It's more beautiful and characteristic than any of the T3s tbh.
Because it looks like a manatee. Which can be considered as adorable in a chubby way, but when you are talking about warships, "adorable in a chubby way" isn-Št exactly the design philosophy you want to go for. You can look into the next mirror if you want chubby, but warships should look badass, or funktional, or dangerous or whatever, just not like this manatee.

typhoon, come on! there's an open platform under the thrusters with a box on it. what purpose does that serve? also, the bellicose is a freak, and not in a good way.
on the caldari side, we have quite a few ugly birds, im thinking of the moa, caracal and ofc the osprey.
gallente, id say the exequror is not pretty.

Raven - make the two wings the same size and shape, but transfer that protrusion on the right wing to the left; pull in those radial spikes under the right wing just a bit; breakup the windows on the cockpit to look like several levels instead of giant windows; get rid of the tubes; center the model along the cockpit-engine axis
Moa - keep the off-center bridge part and lower right engine thing, they balance each other; either mirror the left engine pod on the left with the right, mirroring the body as well, or mirror the right side with the left; align the model to a central axis that runs between the two engines in the rear (currently feels like it's slightly off-center to those)
Coercer - just make the body and engines symmetrical, mirror either side with the other, while keeping the side cockpit
Imicus - straighten out the main body so it's freakin' vertical and then mirror the side wing
Tempest - move the bottom leg to the center of the ship, maybe center that engine pod on the bottom of it as well
Stabber - mirror that engine on the right with the left
Typhoon - get rid of that thing on the bottom rear that looks like a lowered landing platform; remove that engine on the upper left; get rid of the giant tubes, or maybe makes them thinner and more numerous, like a bunch of smaller tubes instead of one giant one
Omen - get rid of that side thing, the shield arm I've heard it commonly called
Crucifier - maybe mirror the right side with the left, but keep the tower as well, just add something to that side so it doesn't look so unbalanced
Kestral - pull in that right pod just a bit, so it's the same distance from the center as the left pod; mirror the rear of the right pod with the left; straighten out the angle of the right wing tip and make it symmetrical with the left
Blackbird - generally mirror the right side with the left, make it kinda look like a flying wing, but keep the asymmetrical central structures
Thorax - mirror the right side onto the left, that whole lower engine pod looks really cool
Exequror - just balance and make even the engines
Celestis - just mirror the left side, sans that cockpit, onto the right
Machariel - get rid of that pod on the upper left, but keep that tower there
Megathron - get rid of that pod on the upper left as well
Atron - mirror the left side onto the right, minus that side cockpit
Osprey - just mirror the right side onto the left
Navitas - mirror the right side onto the left
Bantam - just make it symmetrical
Cormorant - make the rear wings symmetrical, but keep that cockpit like structure on the left side
Aeon - make it symmetrical
Phoenix - make those wings symmetrical
Thanatos - just make the rear and engines symmetrical Or, just make every ship into a flying square cube. That way every ship look the same. Pretty much the way u want it by the sound of it
The blackbird is one of the most amazing looking ships in this game tbh, and so is the tempest. And dont u dare touch the Aeon, cause i love making fun of it since it looks like an amazing mix between the archon and a bestower

Thanatos - just make the rear and engines symmetrical Good ideas, and relatively easy to do :) That would take me a month or so to do and then make final drafts. +1 from Petey, with love. No, please not. Would result in too much symmetry.
The asymmetric design is one of the things that make EVE-ships stand out of most of the SciFi-crowd. (This should not imply every ship should be asymmetrical). But I have to agree one or two tweaks here and there could help with the "believability" of some results of crazy engineer parties...
I really like the new design approach (textures and stuff) but making a the scorpion hull symmetrical was a big mistake in my eyes. Directly followed by make it look like it's biological namesake. Ships get designed/built and a name is chosen how it looks like (if at all) and not the other way round... Well not entirely sure about Gallente engineers, but it's definitely not the approach of cold Caldari efficiency.
And yes I also like the overall design of the Moa how it is right now (though textures etc could be updated) |

No, I like them too. Moa, old Scorpion.. asymmetrical ,pure functional and grayish designs are true Caldari beauties. I wish , the Tengu would go in this direction.
Besides, the Typhoon has a superb design. A mobile scrap metal factory with a docking area. One of the best models In Eve.

It doesn't make sense that they have the same look as human made spaceship.
I suggest that you redo the dominix and leave the rogue drones as they are----domi is ugly anyway.
BTW, the MOST ugly ship, in my opinion, is Typhoon the space dustbin. You got it backwards. Rogue drones salvage everything they can.. and so they salvaged dominixes and repurpused them for their use.
turned out not everything actually, just domi. Come on just redo the domi and make the current tentacled-domi a new faction ship you can fly----that means another faction ship with its own design besides macharial and nightmare, the looking is acceptable if its not designed by human.and I do love those tentacles.
The federation captured some rogue drones and finally managed to interfere its nerve system and control it, G+A mix battleship, no turret slot and 10 drones, sth like this, easy story. |

Honestly, the only ships I don't mind at all are Minmatar. Their hulls are awesome. As well as the majority of Gallente ships.
Ugliest ship? Easy: Moa. I understand that functionality and efficiency talk, but come on :D

Nope thats not that one, this look almost like a muscle race car'd version of a domi. The primary shape still there it was just more sleeked out agressive.
I tried looking for the model again and found another one of my ships I swore I didnt upload at and had to send an email request for take down as the poster was clearly not me on the website.
Found this picture the model I saw wasnt as tall but the idea is similar.

Yes, I know. There are lots of other things that need to be fixed with eve......
And this is relatively a minor issue. But I was curious on the eve communities input on what ships should be redesigned.
I personally think that the Osprey and Dominix hull would be a good place to start.
What do you guys think?

gall-side, the celestis hull is horrible and needs serious changing. hyperion looks horrible. then the imicus. rest is cool imo.
minnies - the cane and rifter are probably the only decent-looking hulls, the rest are abysmal. i could never get myself to fly minnie ships due to their poor aesthetics

Going on the lore of the game, wasn't the Dominix a ramming ship as its original intention?
The Moa will always hold a special place for me. Once I was able to ~advance~ from my Merlin to the Moa, hearing those unique engines told me I was moving up to bigger and better things. Of course, this was during a gaming world where seeing a battleship meant someone was deadly, powerful, and rich!
Personally, I rather see the ships retain their original designed shape and just get detailed here and there. Subtly work launchers into the mix if such a ship is known for being that type (like the Raven). Perhaps review the in-game data and size ships closer to the numbers. A Megathron looks large while a Rokh looks small next to it. |
