I have an X800 XTPE which runs eve fine, except when i get an agent mission and look at the mission details, everything then just locks up and i have to press the reset button. Iv tried windows an eve re-installs, new mainboard, new memory, new soundcard, new psu. but this hasent solved the problem, and now i just think its either the gfx card, cpu, or eve.

All you have to do with the X300 is disable the sound when you are in a Popular system. When your in a not so busy system then you can bring your sound back up and it wont restart on you.

Well at least I have some solace in the fact that I'm not the only one experiencing this problem.
I'm running a P4 3.60 HT on an Asus P5AD2-E motherboard with 800-1100 FSB 2 meg L2 cache, 480 Watt power supply, 180 gig HD, ATI x800 PCI Express with 5.12 Cat drivers.
What I've noticed with this problem on my computer at least, is that it seems to happen the most during combat with larger numbers (although it's happened with just a few before) of NPC ships, specifically when they begin their attack. If they attack all at once that is when my system crashes. I've had one or two reboots during other parts of the game but this seems to trigger the reboot without fail every time time. I can do mining and courier missions until I'm blue in the face and the game will run for hours, but as soon as I engage in a sizable conflict blammo.
I've tried un/reinstalling video drivers and the game. But that just seems to delay the inevitable. The longer you go without un/reinstalling the more the game crashes as well.
I'm almost complete my trial account and I really would like upgrade it, but if this is what is going to happen every time then I'll pass until they get this fixed. Good game but I'd rather have a stable system.

I'm running an ATI x800 256mb and haven't had my comp reboot yet :)
I do however notice that after being in game for a lil while everything starts to get kinda jerky, but my room mate who uses nvidia has the same problem so I don't think that's video card related.

ATI name brand X700 Pro w/ Catalyst 5.13 on P4 3.2 w/ Intel mobo and 1Gb DDR2 4200 ram. Windows XP Pro.
Still runs 2 EVE clients just fine; even after RMR patch. No issues with the Ati automatic reset; works fine.
Buddy had crashes after RMR, finally traced to power supply, but only when running EVE.
My conclusion is that EVE taxes your video system MUCH more than nearly any other program. Any issue with the video card, or power to the video card, and EVE is the most likely program to crash or freeze or cause a reboot.
This is because of the video load EVE presents, not necessarily due to a coding problem in EVE client. Yes, there could be a coding problem and since we have 20,000 characters ingame today, I suggest the problem is most likely a weakness in your PC.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!! - CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+F12
Thats right all I had to do was disable sound in Eve and no more restart. If you read my post earlier in this thread I was convinced that it was a CCP issue and it is. I hope they fix this because I like to hear Eve when i am playing it.

Problem is.... people who had great frame rates in Cold War, now have worse frame rates in Red Moon Rising with the same hardware. Plus as far as I am aware nothing radical has changed with the client.
Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

I have Radeon 9800pro on barton 2500
No problems with restarting and crashing .
I had used normal ATI drivers and lately omega (because of CCS problems).
So i doubt it had something to do with ati cards

Until a few months ago Eve wouldn't run at all on my 9200 but now it runs fine after the catalyst drivers were updated some time ago to let Eve run on this old card. ( I think )

Im running on a AMD Barton 3000+ and ATI x800XT, i have no problems what so ever with crashes og lockups, so its not ATI |

well .. im running a x800xt pe too .. and havnt any problmes with ma card
its not a card issue .. just find the perfect driver for your system ..
the newest driver must not be the best driver for your system .. i have an old driver too .. omega drivers 4tw

Although I'm sorry that you are all having problems, I am so glad to hear that others are having the same issue. Prior to RMR my system was able to run eve fine with my ATI 9600SE but after RMR eve's been suffering from random PC reboots. I can't explain it and I was very concerned that my pc was suffering from a hardware fault. I know I have invested in a quality PS as I had an issue in the past cheep ones so that should not be the case
Note::since disabling the sound i haven't had any problems with computer restarting while playing eve. I can't say for certain but if anything changes i'll edit this post.

ATI ... during EVE's extended downtime today, I downloaded and installed Ati Catalyst ver 5.13 drivers for my X700 PRO card. [that's version 6.14.0010.6587, dated 12/11/05]

i think it has more to do with memory usage (or leakage).
i run EVE on different machines:
- PIII 800, 512MB, GF4200ti 64MB
- XP 1500+, 512MB, GF4200ti 64MB
- XP 1800+ oc'ed to 2500+ and FSB166, 2gig, Radeon 9800Pro AIW 128MB
- AMD64 3000+, 1gig, GF6600 128MB oc'ed
everything runs fine, except when i take a look at the memory usage i see it is constantly rising. playing on the 512MB machines i had to restart EVE every 2-3 hours (game got laggy as hell), with the 2gig machine i have no problems at all (but still memory constantly rising).
let's hope for the patch next tuesday

X800XL 512MB PCI-E (sapphire variant dual-slot)
WIN XP
1.5 GB RAM
P4 3Ghz
160GB S-ATA 8MBCache
No problem with EVE, although I did have system problems with Catalyst ATI Driver ver 5.12 and 5.13, but this was a video/media codec conflict, not a Graphic card driver conflict.
Have you tried downloading/installing just the graphic card driver? Also, are you using ATI's Catalyst uninstaller? When you say 'issues', what kind of issues are you having?
On another note, I used to use the X300SE PCI-E, once again, no issues at all with EVE.
