Tried the "Blockade Mission". Lost my cruiser. Warped in, and was warp scrambled by players. Apparently your fair game. As you can see it's so erm....
Here's the results of my petition... ____________
GM Spiral - That does not change anything. They see the NPCs appear a hundred or so km away from the gate and they move towards them near the point you warp in at and set up an ambush. Still nothing out of the ordinairy.
Mandor - apologies again..this is worse...what you are saying is that when i accept the mission, all the bad guys spawn near gates...are visible, and that i am fair game because of these spawns
GM Spiral - Yes, even if you were in a 1.0 system you would be fair game just like everybody else. There is nothing in EVE that directly prevents a player from attacking another, only the threat of CONCORD intervention discaurages such behaviour. But CONCORD does not intervene in 0.4 systems and below.
Mandor - so are there any other missions where players can dirrectly affect missions, other than to camp a gate entry / exit point outside of the sentry guns range?
GM Fate - Yes there are several missions in the game where you are vulnerable to attack from other players.
Mandor - in such circumstances, where the oponents (mission drones) become visible, and give your position away? if so, doesn't this seem odd to omit this from any descriptions? there are a number of missions that flash up health warnings, surely this should be included as a warning?
GM Fate - In low security space you should always be on your toes and expect player attacks. This goes for agent missions too.
Mandor - This has nothing to do with low sec space. The jump gates in 0.4 space have sentry guns and they were out of range. This has everything to do with the mission setup. I could have been in 0.9 space and nothing would have changed. Is this not true?
GM Fate - This would not have happened in high sec. In 0.5 and above Concord would have warped in and killed the attackers instantly. In 0.4 and below you can expect pirates at every step. Also when running agent missions.
Mandor - So what you are saying is that because this is happening in 0.4 space, this is expected by the designers, for players to make use of this?
GM Fate - Yes this is by design. EVE is a PvP game and players are never safe when they are in low sec. Not even when running agent missions even though it is often harder to find and kill mission runners.
Mandor - I know it's PVP, but it doesn't seem like such a chore if you see rats turn up 100+K from a gate, and know that an agent runner will be apearing to kill them. Seems like all you have to do is wait, knowing there's a bonus for a player to complete it.......

Had to goto bed after this. I always thought that where missions presented dangers, over and above the genral rats, they flashed up a warning....aparently not.
You expect system entry and exit points to be hot, but you don't perhaps expect mission locations to be subject to PVP attacks whilst the missions are happening.
