The temperature at a planet with an atmosphere is always warmer than most parts of space due to the fact that the atmosphere keeps part of the heat in.
You may not be able to travel to the sun, but the rest of space should be fairly safe.

I agree that it's a poorly-worded description, (CCP, hire a copyeditor/writer [hint, hint]) but it doesn't have to contradict the known EVE universe.
Alloys.
Just suppose that natural, raw tritanium is unstable at normal human-habitable temperatures. Let's say that it has an obscenely low freezing point, somewhere around the boiling point of helium. Now, that's raw tritanium. If we alloy it with other minerals like pyrite or some other, we could create a material that has tritanium-like characteristics without all the negative aspects of tritanium.
We can handwave away most of the other problems by saying that a ship's shields keep its hull from overheating near a star or when entering atmosphere. (With all the non-aerodynamic shapes of the starships, they'd need something like an anti-gravity drive and shielding to stay in the air and keep from overheating anyway.)

The rest of what crew? D**n - there are stowaways on my ship!
Don't panic- there are no other crew.
actually battleships have a crew of approx 6000. ------------- Please make Minmatar overpowered, CCP |

flouride explodes when introduced to water, but in toothpaste it is harmless and safe. The end product has the ability to change an elements properties.
so when trit is used in the manufacturing process in shuttles and stations, it obviously stabalises the element....
maybe...

EVE battleships have a crew of 1. Hence the pod.
A battleship doesnt need a crew of 6000 it just needs a user interface & display that is simplified to the level of say your HUD in EVE. Also youd need an insanely high MTBF of any operating parts or youd be unable to fly due to the amount of repair neccesary. Nope the average BS has a crew of over 6000, all for mantianence (well probably some for things like feeding the matianance staff ect. but mainly just for mantience)

ARRRGH! I thought this argument was OVER!
CCP conclusively told us in Hands of a Killer that our ships have crews. They're just fewer than they would be if we didn't have capsules.

Hehe, I think we need a big flashing banner on the front page of the website that says, "Oh btw, the ships have crews!" Maybe then people will cotton on to the idea.

Yeah, I never understood that..

Oh noes! The end of the world! Eh, it's just one world, there's plenty of others, right?

This is so horrible and sickening. Ccp might as well dismantle the cluster and quit making video games.

The hell? Temperatures as in anything between -50C and +50C. Trit acts funny between those temperatures.
Therefore it can't be used in any construction that is in contact with those temperatures, since the void of space is quite a lot colder than -50C, it can be used as the outer hulls of starships.
I fail to see where the problem is. -------------------------------------------------------- Ensign BSC Military
