Edited by: shirenu on 20/12/2005 19:05:54 Edited by: shirenu on 20/12/2005 19:05:20 Hi,
I'm trying to give the Eve trial a shot, but I can't make heads or tails of the in-game fonts.
This is what my screen looks like: Linkage
I'm on an Acer laptop Mobile AMD Sempron 3000+ 512mb RAM (64mb shared with the video card) SiS M760GX video card
All my drivers are up to date and I'm not having heat-issues or anything like that.
Is there an option in the game to switch to more readable fonts? I can't make out most of the options...
Any suggestions on what else to do?

Howdy! =)
Are you, by chance, using an LCD Flat Panel Display? What you have a link to looks an image from using an LCD Flat Panel at a much lower resolution than it's Native Resolution. If you are using a LCD Flat Panel, you NEED to run Windows, Apps and Games at the LCD's Native Resolution. 17" Monitors usually have a Native Rez of 1024x768, 19" LCD's Native at 1280x1024, 20" and up have Native Rez's much higher.
However, doing a screen grab might not show the distortion that the monitor shows.
I hope this helps you some! =D

Yes, it's an LCD flat panel. It's running at 1280x800, but I'll try cranking it up a bit to see if that works.

As far as I know the SIS graphics chip is unsuported. AFAIK it does not support features needed to run eve fully, such as T&L support.
You can try and update the drivers from SIS but I dont know if it will work.
Sorry. << Insert whitty sig here >>

This is what it looks like for me

My computer has the same problems, before it was possible to read skill times, and some letters and numbers that were in a different font to chat font. But all chat font was a bit like that in exodus for me. Now it is worse, and I can't read any of the font. It makes the market, and choosing a skill to change impossible. Thats all I want to do as well. Really need to change the text for me. Back to pre exodus would be great as that worked, if possible.

Hi shirenu,
no idea, if it helps, but i got the same problem before rmr.
The only way for me to "fix" it, was shutting down the client and rebooting my machine. After a while i found out, that this happened when i worked with programs using a lot of ram (ie photoshop), before i started the eve-client.
My machine runs with a MSI nvidia graca with 256 mb and 1 gb ram. Maybe you should shut down everything running in background that is not needed.
Greetings Linda (-:
P.S.: Sorry for my crappy english - i am no native speaker.

Not that it's going to be a great deal of help, but I had a similar problem using Frontier: First Encounters on an LCD laptop. The screen would display every few columns of pixels at twice or more their intended size, so text was similarly distorted, and I tried everything to fix it*.
The only thing I can think to ask - and sorry if it's blindingly obvious: you have tried the game in fullscreen and windowed modes, I take it?
Otherwise, I know as a previous poster has said there are some chipsets that just won't do EVE. I have a friend who wanted to play but just isn't able to because of his graphics card - although he gets a completely scrambled display whenever he tries to run it.
(* Aside from whatever would have made it better, obviously.)

That seems like one awkward native resolution. Try to run eve in a window =)

It has noting to do with resolution.

That image looks really familiar. Something I and alot of other people experienced when Eve first went live. I cannot log in for some days yet to varify but there used to be a font slider bar which you could tweak, and this solved the problem. It might of been removed on other patches, I just can't remember. The solution to that particular problem is listed on the forums somewhere. You will have to use Eve Search to find it. Or look to see if that font slide bar is still there in settings.
Not too helpful response, but it could be related.

I did change the texelalign in the prefs file, as someone suggested, but that did not solve the problem.
