Originally by: Ronald Speirs Well, I was trying to get some sleep and a random eve-related thought popped into my head. What happened to combat? You know, the pulse-pounding, hand shaking, sweaty, euphoric feeling and screaming on ts type combat. That feeling, that rush you get when you lock a target and f1 f2 f3 ect.. till one of you goes pop type combat. I'm not talking about npcing or mission running. I'm talking about pvp in its purest form.
It seems to me that as of late its just not there. Maybe its just me , but despite having multiple targets no one wants to fight unless the odds are totally overwhelming on their side. And when i say overwhelming i mean 10 vs 1. You can call it tactics or whatever you want, but it seems that a vast(not directed at anyone in particular) majority of players never engage unless one of two things are present. 1. overwheming numbers or 2. three or more WCS.
For example, tonight i engaged a geddon and a cyclone. The fight was in low sec and we were the aggressors. Mind you both of these players are valid war targets. Our forces were in a stilletto and a scorpion. The stilleto had two -2 scramblers fitted. The scorpion had two -1 scramblers fitted. This was a total of -6 scramble strength. We engaged the geddon first, he got to 1/4 shields and to my suprise it warped off.
Now if we do the math that was a full rack of WCS. Now we shifted our focus onto the cyclone. But before i could even lock him he warped. Now i can understand that completely, he would have not stood a chance. What i cant understand is that he never actualy fired on either of us. Never attempted to kill the inty to get his corpmate free from the tackle. These guys are "pvpers" pirates and very adept at smacking on local so, i was a bit suprised that neither one put up a fight.
Now you might be saying 'maybe they were moving the ships'. This is untrue, they stayed in system and continued to smack away on local.
To sum up my text wall I feel that combat has changed maybe it was intended to be like this. Maybe i'm missing something entirely. It just seems that anymore that combat has de-evolved to the point of who has the bigger blob or who has the most WCS fitted.
I really didnt intend to make this thread a WCS whine thread, there are too many of those and it was not my intent. I just think that combat in eve has changed to the point of being repetitive.
Flame away.
It's just the playerbase being more and more wimpy. They don't want to lose their faction ship/implants/uber t2 modules/any combination.
