my ccp wishlist for future games;
1) a isometric perspective post-nuclear game ala "fallout" 2) a FPS ground based engine based in the eve universe on planets with similiar economics but using mechs and groundcars as well as aircraft defending mining interests 3)a single player RPG

Something like Homeworld would be amazing :D
What happened to the mod people were trying to develop for homeworld based on EvE?

a planetside like game but in the eve world, eventually linked with eve ; your scores in the game could be transformed in isk, or some special system could change sovereignity in land or inside station battle results

They are already developing the next game Called Kali
I dont see them developing anything unrelated to EVE, and each major expansion could be said to be a new game, so yes they will develop new games, every year.

All games end up dead sooner or later. With EVE I just hope it's much, MUCH later. Say, when I'm 60. Yeah.

Hehe, you have a point there, EvE changes a LOT over time, try to compare eve as it is now to when it was relased :D ___________________________________________________

If CCP was to make another "Space Based" game may I direct the Developers to a series of books from the Author David Weber? That combat system would suit most of the current player base...

CCP will only leave EvE-onlineÖ when we do, so not for a very long time
Im sure we'll be walking on planets at some point , even if it isnt for another 5 patches , but at some point so they have another new element they will do it

I think they can pull off a successful company with just the EVE game. Moment EVE ever goes under is the day I get a girlfriend and put in a solid 8 at work and never loot to online gaming again.

I would agree with many of the above posters, 4-5 years or so till we have to think of switching. Unless something smashes the warf in London where servers are.
I, personally, cant wait till CCP intoroduces real "Crafting", as in Artisan Mode. Where I can modify my raven to have an Extra Slot or something.

Most MMO's have a big rush on subscribers early on and then just decline from there on (there are a few exceptions but they tend to have something unique to them, like being the first 3d MMO or the first casual MMO and so on)
I would put to you that EVE is no ordinary MMO, nor are CCP ordinary MMO developers - This is demonstrated quite clearly by the way EVE's player numbers have grown constantly from the start and are only accelerating.
Originally by: E-ON #1 interview with Lekjart
We saw planetary flight at last year's fanfest. Sadly it seems EVE will have to wait a while longer for that feature. What has been the difficulty in designing such features to fit in with the EVE universe? I think that such a strongly visual change warrants a significant change and addition to gameplay as well. We could have introduced this as a gimmick, but that would not show prper respect to all the oportunites that is gives us: Do you have ground units, do you interact with them, do you have full planetary details on all planets etc? Very quickly this becomes a space version of Battlefield 2, Which is all very good, but it is our opinion that more work needs to be put in to this to make it a literally ground-breaking new expansion.
This, is apparently what the boffins who work more behind the curtain have been working on, which sounds like they are pretty invested in expanding EVE in ways other than tech levels to me.
We know they want to do an FPS expansion for station warfare and the like, but that they have said they don't have the time to do it anytime soon, maybe in a few years.
I believe they've also said development of EVE will not end untill they have completely run out of ideas they could improve it with.
In short, I dont think EVE is so much as a game, as a world for them to build in, as such it isn't limited in the way the big name companys MMO's tend to be and I think CCP think along those lines as well. . ----- Apologies for any rambling that may have just occurred.

I'd love to see this die if it meant they were making an eve 2 or something similiar. They could build the code correctly from the ground up without all the bugs and take their healthy player base with them. All players would get an equal, fair start instead of newer players being dominated by older players and playing skill catch up everytime they nerf something and then add skills so the older players have more timesink thus, further killing the newer players and putting them behind even more than they were previously. New content is good. Nerfing is bad.

The reason you would love it is because you have been born on 2005.05.17 19:42:00. You are less than a year old, and you feel jilted. Give it up. No one here would "love to see this die". With the exception of few. I personally take exception to what you said.
New Players, if they join proper corp and know what they are doing, can be just as sucsessful as vetrans and have as much fun. I really aim to be with EVE for years to come. ================

of course you do. you have a clear and overwhelming advantage. all older players do and all would be against this. this is an argument that could go on between newer and older players pretty much forever with no resolution.
just my opinion. I certainly wouldn't like to see eve die without there being an eve 2. I would like to see the nerfing stop but that's probably not going to happen.
and don't start with the lectures about how a newer player can be just as "effective" as an older player. you know that's pure hogwash. I'm too old and to fall for that stroking.

Edited by: Zag Stormchild on 05/01/2006 16:02:46 This is my own fantasy but Homeworld 3 is not going to be out anytime soon... actually it will never come out. Tho if there is one gang that could do a homeworld 3... CCP would fit it.
If you remember, few years ago, a game known as Dune: generation was cancel (thanx to Cryo and it's law suit lol) This is another project that CCP could really take in hand
OR
they can just make EVE II and i'll never ever complain :P

This all depends on the owners of CCP.
If they decide to use the profits from EvE to create a new game under the name CCP then its their choise.
As for the CCP name being too tightly associated with EvE, nothing can be further from the truth, to us EvE players there is a logical and aparent connection but as we are very few as far as the gaming world goes I doubt CCP needs to worry about having been placed in a slot because of EvE (apart from creating a very good game).
I meen is Blizzard unable to create any other games than warcraft/starcraft strategy games? """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

The thing is, CCP has a strong reputation.. any website, fansite and etc you visit. When it comes to support and caring for their customers, CCP is marching on all of them, including Blizzard.
Yes CCP has faults and can do mistakes but who doesn't... :D
So CCP releasing another game is actually going to create a Blizzard effect.. many will buy the new product blindly just because it's CCP.
How many of you have bough World of Warcraft without even thinking or trying it ? All you said was, it's blizzard, it's gona rock.
How many of you will be buying Hellgate London made by THE ORIGINAL team of blizzard (creators of Diablo and Starcraft)

CCP is going to make a Viking game!! Same engine as EvE.
You start out in Norway and you can do whatever you want. farm, fish, buy a dragon ship, *****a monestary, get Danegeld, Pillage Scotland, get lost and set up shop in Iceland, set up trade routes to turkey, play american football, etc.
Loot will be herring, church artifacts, horned helmets etc.
You need Saga points to build your ships.
Fun times ahead Lars!

I'd personally love to see CCP do something new. A setting and fiction that is totally different. While fantasy and sf settings make for easier creation of game fiction, other settings can make for an interesting challenge, and a novelty factor other titles wouldn't have.
Hmm Space Opera mixed with Fantasy has already been done, several times.
The complete eve game physics and engine could be ported to a world where you fly sailing ships through an endless sky and move from floating islands to floating island, only needs a change of ship designs and background story - hmm modding eve.

Yes, using the same skill training stuffs and time sink. CCP is proudly to present Apocalypse Online. The scene takes back to not too futuristic world where the world has been almost totally annihilated by nuclear destructions. Only, humans, mutants (includes para-humans, giant bugs, etc.), machines survive.
The battle on wasteland continues...
Presenting: * Total PvP where players fighting for scarce resources. * Featuring wasteland for all non-stop actions, it is apocalyse, what do you expect? * Underground cities. * Trading outposts where players trade and defense for their homes. * and many more in upcoming alpha release.
In Apocalyse Online, you are only fighting for survival.

By your rationale the only way to make the game fair is once a year reset all accounts back to 0 skillpoints........... now how much fun would that be.
I have a 2year old 27m sp character and I have T2 weapons BS5. Someone in my corp has a 13m sp character and has T2 weapons and BS5.
Where is the disadvantage hes at?? The only difference between us is that I Have Ammar T2 weapons Pulse and Beams and Im now doing Min. Also im heading towards capital ships.... but guess what thats the high end content for older players but just because someones got half my skillpoints doesnt mean that they are half as effective a couple of assualt frigates (3 months training max to fly them properly) could quite easily take out my T2 battleship. ------------------------------------ There's one ***** in the world, one ***** with many faces |

Eve was the rebound game after I lost Earth & Beyond after playing it for over 2yrs. It took awhile but I am continully learning how to play Eve. I've been playing for nearly 2yrs now. The challenge to Eve is it's depth and with all of the patches and upgrades It continues to challenge and attract new players.
Eve is a universe with continuing changes that could encompass player interaction in the space stations like they did in E&B. Fantasy encounters on planets. The possiblilities are immense. The thought of Eve going away saddens me. I still feel the sting of the loss of E&B and to this day I will not play and Electronics Arts game.
My 2 cents.....
