OK the macrominers are out there and still macroing away. This is how you can bust them using RMR rules.
Get a couple of corp mates flying decent pvp setups and have them go to a safe in the system. Locate the macrominers in the system and then have the corp mates fyl full speed to that belt. Next get an industrial and start ferrying their ore back to your station as if you were hauling for them. They will possibly fire on you. Thats when your corp mates jump right in on top of you and gank their protection.
Safe, legal and effective. If we all implement such tactics NOW then macromining will soon become too costly for the bad guys to do.

If they set their drones on you (and oh yes, many will), web + scramble them and collect the loot. There's a lot you can do given even one turret slot and enough meds
Nothing so fun and relaxing as killing a barge in an indy, I tell you. These guys have crappy drone skills.

i'd like to sit in a belt before the macroers get there, sit for hours waiting for them - CLOAKED. then send in an obvious hauler, and when he shoots the hauler, y'all uncloack and kill his ass screaming 'DIE MACROER' :-D

Not a good idea in the middle of a highsec ice field. I'll leave the "why" portions of that as a homework assignment.

ok dumb this down a bit for a noob that is trying to follow....someone has a macrominer extracting ore or whatever and jettisoning it....then his corp mates or an alt come pick up a full load with a hauler. Is that how people are macromining in this game? Seems moronic to me but all games seem to have these...I like busting them as muc as the next guy...

It depends on the situation of course.. hehe.. but if those in range, lets say 2.5 km .. Medium SB ?? Turn Red on you for tanking there ICE and drops drones on you .. they are the only ones around you. Then you would use them right ? ----------------------------------------------- Regards

Mostly it's not necessary (sp?) to be with more than 2 people, together in a gang, one to scoop some ore and get attacked and the other one to gank the macroer, it works I've done it yesterday The macroer was even admitting he was macroing How rude I love picking on them

Couldnt you also approach them with a fighter (AF, Cruiser, BS etc etc) eject a can of your own and move all their mined ore into your can ??? :D
They can shoot you :) or they can open your can to take it back :D

Dont assume your enemy is an idiot or unprotected. There is no reason these macrominers might not use a ship to protect their ships. Be ready to take on that ship. I personally like the idea of moving to your own can though. That is funny.

they try sometimes, but either they have setups so bad that a T1 cruiser can easily kill their BS, or their "protection" warps out as soon as anyone locks it.

moving to own can - isn't there something about that in the patch notes, or mentioned by a Dev at some point? - isn't in the case that they can take it back or something, or if y'all flagged here there and everywhere anyways, it doesn't matter which cans its in cuz its all a big mess already anyways? lol

Unfortunately, lately the Macro Miners have switched tactics and have started to not drop cans. They simple warp between stations. A good example of this are in the Ice belts in Jita. A couple have tried to get them but the best tactic has been suicide killing.

Edited by: Genericname12345 on 21/12/2005 14:03:04 what is macro mining?
and why is it considered wrong? having someone carry your cargo that you dump seems like a normal mining operation.

if they take it back, they get flagged and you shoot them. if they don't take it back, all they can do is abandon the ore or wait until they think you've left before they take it.
some of them will shoot you when you take their ore, but most won't.

This is how we do it. But of course we haven't petitioned the MM so we have to blow the can at the end. I had a miner in tears when I said we had just blown a full can of Kernite.
We have found that targeting and ramming the MM, while stealing the ore often makes them head for a station.

Macromining is when people use third party programs called macro programs to mine while being AFK. Its a bannable offence but the reality is that Ive never seen CCP do anything to stop it. Normally you mining and your other account or buddy hauling or even in an OP is ok. Its only when you use third party macro programs that it becomes bannable and stupid.

I only skimmed the thread. Dunno if it's an exploit or if it's allowed but...
I read in help chat that if you drop some of your stuff into a cargo can of theirs (stacking your ore on theirs) and they pick it up, they get flagged for taking your stuff.
Sort of an interesting idea.

macrominers are usually a group (like IGE, IGEX, mysupersales and so on) that are Chinese, speak horrible English (or none at all) and farm for real life money and then have people in the higher ranks hiring them to do this to sell the ISK to players like us. Many of us hate these players for many reasons: personally, I just hate them because of experiences I had with them in Lineage 2. They started on beta 1 during Lineage 2 and were way stronger then everyone else and kicked the crap out of anyone who went near where they were camping. It seems in EvE we have the upper hand.
And to anyone who thinks they aren't Chinese and I'm just sterotyping: I speak/type mando and canto to them, they type back, they understand, they're just as Chinese as I am =P
