Oh and a further idea - there's going to be quite a few people make it through the gate (probably) and only one winner. So how about a follow-up competition for those people? A "last ship standing" fight? Rules would be pretty basic - no docking and no warping. A nominal prize of around a million isk to the winner.

Heh - this is not a one-off event. I have a month to go on my subs and I intend running a good few of them. The last one I'm planning right now - but I need to persuade someone who's a better player than me to be the "hare". That one will (if I've worked things out right) be worth 25 million isk 
If someone else wishes to contribute something (isk or items) to this particular prizefund then you are more than welcome.

this is great, i can imagine 50 frigates trying to get by a whole bunch of pc pirates, and i cna just imagine ywev and stavros, "which one should i lock, which one should i lock!!!", while two or three are zipping by
turning the camera angle in al directions

It's Nebulai that we're waiting on peeps. I sent him a more detailed proposal but he hasn't got back to me yet.
In the meantime there will be a 5 million isk treasure hunt tonight. I'll post the details on the Events forum at about 6pm GMT.
