Do the new leadership skills, like Armoured Warfare give you a passive bonus if you are in a gang, or do you need to have a module active to get the 2% Armour Bonus per level in the skill? Else, do the modules just give you an even bigger bonus?

siege, armored, skirmish, etc warfare give passive bonuses to everyone in the gang(including the person with the skills)
the specalist ones require a mod(that basicly only fits on BC's, command ships(t2 bc's) & capitol ships), giving you more/bigger bonuses
and yes you need a gang (of people in space in the same system) for the bonuses to apply

question already answered but i thought id chip in
with the basic leadership skills maxed your gang will recieve 10% bonus to the following
armor hit points targetting range shield capacity maximum velocity targetting speed
with the specialised skills you will gain a 100% effectiveness to the module in question. please note the modules may only fit on command ships (CAPITOL SHIPS / BC / TECH II BC)
a pilot with well trained leadership skills can easily turn the tide of any conflict.

There is also a bonus ONLY on the armour specialization which gives 2%/lvl personally to armour. I'm not sure why it is done this way... I imagine since high shields give a recharge rate and are therefore more powerful *shrug*

On the other hand with only a few hours left to finish Cruiser to V and having the Squadron command skill in hanger waiting to be trained all I need is a lot of ISK to buy one of these suckers but soon™ you will see me hoping in my first nighthawk ------------------------------------------- Should you disagree with me, well I guess that is because I disagree with you. If you have a problem with that please feel free not to tell me. |

It's just a time sink. I would prefer Squadron Command V for the Fleet Command one and HAC IV for the Field Command one. That way it would make sense in comparison with T1 Battlecruisers, represent their actual roles and provide for a 'true' leadership specialization (anything that doesn't require charisma is not).
