I highly support this thread and believe OP will succeed in removing all forms of trashtalk from online media with his well laid out thoughts.

All problems and issues related to the use of profanity can be totally and completely eliminated by not using it.

Its the people that dont cuss or link dirty pics in local that scare me.

I'm gonna take a stab here that the OP has no understanding what crude language is acceptable and what crude language is not. AKA we're not getting the whole story of posting goatsie links in local or using racist/homophobic language in local.

I'm an adult and quite capable of choosing which games I play and what links I click and what I chose to read and listen to, thank you OP.

I don't need CCP or anyone else to help me out with that.

You should also be quite capable of understanding this: Their game, their rules.

Complaining about it isn't going to change it. Especially complaining about it here.

So here's the solution. Or what I think a solution to this problem is. Most MMOs out there have a language filter. Maybe CCP should finally invest in putting this into the game that can be turned on and off depending on the players preference.

I will vote for this if I can tailor it to turn off all talk in local from alliances with verbal Diarrhea

That's exactly what I'm talking about. Have it as an option in General Options to have a chat filter on or not. Which will mean that people can't report you for cussing in local because you messed up etc.

At first I was very confused what this thread was all about. But now I see that it is a request for more protection of us by CCP in this great game.

As I understand it, the op is requesting the following enhancements to the game:

1. Removal of local and all other chats until proof is submitted that the player is of the age of majority in his local area. The easiest proof is the monthly demand for the manual entry of a credit card number to pay for this game. A faxed drivers'license should also be required to setup an account.

2. Automatic filtering of in-game chat.

3. Automatic warnings for anyone who attempts to link or post hate, anti-gay, religious, political, etc content.

Because such sweeping changes need to be tested first, the first group of beta testers should be the TEST alliance.

Sorry, but even with a chat filter there would be some language off-limits. This is true of every game that implements a chat filter. You still get banned for racism, homophobia and other such-like verbal diarrhea.

How about this brilliant million-dollar idea? If you tend to say things that are ban-worthy, practice keeping your fat mouth shut.

Mumble is voice, so perhaps some people don't know how to read.
