something like highs 4 cruise 4 350TII hybrids
mids large elecrochem 3 cap II
lows 3 TII hardeners 1 adaptive nano II 1 LAR II 1 MAR II 1 RCU
not sure if this will fit though - any suggestions?

My newbie Typhoon setup for the missile ROF buff. Not an uber-phoon, but not too bad and it's as good as my skills allow. Kind of like a Domi with more missile damage and less drone damage.
Highs 4 x Heavy Diminishing Nos 4 x Named Heavy Missile Launchers (you could do 2xHeavy and 2xCruise if you want, or a torp and 3 heavies)
Mids 4 x Best Cap Rechargers you can get
Lows 2 LAR II's 4 NPC-Specific Hardeners 1 CPR
5 heavy and 5 medium drones picked for the NPC's (could also use lights instead of mediums for the frigs but my mediums do just fine)
This setup's easy to learn, easy to use. A bit light on the damage, but you'll survive most if not all missions. I also tried it out on a corp mate PvP and it did pretty good considering he's better than me and has been playing longer.

I'm currently working on a setup for VS angels in lvl 4s but think I may have to swap out the 1200s, but I do love that extra bit of range.

For general PVE I use...
Hi: 4x D650mm, 4x Siege Med: 4x Cap Rechargers. (It has the ****tiest cap EVER) Low: 1x LAR, 4x Active Hardeners, 1x Gyro, 1x BCU, 1x PDS/CPR
and if you feel really ballsy for PvP....
Hi: 4x D650mm, 4x Siege Med: 1x MWD, 1x Web, 1x Scrambler, 1x Large cap injector. Low: 1x LAR, 6x Local Nanos.

Just tried it and it suks donut holes In a lvl three Portal To War, 2nd mission of 5 and the shields went faster than when I armor tank. This with just frigs firing. I'd say save your money and go with armor tank

I just purchased this ship, love the uniqueness compared to the others in the field these days. It'll be awhile before I take the typhoon out into combat however, I don't quite feel ready heh.
Reading through this post, has anyone ever considered shield tanking the ship for lvl4's? I happen to have on an alt a gistix xlarge shield booster and would love to see some shield tanking setups that are viable for lvl4 missions :)
My first guess would be the gisti, 2 active hardeners, 1 cap charger, then packing the bottom with relays and pdu's....but then again I am quite new to all this.

you know, in all reality, none of you guys SEEM to consider the set ups for missions. almost every single one of you has the highs fully stocked with guns and launchers, when in all honesty most of us got tractorbeams in one of the highs. not just that... some of you put on huge stuff on top, all the while putting huge repairers on the lows. barely any RCU's shown in these set ups.
what's going on here?

what's going on here?
Practical experience from hundreds of level 4 missions run in a Typhoon in my case. As for fitting mods, if you don't need them, why use them? I would happily downgrade autocannon size in order to fit a damage mod instead of an RCU or PDS (and did just that). Drop the tractor and put it on a cleanup ship is the way to go IMO. I rarely bother to collect cans anyway, but if I did, I'd rather do it in a ship setup for after the mission has been completed. J.A.F.O.

It doesnt make sense, but I like the Raven party because it makes little sense to not put a big NOS and tractor on it because theres nothing better to put in those slots.

I warped in and i was instantly aggroed by every ship in sight. I had enough time to warp out but just barely. The old setup had a 1600mm plate which I don't have here... maybe if I drop something?
I haven't had a chance to test it yet, but it's essentially a copy of the standard dominix tank. Because of the siege launchers, it's an obscenely tight fit, requiring high cap skills and adv. weapons upgrades 3. I'm thinking of trying to shove a smartbomb into it as well, but for that, I'd need to drop the cap booster.
The 3 nos should make it possible to infinitely run 1 of the t2 reppers and with both running, it should handle 144 seconds before you need to run the cap booster 800's
I'm not really a missile user, but the reason I'm using them here is because the dps is similar to autocannons and they burn out a lot more slowly. I figure I'd be using my whole cargo with 800's.

Not old in SP (playing since june 2006), spent some in industrial, mining refining, so guess my fighting skills aren't at top ..
Named if possible, works well with "normal" versions or cheap faction
High : 4*arbalest siege launcher 2*heavy nos 2*small tractor beam (yes, i'm lazy.)
Med : 3*cap rech 1*target painter
Low : 1*LAR 5 ou 6 hardeners (i mix passiv and actif + a damage control if 5 hardeners, add whatever you want (cap power relay or balistic control)
Drones : 5*ogre 1 5*hammerhead 1
I've got no T2 except LAR, and little by little i bought some faction or named for each piece of the fit .. the only lvl 4 i didn't manage (nor tried) is enemies abound .. all others event silent or zazz were success :D

Highs: 4x torp launchers, (named t2, whatever, fitting isnt an issue on this boat), 4 Large Autos ( using 650mms personnaly) Mids: MWD, Invuln feild or rat specific t2 hardener, 2 T2 Large Sheild Extenders Lows: 4 Sheild Power Relays, 2 T2 BCU, 1 (best you can rationalize) Damage Control.
Works stupidly well on Angels, and is just about as effective on Guristas. Regardless, its a bit of a silly fit, and really, really shouldnt be taken into PVP. __________________________________ Vale Heavy Industries "We'll Haul Your Stuff For Free"(Because you didnt pay us not to.)

Heres my lvl 3 setup...Im still low SP 3.5mil but my phoon can do every lvl 3 pretty easy with no warp outs. Only mission gives me trouble is the new Portal to War.
Highs: X3 Med. 425's X4 Heavy missle luanchers (best you can loot/buy.) X1 Tractor beam. (lazy)
Med: X1 100mn t2 X3 Cap rechargers (I use the F-10 kind.)
Lows: X1 LAR (I use accom.) X1 MAR (I use accom.) X3 EANM X1 WCS (Yes stabs are ghey but every 30 missions or so I get jammed.)
Drones: Best of whatever comes out of the loot cans. Only have 3 drones atm, will train for 5 one of these days.
With this setup most lvl 3's are cake. I even have crap gunnery skills and minnie BS at only 3. All my skills are in cruisers...will be in a rapier in 7 days. This is my mission running / make my cash machine.

-Tech II/named whenever possible -Runs the LAR, hardeners, and web forever -Loot while you kill -Great sniper; kills quickly up close as well. Not a big tank but things should be dying fast enough that you won't have to tank much. -Swap out BCS for more tank if you're not killing fast enough

The painter is there to help me hit cruisers outside webber range, aswell as to increase the missiledamage. Im using med drones already but will tryout different drones, but i can already say that frigs are my smallest problem
P.S. I never use warpstabs, i deserve to die if i make stupid mistakes that force me to warp out
Edit2: Finished the second stage of vengeance now and i have to say its a peace of cake in this ship, problem is as i feared cruisers and BS above 20km. The 4 sieges can kill a 480k BS but it takes them some time, those closerange bs die pretty quick though. I really hope that the sentries will fix those long/mid-range probs i have left.
Ok my setup allowed me to do a vengeance mission without warpout, though xevni was a tough nut to *****. I strongly advise to use sentries as heavies just dont cut it(had those drone crawling bugs again)."
How far do some BS stay away then in lvl 4 missions?.. And what is the max range that ships want to stay in lvl 3 missions?

Well, I just went up against about 30 Coreli frigs, intys and cruisers in my last level 3 mission and even after I aggroed the entire lot (oops!), they never got more than 55% of my shields, this fit pwns! 4x Malkuth sieges, 2x Knaves and 2x dual 425mms and the rest expanders and relays. Thank you, Arshes for making it possible for me to d*mn nearly afk my level 3s now.

I came back and decided to typhoon it up in level 4s to check out the "new" (now old) bonuses. So far its better than any amarr battleship ive took into level 4s. I ended up inspired by a raven/domi hybrid fitting idea. I use this (tested for reasonable results. I never post stuff I havent fought in.. to much theory not enough boots on the ground):
The domravphoon [High] 4xXT9000 Cruise missle launcher 2x1200mm prototype arty (change to e500 for really strong tank) 1xDrone Range extender
[Mid] 4xEutectic Capacitor
[Low] 2x Large Armor Repairer Tech 2 4x rat specific hardener Cap Relay
[Drones] 5x Heavy 10x Light tech II
Somethings I feel are mistakes in stuff I read:
To little cap jeez. This rig runs the large armor repairer forever. And can run the second for a good bit for that break in boost. And its with the 4 resist hardeners.
I think the cruise are much better choices than siege. To many cruisers. But also the cruise range out to lock range which is nice.
I think fitting in a 20k boost to drone range is really working for this ship. Remember its only one of two battleships that can field 5 lights than switch to 5 heavies.
Speaking of lights I think using medium drones is a mistake. The 5 heavies are a no brainer as they do good dps. Dps I get to use out to 65k =). But beyond that the mediums compete to much for the heavies roll while not helping on the low sig sized stuff as much. The tech II light drones cover the smaller stuff and redploy fast. So if I see a bunch of frigs coming at 65k. I launch the light drones where they engaged those frigs around 50k usually. Busting up the frigs good but when they are done they zoom back and I deploy the dps work horses of 5 heavies. I think using mediums to engage frigs just ignores the fact that you can carry a whole set of heavies AND lights. Mediums are more for when you cant carry both. Though carrying one medium to back up a lost heavy while still carrying replacement lights might be smarter.
I admit if you had to jump into some really really heavy stuff that required 2x large armor repairers to run a long while than switching the two guns for e500s might be wise. As it is though this works pretty good.
DPS of 4xCruise 2x1200 with rof mods and 5 heavy drones at 40k is good but I dont have a fancy graph.
This is all pve chatter. In the end I think the 5 heavy droning, rof modded cruise missle spamming,rof modded guns for extra punch, and small sig radius with best in class speed typhoon is a slightly under-rated ship.

I like that last set-up, one of the few decent ones I've seen posted here. You're definetly right about not using medium drones if you can use heavies. Heavies can hit cruisers just fine and do far more dps.

Mids: 1 100MN AB II 1 Sensor Booster II 2 Cap recharger II
Lows: 1 L armor repairer II 3 Energized Adaptive Nanomembrane II 3 Active hardeners to suit mission rats
Drones: 5 Heavy (to suit) 5 Medium (to suit)
This does require fairly good drone skills. But then any good phoon pilot does, anyway. ;)

Hi: 4x 720mm, 4x heavy launcher Md: whatever really Lw: 1x LAR, 2x appropriate active hardeners, 2x gyro, 2x BCU Drones: 5x heavy, 5x med (of approp. damage type)
Med slots can be web, target painter, cap rechargers, omnidirectional tracking links (if predominantly using heavies)...it makes little difference really.

2x Hardeners 2x Energized Plate 1x Damage Control 1x LAR 1x Cap Relay (???)
5x Medium Drones 5x Heavy Drones
I only occasionally use the AB, when I want to close into NOS/AC range. I generally don't even use the AC on anything smaller than BC. I can do Mordus Headhunters level 4 with this setup (in fact, this was modified to be able to do Mordus Headhunters level 4, I use to have another setup, but it required much warping).

Sure you can. Falloff for me is 19km, which puts my maximum effective range at about 22 to 25km depending on my ammo. The guns will continue to hit to a lesser extent out to about 35km. There are lots of targets to train ac's on within those ranges while your torps and drones take care of the more distant NPC's. With the split weapon systems on the Typhoon, your best bet is to play to that rather than trying to force the ship to do things it's bad at (artillery) IMO. 4 siege launchers given decent missile skills are quite capable of tearing up any battleship you need to deal with on level 4's. J.A.F.O.

Personally I think fitting tractor beams (and now salvagers) in weapon slots is a waste. Its much quicker to have a ship set up for looting level 4's and bookmark the cans. I prefer an Exequror.
As for setup :
4xD650 4xsiege
AB, Cap rechargers
LAR, 4 hardeners, 2 CPR
You can upgrade everything to T2 if you have AWU5, if not drop a hardener (for a PDU) or the AB for a web.

Shield tank setup i posted on scrapheap-challenge-
...Been using the Tempest, Maelstrom and 'Phoon for LV4 missions recently. The setup below for 'Phoon got me out of a very tricky situation in the LV4 Vengeance mission where the mother******* snakes on the mother******* plane get warped on top of a spawn of about 20-30 rats (all within striking range) and find your self surrounded by like 8 big asteriods. I lost an uninsured :oops: Mael to this mission when i got hooked on one of those f*kin 'roids and then the 'lag' hit when the little ba***rds engaged. I didn't stand a chance.
I didn't want to give up on this mission so decided to try a different tack...
'Phoon setup for a 'hit and run, clear the font lines' kind of thing.
Highs 4 Siege 4 720mm Artie or 3 and 1 Drone Link
Mids 100mn ABII Large SBII Rat Specific TecII Hardener Cap Booster or rat specific (never tried it but wld work well as i hardly needed the booster charges)
Lows 2 BCUII 2 I-Stabs 3 Nano's
5 Light II 5 Med II
Rigs Kinetic shld projectile tracking Speed mod can't rmember which one
This setup or very similar has got me out of a very tight spot or two in missions where the mother******* snakes on the mother******* plane don't wanna be a sitting duck. It has a bit less damage than the other min heavy hitter BS's but it's more of a situational ass saver and works well in this role.
As my skills get better i will think of better ways to utilise those other 4 high slots. I want bigger guns in there but can only fit 2 or 3 1200mm.
I hope someone finds it as usefull as me.

Mid 2x 18% cap 1x T2 100 AB 1x open ( used burst 4 scrammers, sensor booster 4 jammers or webber)
LO 1x T2 LAR 1x T2 MAR 3x T2 active hardners ( all flavors) 1x passive named all hardner 1x 1600 rolled tungsten plate
rig 1x armor pump of lowest resist
drones 5x T2 med 5x T2 heavy * dont use sentrys cause i have to go back for them once deployed. drones can be controlled out to around 55k
I use this setup for missions and it affords me with many options on how to play the rats(favorite is run and gun)so i can pile wrecks in a smaller area, which makes it easier to salvage later. note: can run med repper contiously and only use large if im taking a real serious beating.
to an extent this setup may also work with PvP.
