I'm not going to resub. I had a long hard think about it tonight and decided that there's a lot more annoying things in and around the game than there are enjoyable things. So time to call it a day I think.
Anyway - that's not the point of this post. I'm subbed until Sept 18 and I think I'd like to try and do something similar to Nemi Lethal (for those of you that remember him - drunk certainly does  ). I have around 50 mill or so now so by the last week that should be perhaps 75 mill + ships & items (don't really bother playing that hard now). So what I'm looking for is :
a) ideas about events;
b) corps willing to "sponsor" events - eg if the prize is a cruiser I pay you cost price and you give it to the winner. Alternatively look at c) if you want to go a bit further;
c) some funding - there's a lot of you out there that have more ISK than you could ever spend, so why not have some fun with some of it eh? Obviously I don't expect you to give me this just on the basis of this post, but once I've run a couple of events with serious prize money/items then maybe you might consider it?
Note to mods - I really would appreciate it if you didn't move this to the backwater that is the "Events" forum.
So peeps - evemail me your ideas for events.

we can have a pod kill event, have 50 people in frigates all fly for the gate, and have m0o campin it, who survives gets some cash :).

Ywev - I'd like pirates to be involved but come up with an idea that doesn't revolve around a corp eh? Unless of course m0o want to sponsor it? Not being funny here either - you have loads of cash so have a chat about it. It could be fun.

Drefsab - comes a point where a game (and issues around it) annoy you more than they please you. I've hit that point and rather than the usual "Can I have your stuff?" crap I'd like to have some fun before I leave.
Can you evemail me your offer please as it'll make life easier I think

Sounds like we have a plan here 
I quite like the idea of newbie ships/characters as it'd let new players get involved without potentially losing a large chunk of their assets.
Prize could be a cruiser of your choice - which would fit in well with the idea that new players could get involved.
If there's support for this then we could set a date/time up which will give you all time to set that newbie char training speed skills. To make it totally fair only off-the-shelf equipment to be used.
Oh and a further idea - there's going to be quite a few people make it through the gate (probably) and only one winner. So how about a follow-up competition for those people? A "last ship standing" fight? Rules would be pretty basic - no docking and no warping. A nominal prize of around a million isk to the winner.
You can of course make it known who your alt is - just for bragging rights

...If I had the money I'd sponsored the great Eve race, the movie 'cannon ball run' with burt reynolds as inspiration.
People would race from one side of the galaxy to the other, going through checkpoints, and at each checkpoint showing up a new item that they were required to get since the previous checkpoint.
At the same time game sponsors or 'smokies' would start 30 mins later and try to chase the contestents down and pod 'em.

That Cannonball Run is really not a bad idea... and there is no MWD warp skip cheating either now...
The items could be a bit of a tough one... you would need something from the devs so they can name them "Checkpoint 1" etc...

Fester : m0o aren't providing any prizes (AFAIK) - I am. In fact I don't know whether anyone in m0o apart from ywev is interested in this.
Re the "Cannonball Run" idea : someone already does an event called the Four Corners Race, and they put quite a lot of effort into it, so I'd rather not tread on their toes so to speak.

how does that sound, some 10-20 pirates in frigates camping a gate and some 30-100 noob ships approaching and trying to run :) |

Sounds like when we had jeep races in Battlfield 1942. Some guys had plced mines on strategic places along the track. And a few tanks here and there. Funny as hell. Out of 10 starters in our first race noone made it to the finish line.

Running a Moo blockade as part of an event sounds like huge fun. I'll sign up.
As a variant, give all participants in their rookieship a secure cargo container full of megacyte. Password protected, of course. Those who get through keep it, those who don't ... well ... Anyway, these secures will just pile up, and anyone who wants them can come and get them. With Moo guarding, of course.
Death and destruction for everyone.

I don't think i would Fly in it, but i wouldn't mind being the one at the Gate getting all the screen shots, watching all these n00b ships trying to get past m0o that would be PRICELESS! Ywev... great idea.

I'd certainly take part in the proposed lemming rush. If we are using new characters/ships, do they have to have the starting loadouts?
But if m0o are to provide the 'wall of death', I think it would make it more of a challenge for them if they agreed not to use area of effect weapons, so a certain amount of skill is required on their part too. Otherwise it'd be too easy to take out clusters of ships with missiles/energy bombs.

Just a quick update - I've had a chat with Stavros and he's happy about it with the exception of security if/when the location of the event leaks (ie huge fleets of battleships turning up to blow up m0o ). To try and sort something out on this front I'm talking to Nebulai - we'll see what happens.

sounds like fun to me.
Other ideas ive had would be a Race - system to system with a prize for first etc.. or a scavenger hunt of sorts ... or hide and go seek in system. or some combination of all of the above.. Take some time to organise .. but could break the boredom of mining day after day.
For the race to the gate you should use pods or shuttle to place all on an even footing ..

Toshiro : I'm working on a "treasure hunt" now, where you get an initial clue and password, find the secure can which contains another clue and password and so on until you find the final can.
The main problem is I know someone would change either the password on the can or the password inside for the next can I dunno how to get around this ATM....
