noticed some strange behavior from the bursts last night. i was using a jamming scorp with an burst fitted, a corp mate was in a prophesy, he launched his drones against me and i let off the burst expecting the locks to be broken. they were not. however his lock was, which was very unexpected. i jammed him then set burst off again, expecting the drones to now be unlocked and unable to lock again, however the drone lock wasnt even broken. it appears that this module which is IMHO ideally suited as a drone defence, is not working properly, the sensor strength of the drones is well within the power of the burst, and therefore the lock should be broken. if the controling ship of the drones is also jammed then the drones once 'unlocked' shouldnt be able to be re-targetted. is this a post patch bug?

That's a no-no
Anyway if you keep attacking the drone's master, they just keep locking back to you instantly so it's kinda useless

The drones only reacts to *new* aggression. If you keep firing, they won't bother you at all. If you activate a new module which would activate the drones, too, such as a launcher that's just been reloaded, the drones will start auto-attacking again (if their targeting allows them to).
As far as I know the Bursts are broken and do not jam properly. Will have to test it.
The language filter needs an update. Check Sharks With Frickin' Laser Beams' forum for a good profanity filter |

I tested them on sisi right after RMR and they did work there as intended. But they are still fairly useless.
Only use I can see for them are if you want to warp away from a short range tackler. Align for warp, hit the burst and warp away before he has time to lock you again.

In an engagement the other night, I kept losing my lock, but was able to reaquire immediately. I thought, hang on something is a bit fishy here. Right enough, when the fella died he did have an ECM burst fitted so that explained that.
They work, but only if you use them right. The target in question could have aligned to warp, could have timed his burst and warp out, but he didnt, so he died. Shame really, nice idea.

I thought they have always been this way. It breaks the lock but thats it, and NPC can reacquire instantly if they have reason too. ____ If your not dyin' your not tryin'. |
