Games like, Elite, Wing Commander and many similar flight sim/combat games worked well on PC's don't shut the PC players out of this as you did with DUST, bear in mind not everyone can justify additional games platforms hardware when they already have and maintain good hardware to play EVE. Apart from that way to go CCP :) Great to see this development , so more power to your elbows for this, When is it going beta? :D
To sort of nip this one in the butt, OR isn't designed to work on consoles, nor is console support planned. Mobile platforms(Tablets/Smartphones) are planned though(reference in above, one of those news links). |

I was under the impression that:
DUST514 - CCP Shanghai WOD - CCP North America EVE - CCP Reykjavik EVE:Valkyrie - CCP UK
So the guys in the UK are not working on DUST514.
So even if EVE:Valkyrie turns out to be 100% stand alone, it's still good publicity and probably a good strategic business decision.
Military experts call this a cyno... uhm a win - win situation.

Also, can someone explain what this thread is about?-á (Relax ! I'm just quoting Holgrak Blacksmith here.)

What I am waiting for is to know how will that affect EVE. I doubt they dare to add another game to TQ (let alone a twitch based one) so we're essentially left with CCP working on 3 other games and EVE still getting visited by Doctor Restat's Wagon of Hawezome. The Greater Fool Bar is now open for business, 24/7. Come and have drinks and fun somewhere between RL and New Eden! |

So is WoD on permanent hold then?
I take it the first-person flight control scheme will be incorporated into Eve at some point, as atmos flight perhaps to add proper air superiority for the dirt dwelling grunts?

Played EvR four or five times at Fanfest. I guess all the praise and begging the devs to release it paid off.
Please send over some test rigs to Eve Vegas in October so I can play it again so more people can try it out! |

I need PS3 to play Dust, oculus whatever to play Valkyrie...Not gonna buy any of them. I have the PC, I have 3d screen and 3d glasses and that's all my investment for gaming.
I don't like the idea to be forced to buy additional stuff to play. I feel like you're picking my pocket. |

This is going to be Awesome!
And I will lay down Isk on a bet that this game will be on a mobile device. You will plug your Oculus Rift headset into a tablet or a cell phone & battle your best friend(s) from across the world.
It only makes sense to go mobile with it, that's the biggest market going forward if not now. Cell phones are getting faster, better graphics & connections are lightning fast.
CCP has voiced that they want to get into the mobile gaming arena, well this would be a HUGE SUCCESS.
What would be that much more awesome is to allow a player to use their Eve Online character to carry over to this new game.
So, if you are not playing Eve Online, because you are not at your computer. Then you could hook the Oculus Rift up to your cell phone, log into Eve: Valkyrie & your Eve Online character can take part space flight battles. This would be just Awesome! R.I.P. Vile Rat |

Yep, using the Oculus Rift for extended periods of time might raise some concerns regarding your eyes' and brain's health. Never used one before or read it's technical specs, so I don't know if there is any significant amount of magnetism emmited by the integrated circuit, but exposing your eyes to bright light source so closely (even though not as intense or close as those you will face when welding) has the potential to, at least, expose your retina to extra stress. Although I suppose the lenses they are fitting in between the display and your eyes might provide some protection . Regarding brain health I'd become more concerned if they make a wireless (bluetooth or wifi) version. |

Maybe use the CREST API data to replay large capital engagements as a backdrop for Eve:Valkyrie. I mean unlikely that the individual fighters would turn the tide of battle, but seeing PL warp in and dunk the Dev convoy, or loose a Revenant or whatever and be able to fly around the ships as they executed the actual fleet warps etc - could be really cool.
If it turns out (as I suspect) that the actual battles aren't interesting enough as a backdrop, then that points to something lacking in current PvP that the Eve devs could focus on...?
Anyhow - I'll be buying one regardless. |

So once again CCP is dirverting money and manpower from EvE Online to another project.. sigh.. I guess I'll never have a new pos-system, old code clean-up, see ship re-balancing of EAF, WiS and all the other cool stuff I've been promised again & again. |

I know this is a great idea from CCP to change the scope of EVE. They should also look at getting the DUST players off planets and into stations. The Stations in null sec where you can board the station and take it over or destroy it from the inside. Even looting it the POS from within would be a nice thing to add as well.
Right now it feels like EVE and Dust are only sharing a chat room to be honest.
If they do have these fighters take off from carrier will I be able to walk around the carrier? Will I be able to tell if the carrier is under attack? If I get killed to I just re-spawn in a clone bay inside the carrier? If the carrier goes down will there be a station where my clone will jump to?

raven666wings wrote: Usb-pugging an Occulus Rift into one isn't the same thing as plugging in a laundry machine or a refrigerator. The Oculus Rift is usb powered (low voltage) and should consume about the same or little more power than your regular mobile device display as that's basically what it is (Head Mounted Display) with the addition of motion sensors.

Actually, regarding my last posts, after looking for OR spec info I found out the curcuit is separated from the headset and it's actually powered from external power source (AC/DC converter) but it won't be too hard for them to pull the power it uses from a usb cable like we see this dude doing here http://www.roadtovr.com/2013/04/18/oculus-rift-usb-power-hack-eliminates-need-for-a-wall-adapter-4971 and with the new gen mobile devices and lithium ion batteries it might be viable to do so. |

While I thought this was awesome, my first impression was that you would have people in your archon carrier, such as a dust player, and during a fight you would launch them into space and they would be a part of your fleet in battle. Like in a regular battle you tell who is primary, they could be a part of that battle. I do like the idea of this though because I played the star wars rouge squadron when I was younger and loved it.
Good job CCP for making another great looking game!!!! |

Its good to see that CCP see a great idea and are willing to run with it.
