Acronyms used extensively over time can assume the characteristics of a name. When the original name changes the acronym changes but the old acronym, which in the mean time has become a name all of its own, has no reason to and no intention of changing.
If they drastically change the characteristics of the ship then I will also start calling it an R.N.I. and with time perhaps RNI. In the mean time its plain and simple its still a CNR... |

Every time I see "RNI", I think "Rattlesnake Navy Issue".
Because lets face it, you just know the Caldari have captured a few Rattlesnakes and modified them...

I didn't even notice they had changed the name of it until seeing this thread.
People call it the CNR because that is what it was called for years. Its like that old guy "Richard" downtown. Everyone has been calling him **** since he was a young boy, now he wants everyone to call him Richard, but most people still call him ****.
The Caldari Navy Raven "CNR" has been a very popular ship[ for a very long time. For a long time there was two faction Ravens in the faction battleships list, now the "RSI" Raven State Issue has been moved to the special edition ships category, not that I ever actually saw one in game, but it does exist.
When I see CNI I think OH, did they add a new ship? Oh no, they just changed the name of the CNR to RNI to keep it consistent with other ships. Not a big deal to anyone, most real EVE players will always know exactly what you are talking about when you say CNR.
Seriously though, insulting other players for calling the CNR a CNR just because the name has recently been changed to CNI is pathetic. If you want to complain about such stupid BULLSHlT go to general discussion where that crap belongs. |
