturing jobs eat all the RAM instead of allowing you to repair?

did i've read on the patch notes ram are see by agent runner again ?
Quote: Tools used for T2 manufacturing such as RAM and R.Db's have returned as Agent mission bonus rewards.

Yes, Simon. I heard that, but don't think it's gonna be enough. Athough reducing the size of RAM would help a bit to help agent runners move them to buyers easier.
I predict a major shortfall before things get better.

Edited by: Mining Maxx on 19/12/2005 14:26:21 Hi,
Damn right Nalia. How many RAMs are you expecting to get from agents *constantly* Simon?
Just curious because with the only two t2 blueprints i regularily use i need 6 of those per day (each). Even if you would get decent numbers... not everyone can/wants to do missions 23/7 just to get them or sit at their factories all day to manage buy orders.
--- Reducing cpu load by changing facilities? YES! But a few aspects certainly were taken slightly too far (cancelling,ram/rdb waste,no bp overview,no batchjobs with *same* bp) |

I'd just like to add my view.
Hopefully someione from CCP can explain why this was done.
Given all the trouble they went to, ensuring that the POS system was profitable and providing a PLAYER LED ECONOMY for the construction off T2 components. Why now do we have this step backwards?
I don't mind them being given out as agent rewards, but I fail to understand why they would want to place the fortunes of the entire T2 economy in the hands of random agent drops. As it stands, I will need about 75 a week, every week.
I know I will have enough next week, and the week after, but what then? Do I ring my component supplier and tell him to hold my order till I can confirm how many ships I might be able to build?
For the T2 economy to function there needs to be a steady supply at a steady price. I can understand that the functioning of the new production system has no choice but to gorge itself on RAM's and DB's, but why can't you just let us build them from bpo insteady of relying on chance?

Then again, T2 industry operated based on agent drops before the POS took over, so it's not really that new. What's different now is the lvl 4 mission nerf, though. Kinda smaller pool of agent runners left to supply all the goodies. I'd expect it'll get a bit painful very soon, particularly combined with the morphite situation (ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Gogo big stockpiles).

I know the T2 Component Industry used to operate on Agent drops. CCP specifically removed that in order to properly develop the whole player run POS economy. That is why I do not understand changing the way the RAM's are used without providing a PLAYER CONTROLLED method of RAM production.
As it stands, the sole method of RAM and DB supply is the random agent drops. And that could lead not just to changes to T2 item prices, but to serious issues with the whole T2 component supply chain because there is no reason to order components in advance if you don't know if you can use them.
I'd just like to know if CCP are planning to provide other methods of supply in the future. Or perhaps just a comment that they will be keeping an eye on the rate of supply and it's effect on the market. ----------------------------------------------- IÆm not schizophrenic... ThatÆs my alt

Sometimes i even wonder if CCP has any knowledge of ECO 101 and the terms: insentives, stability, monetary policies. The current creation of free market player run economy seems to be created by pure mallet-nail process. Particularly the RAM problem is sure one big nail in t2 industry.

Maybe there will be so many RAM agent drops, that the T2 industry will not collapse. Maybe the cost for producing will raise, because they have to buy new ones for each item now. I think the only thing the T2 producers will have to do, is to setup buy orders near some heavily used agents.
Until now, there was no reason for an agent runner to sell this items, because nobody bought them. Now there is an demand, and the agent runners will see, that they get more money from selling them than from refining them.

Edited by: Deividas on 20/12/2005 14:45:44 actually, that has nothing to do with stability of supply, and since no stability, prices will go up, as you can't reach economies of scale witch such irregularity. What if mission runners will say "f* this, i am gonna hunt the new t2 spawns in 0.0 with good drop tables, their loot pays me more since missions are nerfed and are boring". What? You ganna sit on your t2 bpo or plan on selling items at 30%-100% the price they were sold before? :)

Quick bit of maths shows that if you do 1 run production of T2 items you will use less RAM as there will be at least 1 unit per run with a percentage of damage whereas if you do a number of runs in one go then this marginal damage will be added together and result in further complete destruction of additional RAM which is perverse

How is running agent missions not player controlled? The only real change with POS was that it potentially allowed T2 producers to take 100% of the profit for building T2 ships, instead of some of that money ending up in the hands of agent runners. To me moons are just agents that give a reliable drop.
I don't think you trust, in, my, self-righteous suicide. |

It's not really a question of a players choice of action. They can choose to do missions or not as they see fit. And I'm sure that many more will do so because selling RDb's and RAM's will increase the profit in it.
But there in NO player control in what the agent decides to give as a mission reward.
As for who gets the money, thats pretty damned irrelevant from my point of view as long as they can gaurentee to supply a specific amount at a specific price at a specific rate. Now if an agent runner can gaurentee to provide me with 75 Spaceship RAM's a week (minimum), every week for the next year delivered to my station, at a steady price . . . ----------------------------------------------- IÆm not schizophrenic... There is no RAM crisis - just pay the price and search a little bit in the diffrent reagion.
But if you think you can buy them for 30k .... Na, i refine them first.....

So far the only RAM i have from missions was from looting, very small amounts in certain structures. None as agent reward like the days of old. But maybe i havent done enough missions in RMR yet... or else someone screwd up big time.

RAM crisis?!
Stop whining. Adapt.
I have buying orders for RAMs in 5 regions. I get sold lots of RAMs.
All I have to do is pick em up and sell em high at the production area's. Its a new market opportunity for haulers.

Forget about doing kill missions. It is the courir missions that give R.Db and R.A.M. as bonus, and the courir mission runners really need this. That has been a profession in deep problems.

Deep problems?
LOL
I'm picturing it now... "oh dear shall I take the mission errr yes, now I fly from A to B and voila I get paid!" No offence I have nothing against mission runners and I've run a few thousand of them myself, but problems? It's not a particularly stressful career as they go

What i mean is, the courir runner profession has problems, not because of stressful missions :)Most of the time its too booring for a miserable pay, so no one want to do it. On the other hand doing courir in low sec. isnt risk free, and still low payment.

I don't think this gonna be a crisis. I am sure that the agents will give a valuable amount of RAMs as a reward for their missions. I can prove that because a few days ago, an agent from Caldari Steel gave me 16 RAM Weapon tech, just for to kill 1 cruiser and 3 frigates. Maybe CCP will increase the number of RAMs in the agent's rewards if there are problems with the supplies. Also i believe CCP are thinking on to set RAM bpos into the market directly or via R&D agents.
