With the advent of the battlecruiser changes is the Brutix seeing increased use? I used to build BC's about 6 months ago and the Brutix was always the slowest seller. Having built and equipped for myself one I realised why and promptly put it on the market within half an hour.
I remember thinking at the time; poor grid, nasty bonus by comparison with other BCs, handles like a hog in mud, signature radius of small moon with mwd on, I could go on..
So.. Brutix now useful? Are people using it for missions (and even PvP 0_o) now? Anyone got suggested setups for PvE (e.g. Lvl3's) or PvP, bonus points for having used it, rather than "you could theoretically fit this" :) |

stil has the same problems, kept more base grid.
oh, and igf you use 2 armor reppers, that 7,5 per level bonus shines. (and use passive taking for kinetik/therm and active for exp)

Edited by: Lilane on 20/12/2005 12:01:13 Brutix can now bit fitted decently, such as : 6 Heavy ion T2, a gang warfare module, and still having a "decent" tanking, cap regen, etc...
I think that Brutix is not the best BC, i could even say it's the "less good" of the 4, but at least it's now on the same power scale as others.

I used the Brutix before RMR and i liked it. Bear in mind BC is as high as ive gone so far(with my main) I've yet to try it post RMR, as im too tight with my hard earned bucks to buy one :p

Brutix is still crap. It's just an overgrown destroyer: No range, no speed, not enough armor or damage/sec to make up for it's lack speed/range. If it had a 50% range bonus to turrets like the destroyers have it would work as a specialty gun platform. As it sits now, it's junk, even with the new grid. And yes I have one.

Edited by: Mathias Orsen on 20/12/2005 12:13:34 Edited by: Mathias Orsen on 20/12/2005 12:12:43 I've always Loved my brutix for pvp. Taken on multiple feroxes with it, multiple times. Never could see why it is voted the worst of the BC. It's got a great short term tank wich is better for pvp than pve I can admit. When it comes to what can be equipped on it, I think people fail to take into account that it has twice the dronebay of other BC. That is one of the main things that sticks the Brutix up with other Battlecruisers.
Try a cap injector or multiple cap rechargers (2-3) and use a two reepers.

Before RMR it was rather difficult to do 0.0 spawns in it, now I tried it again and started to love it. Enough grid for weapons now, and enough cap for a decent fit.
I can do 0.0 spawns as easy as with an AF now.
I cannot tell how it compares to the other BC's though as I havent flown these. I think that its in the same league with the others though.

I have yet to buy and play with one again post RMR, but i have been meaning too. Before the patch it was a fairly strong Battlecruiser for PVP if fitted correctly and flown by someone with half a mind and half a skill book.
I have on numerous times taken out other battlecruisers in the brutix, and that was prepatch. I specifically remember smoking a Prophecy that thought he had run me up in the station in my crow scared...till i undocked in the Brutix and had him to half shield before he could warp.
I then chased him down and podded him for his insolence. The brutix shines with blasters, a nos or two and definitely a cap booster...for pvp this is a must. It allows you to stay in the fight for longer and not die as fast...which is 70% of pvp really. Outlast your opponent. While it may not be optimal for pve...it is a good option for pvp with a full rack of blasters and nos and a cap booster on there.

I'm currently doing level three missions in my Brutix. I used it before the patch and after. The biggest change I made was that I was able to fit 4x proto 250s in place of my 4x proto 200s.
Personally, I like the ship. -- Don't Run. You'll Only Die Tired. |

I thought it was fine pre-patch. Soloed all the L3 with no warpouts. I'm starting a new set of agents now, while the missions get sorted out, but I was helping a corpie with his L3s the other night with this setup:
5x250mm Comp coils 2x150mm Scouts
(either a cap battery or an AB2) 3xEutectics
1xMR2 3xhardeners (I can only fit T1s) 1xener nano adap (plenty left over to modify this, can easily fit 4xhardeners)
5xValk2 drones
We didn't get a hard enough mission to test, he flys a cyclone so we were both itching for something really hard to test our tanks. We got one angel deadspace mission (retribution?) that either of us could have easily soloed. Hopefully tonight will be better.
I don't know if it's viable in todays pvp environment, as slow as it is, but it can dish out good DPS while taking a savage beating. Might be decent using 5 webber drones, or 2 + 3 mixed dmg drones.

lol you have no clue, my brutix can break a ****load of hacs including deimos, cerb and zealot with a heavy ion 2 setup. using injectorcharges (400) keeps cap up while tanking the enemy with just 1 medium rep 2. i cant say anything else than it rocks. cpu issues were murdering teh ship, now it pwns and is able to take down even bs in small gangs. more dps than a deimos with a comparable tank and cost a lot less
cant say anything else than i love the ship ^^ _________________________________________________

Amazing how a simple change in fittings can turn a ship from a niche ship into something that wtfpwns left and right. Imo, its now tied for best BC with the cyclone.
Myself, I like 1 med rep:
7x Heavy Ion (II fit with good AWU levels) 10MN MWD II, Med Electrochemical (400 or 800), Web, Scram Med Rep II, 2x Adaptive II, 2x Mag Field Stab II
5 Med Drones (II if possible)
With 5 Hammerhead II, a grand ganking total of 613 dps, for under 40m. If that's not good value for money, I dont know what is. ------------- Please fix the EW stacking bug :(

In all honesty, it was also very, very hard to fit before RMR. A few hardheads stuck with it and managed to do some great stuff with it, but most people - understandably imo - preferred to just use something else that didnt require you to beg for spare cpu in the streets. ------------- Please fix the EW stacking bug :(

You could fit a similar setup pre-RMR. Obviously it has gotten better with the grid/cpu boost (you could only have 1 med rep and needed an RCU II), but it didn't "suck" like most people assumed.

The brutix is a fine ship to fly, you just needed to have a certain amount of skills before you jump into it. Served me fine for all lvl 3's with only spy stash making me actually warp out.
Pre RMR: 4 x 250mm proto's, 3 x 150mm proto's X5 webber, ab2, 2 named cap rechargers 400mm rolled tungsten, T2 armour rep, 3 x hardeners
Post RMR: Swapped in another 250mm
Oh yeah 5 hammerheads aswell

I am about to chuck in my thorax for a brutix... since ive only been around a few months im at just over 1 million skill points, so no T2 stuff except drones.
Can anyone recommended any workable setups in the Brutix for lowish SPs then ?

i've used a brutix a few times, for missions and rat hunting, but eventually sold it as it never impressed me much. i don't think i'll ever go back to one considering i took one out yesterday in my rax without even getting half way into armor. not a good pvp-er it would seem.

I've been using a Brutix for almost a year now and I've always known that it required very good fitting skills in order to obtain the best from it.
With RMR it has been granted in my opinion the single most valuable boost and that is the 7.5% repair bonus. The extra grid and cpu is fine, but not as good. Every little helps though.
Now can everyone say 'Dual Med Repper IIs Rock'

Any comments on this setup for a low-skilled player...?
5xHeavy Ion (antimatter) 2xNamed Med Nos
1xAB II 1xNamed Webber 2xNamed Cap Recharger
1xNamed Med Armor Repairer 2xRat Specific Hardener 1xNamed Damage Control 1xNamed Mag Field Stab
Drones: 1xBerserker 1xPraetor
I know I should have 5xmedium drones instead of 2xheavy but i dont have the skills yet.
Anything any experienced players would like to say about this would be much appreciated. thanks.

I use it for PvE...but im wondering what combiation og t1 med blasters are best for cruisers? Now im using 2 neutons and 5 electrons...which should equal something like 9 electrons i think
or would it be better to fit 7 ions?
mind i dont have more pg than shown over.

Stop saying the brutix is good. Someone above said 'tied with the cyclone for best BC' - hahaha. No. Cyclone is terrible.
Yes you now can fit a better setup. But still you will get pooed on by the prophecy and the ferrox. Again the brutix can do well if you have a lot of skill points but without Adv weapon upgrades and max enginering and electronics it fits rubbish, the equivelent skills in a ferrox or prophecy will be much better at combat. Take your brutix money and buy 5 thorax's.

There is about 40 DPS difference with the fourth mag stab II on my setup. Not like I am going to setup a meaningful tank with the grid and CPU I have left anyways.
