There is a world of difference between if it makes you happy, and if you enjoy it.
A game doesn't have the capability to make a human happy imo, not the way I percive true happiness. There is however the aspect of overcoming fear. And since Eve is such a 'real' game like no other, one has the opportunity to overcome some real concrete fears via this game. And by overcoming such fears, to get a bit closer to happiness in real life, since the fears were real.
It is similar to say, chess, or 'go' (the board game), I used to play a lot of Go, and I had a teacher once that told me that by overcoming the natrual fear that almost any human would feel in 1vs1 situations, you actualy become a more 'whole' person. That is the same as getting closer to becoming truly happy for me.
And as for enjoying the game... Of course I enjoy Eve. I think anyone that finds no joy in the game should find another one, because... its a game :-) In times when I found myself getting too frustrated and enjoying the game less, I unsubscribed for a few months, its simply not worth the time. If we're to believe many of the posts on this forum, you're far from alone in this.

I have to admit, it's incredibly demoralizing to run into someone who just PvPs on another level, and even if there was five of you at that fight he'd probably kill all of you.
"Caught" a Proteus in a Curse, activated neuts. He just tackles me and proceeds to effortlessly kill me. 3 neuts on him for 90 seconds, his guns don't turn off, his tackle doesn't go down, he exhausts my ASB and I die. No idea how.
Check eve-kill. 98.74% efficiency, over a trillion ISK destroyed. Yeah. |

Yes, I get that those exist, but 3 curse neuts is -90/sec, a cap booster provides like +40. |

I'm certain it doesn't make me happy but when faced with the question I cant say that I enjoy it either. I guess that means that the persistence system works as I am still here. I do enjoy doing something with friends (made in game or otherwise) but that pleasure is not tied to Eve. Eve provides the relevant utility's to co-operate and work together but other games also offer that. That is in general but when subject to a thrilling high sec war dec Eve is not lacking in fun it is simply obsolete. It has been much debated elsewhere but essentially I find it to be a system that removes the utility of being able to do something with friends from the game. In theory it is supposed to allow for fighting but the likelihood of there being a fight is so excessively low that playing something else for a week is a far more rewarding use of time than Eve. At that point Eve is depressing as each time it becomes more and more likely that someone stops coming back after the week or have become engrossed in something else for a few months. I have found that Eve has naturally led me to playing other games more even though I came to Eve because I wanted to play Eve. There are other features that seem to have a similar lack of design and effect to some extent but it is the poor quality of high sec war that probably has the greatest and longest lasting impact on my enjoyment of the game.
I do recognise the potential of Eve and I do enjoy being a part of it in a broad sense but it does sometimes seem as if its development has stood still, poor solutions endure and there seems a real fear of change from both the community and developer. I guess it's like the poor idea of having the topic title/breadcrumbs in orange at the top of this page when the background contains more than a hint of orange to the extent that I cant read the topic title; it is obviously a poor solution and is easily rectified but I can have no expectation of it improving any time soon so I know to ignore it as best I can even though it is frustratingly obvious. |

Space facinates me.. EVE fills that gap. The community is brilliant for the most part. Adrenaline fueled PVP still gives me 'the shakes'. Reputation is king If i so choose, i can be a complete Bar Stuard. I have more Friends in EVE than in RL. but i choose it to be this way. Making grown men cry over pixels is fun.
There is probably loads more. But all of it combined is why i keep coming back for more. |

I like it, it entertains me, its "fun" to me right now. However, they will be hard pressed to beat Star Citizen, and a lot of the empty promises in Eve will be why I quit playing it.

Happy ? No. Happy is an amazingly rare feeling you get when something extraordinary happens.
Do I enjoy the game ? I guess I do up to a point.
Its hours / days / weeks of boredom followed by minutes / hours of insane adrenaline rush.
The thing I hate most about it is - ME ! As soon as I get ahead in this game - ISK wise - it all goes away to SOMER and endless hours of rating commence once again.
But if it wasnt for loosing endless billion on gambling there would be no reason for me to login except when fleet ping goes out. It takes me a week to amass enough ISK for PVP and PLEX for coming few months and then boredom settles in real quick.
As a coalition mate once said - EVE is an amazingly boring game we pay to play in order to have minuets of fun. Think this sums it quite nicely. |

Eve doesn't exactly make me happy. But it keeps me interested because it's so complex. It keeps me satisfied though. That's really all Im after in a game. Interest and challenge.
Its why all the other mmos suck turds. No complexity = no interest.

That is like asking "how many unknown unknowns do you think you will ever find?". For all you know it could be a complete sucess or failure. Speculating on it now is just questionable and foolish. "Entitlement" is a euphemism for "I hate the way you play and it makes me cry like a baby". If you fantasize about being immoral it means you enjoy being immoral deep down. |
