I've decided to make drones my main form of PvP damage, and I was wondering if my time is better served staying with Amarr and using their drone boats, or training Gallente from scratch. I'm sitting on Amarr cruiser 4 and Amarr battlecruiser 3.
Comparing the Vexor to the Arbitrator, the Vexor looks to me like a much better drone boat. Prophecy looks better than the Myrmidon though, since the Myrm looks like a PvE-focused boat due to its repper bonus.
Any suggestions? |

Apples and pears. This goes for the entire drone like of both races, but most of all for these two ships. They have different roles, make decisions based on what you need/want from them. |

There are more Prophecy gangs rolling around than Myrm gangs so I hope that will help you make a decision. I personally can't stand either of them.
Brutix Navy issue is my preferred Armor BC but I have the luxury of being in FW. High Five. Yeah! C'est La Eve . |

Personally I'll rock the Cyclone before any other BC (maybe Brutix because it rocks too) but the Prophecy is real strong right now. Its flexibility to run with any weapons system on top of the drones is very useful and I have seen to great use hybrid, projectile, HAM, and heavy setups. That said, if I were in a BC, I'd much rather fight a Prophecy than a Myrmidon. It's purely a damage mitigation and application thing, though. The Amarr drone boat lineup has long been a sore point for Gallente pilots.
The actual performance difference between the races drone ships is very little IMO, you just have to realise the differences and decide what you prefer. The Gallente drone ships are generally pretty straight forward in concept - Damage/tank. Drone + guns + tank in general. The Amarr line up is more 'tactical' with ewar & cap warfare thrown in. - Drones + TD + neut etc.
Now a lot of people will say the vexor has been used in the same way the arbi has been for a long time. This is true and then question would then become why? If the vexor pilots have been copying the arbi setups doesn't that tell you something?
IMO they are very similar but with slight differences and tbh I'd train up Amarr dessy/cruiser/BC to 5 first then max out your drone skills then gallente dessy/cruiser/BC to 5 after that. This gives you the fastest progression to get good skills with a drone boat line up and while you are building up your skills in flying drone ship you cross train to gallente to access all the drone focussed ships. That is the Way, the Tao.
Balance is everything.

personally I like the gallente for gangs of 3-6. More dps. I love the vexor thorax algos incursus and tristan. Navy vexor is nice too. BCs I really don't have strong opinions on. With the boost to local armor reps gallente will be looking better than they do now though.
For larger fleets I might prefer amarr.

I depends what you want to do with your drone boat. If you want straight up DPS go Gallente. The Vexor brawls passably and has more drone bandwidth, which means more DPS, I used to love it. But then I discovered the wonder that is completely shutting down turret based ships with the TDs of the Arbitrator. You and your gang maintain range while your bonused disruptors hack 50 or 60 percent off your target's range. Plus the Arbi has a bigger drone bay. Not by much, but it means you can replace your spare flight of lights with mediums. A useful upgrade if you carry ECM drones, as light ECM drones are all but useless.
As for the Myrm vs Prophecy thing, do you ever fly with logi? The resist bonus of the prophecy is much more useful than the local rep bonus of the Myrm if you have logi. |

Amarr are neut/drone/TD boats. Gallente are hybrid/drone boats by preference.

Drones have issues, relying on them as your primary DPS source is bad move.
That being said gal ships are typically more effective for small gang/solo and such. Amarr are better fleet ships.

This might be a bit outdated.
Gallente doctrines are the most common nowadays: GÇó Dominix assist fleet GÇó Megathron fleet GÇó Celestis ewar wings GÇó Upcoming ishtar fleets
Vs.
GÇó Prophecy fleets GÇó N-Apoc fleets GÇó Hellcats if anyone does them GÇó Possible cap killer Armageddons when they see use in capital escalated fights?
Am I missing some relevant ones in subcap category? |

For small gang and solo, I'd go for Gallente droneboats over Amarr for sure. That said, I'd still train and use Amarr droneboats, they're good. (just train those skills after the gallente ones). |

all depends on how you intend to use them and fleet comps. gallente seem to be the best for small/med gangs. |
