So if we reached a new record last weekend with over 20k players 8000 Trial Acoounts were allowed to log in at once. I think about ~7500 Trials were online.
Without that much Trial Accounts on TQ the PAYING players (customers) would have a lag-free and enjoyable server.
So my appeal to CCP:
Reduce the Trial Account logins to at max. 1000 until the new hardware is installed and TQ is able to handle 18k+ players lag-free!!
This is the only solution to keep the lag down and the game playable.
Better than every single "HOT-FIX"

I remember when just 800 trials were allowed on.
It was pretty free of lag then.

As far as I know they increase the logins for Trials on weekends.
Even 3k are way too much. ____________________ CEO Denial of Service

Trail accounts ruin the game. Just make them pay the 15$ for a month of playing time and that fixes all the problems with people abusing them. Everyone knows that the trail accounts are being abused to a point that ccp had to put restrictions on them. Just get rid of the buddy program and trail accounts.

If you ever want to see how many trail account are really online (instead of making up number from thin air) create one for your self and login. It's not even close to 7500 at prime time.

I logged on my trial account a few days back, and it aid 500 of a maximum of 3000 trial accounts. So im not sure where you got that rounded number from, but it sure as hell aint the trial acounts causing all the lag...
And I'm beginning to wonder if TQ will EVER be able to sustain 18K players with lag free gameplay (not just in 0.0) dispite the server optimisations and hardware upgrades. But we will see soon enough wont we... ___________

I'd like to kindly point you all up to the sticky on Oveur's news post.
Full replacement of the entire tranquility server with state of the art 64 bit AMD IBM bladeservers.
Full replacement.
Full replacement.
Full replacement.
This is an investment of financial magnitude and dedication to this game that requires a momentary pause, consideration and a decision to express patience on the benefit of CCP. If anyone expect a developing group to offer more then an entire upgrade of the entire operating server to literally cutting edge server technology then they are doomed to be dissatisfied even by the hand of god.
Patience. Remember EVE blesses you with the ability to train while offline. You are not losing valuable XP time or falling behind the leveling grind of your friends. Breathe deeply, log on at an off time and move to a less populated area of space and try out a part of the game you haven't before for awhile.
I endure no lag at the moment, during peak hours on a sunday even.

OP needs to purchase a clue cookie on running their own company before telling CCP how to handle theirs...
CCP is doing just fine, how about we remove access to post on the forums too, so we dont waste time with silly post like the OP's.
Let CCP iron out the bugs on the system, while the whiners suck their thumbs or bottles and cry to mommy about the ebil people using restricted trial accounts (that bring in new players so CCP can buy new YAAAARRRRRDWARE, thus making EO even better for us all).

Without a trial, I would have never paid the monthly payment just to see if I like the game. I did the trial and now I am hooked. So trials are important to attracting new players, otherwise they would never try the game.

I think I saw someone mention that the trials are capped at 1500. Most of them are floating at Kisogo anyways. Or some other newbie systems. Which reside on their dedicated machines. In other words, trials cause you nothing.
I'd really love to meet the wizard who created the baseless rumor that trials cause lag to the other players...

Until they install the new hardware, I don't really forsee the lag situation getting vastly better. No matter what.
If the things they tell us about the new hardware are true, it should completely change the lag situation to the point where it's not going to be an issue for a long long time. --------------------------------[04:04:04] Tom Thumb > for a nut case you rawk |

Dosperado,
Seems you are new to the way trial accounts work.
Only 3000 trial accounts are allowed online at any one time. This is a minor effect on lag.
Perhaps we need to remove fancy special effects. That would do more to reduce system lag than picking on noobs.
