I wasn't mining, i was doing a courrier mission.

I wasn't anywhere near an asteroid field.

My ship wasn't even armed.

I know that there were alot of factors that led to my ship being lost and me getting killed by pirates, among them my inexperiance, the fact i was looking at pron and listening to music when i came under attack, the lag that occured when i maximized the game window, and the fact that the cursor didn't appear until after my sheild and harmor were gone.

the real reason i had to post was that after it was all over, i clicked on a nearby station, chose "dock" from the menu, and the pod warped to the stargate that was under attack by four pirates, and aparently, they decided it wasn't enough to destroy a person's ship.

I don't really care if this "Isn't a flight sim game." I'd just like a simple way of turning my ship in a different direction without having to move the camera or click anything. even MMORPGs give you a way of moving your guy without the mouse.

the arrow keys aren't used for anything, why not make them a little emergency control sceme? they don't have to control every axis, just the pitch and yaw. just a simple little manual control that someone can use when they are under alot of stress and they don't have time to move the camera and double click or deal with any menues?

Star Trek is not a model of space-age navigation and technology. and I do remember faintly one episode in which they used a manual control to navigate an asteroid field. so shut up. new does not always mean better.

even the USS Ronald Regan has a steering wheel.
