Does this guide really have nothing about the old tricks of tossing bookmarks on escrow as complex bookmarks, dropping bookmarks at gates in fake loot cans with labels like "apoc and other ships" or "my loot cans"? - Proud member of the [23].

It does mention dropping BM's at gates but I never escrowed BM's. I will add this point in the next version and credit it to you. Thank you.

Yeah, I remember some guy selling instas through tama after they moved all the gates, all BMs each side of the system were perfect, so the pilots thought they were pukka, jump into Tama and all BMs lead to his gankapos. Was really quite funny.
Carlsberg dont make Eve Pilots, but if they did, i wouldnt be one of them.

Ah yes, people that manage to escape my clutches are often left with the impression I was just being terribly nice to them - a side benefit and also leaves you possiblity that you may find them easier prey in any future encounters.
I'll add that in my next version as well, thanks Joe Fowl.

Great job..
My fave two false BMs to drop at gates...
'spare mining apoc'
and
'hidden belt siseide'
both work real well

How you expect anyone else to fall for this if you post it in the eve-o forums, wouldn't everyone just avoid your gang invites now?

I haven't done it for a while and thought I would impart my knowledge with the rest of the community.
Also not everyone reads the forums or every section of the forums and I believe there is a pharse along the lines of there being 'one born every minute', so I think there will still be a suitable volume of prey out there to profit from.

Sigma,
hey thanks - I *was* wondering what you were planning to do *after* that gang invite. And I can attest she's polite in local. Was kinda epecting you to uncloakd somewhere nearby however so sorry, didn't accept.
Next time I might, and tell you all about my hobbies.

I'm not sure who Sigma is I am assuming you meant me. Now you know exactly what I was planning.

My pirate bootahy is incredibly jealous, she would take you in a straight fight any day. (She's 5'11" and blonde and I wouldn't even fight her.)

Guide updated with some minor changes and credits.
I am again appealing for anyone else that has experience in this or any amendments or additions.
Also should I appeal to have this stickied? I feel this is a valid form of pirating and am not aware of any other guides concerning this.
Opinions and comments appreciated.

Your kidding right?
First off I dont think as many people surf the boards as people think, other wise all thoes shuttles and kestrals and other ships flying "Gank me" runs loaded with shrink wraped junk (and sometimes not even that)in high sec would not get blown every day I run them in high security. But somehow I keep getting blown up.
Heck Ive been gone so far as to set myself up in the trade channel with a bogus run chatting away about where Im going to deliver something to the customer and so far its cost me some chump change and junk ships. Heck most of the ships I lost were newbiships.
And guess what? I often see the same hauler waiting to do a scoop and scoot every time I fly through their little wanabe trap and get blown up.
hope he liked the can full of nothing I droped! Irealyneedtoburnoffthat12packofredbullIjustdrankinonesetting

I've only had a brief read, seen as how I'm not at home. thought i'd give a bit of input though, if you dont have it already.
When I used to have a deathstar, you could convo some poor local, then drop it in mid convo, like it kicked you. After this you can then send a gang invite, which the dude will usually glance at and assume it is an invite for the continuation of the convo.
Guess what you do when he's in your gang

Great guide.
I want to echo the guy who mentioned putting it in .pdf or a different format, though. The .doc format is one of the ones capable of carrying a Microsoft Word viral payload (macro virus), and so I fear that the paranoid (and how paranoid should one be about files in dangerous formats uploaded by notorious pirates?) might shrink from ever reading the document.
Me, I gave it a moment's thought and decided that Lanfear's Bane was far too famous and proud a nic to be associated with lame hack attempts, and read it anyway (after taking normal precautions of course, dobovai no probovai).
I even have one tiny suggestion for improvement. As somebody who salvages a lot of stuff floating around stargates, I can state with authority that a dropped can with shipwreck goods is much less plausible these days than it was in the pre-wreck era. Might your bookmark trick work better if you take a shuttle or frigate to the gate with your bookmark (in several copies) and a few cheap items in the hold? Mark finds the bookmark in a wreck, he'll be much less suspicious of it.
I dunno why I'm sharing this idea, the person it will kill someday will, with my luck, be ME. ------------------ Ironfleet.com Proposal: Automated Ore Return Vehicles |

Thanks for the comments guys. Unfortunately due to warp to zero being in place now travel time in systems is now very, very small in comparison to Pre-Rev. This makes pos-ganking increasingly difficult as you just don't have the window of opportunity anymore. Makes the guide rather out of date but still a good introduction I suppose.
Pre-Rev I did have one last go at it to rake in a few florins and found that the most effective strategy was 'OMG! I'm a noob! Can you help me finish my mission!' (when you take into account opening banter such as 'actually I am in a hauler - change to the cans story') very effective.
Neal your best bet would be floating your alt at the pos and claiming 'OMG! Neal Cassady is atacking my <insert hauler>, he's only in a Rifter, can you help meh?! I can thank him but I can't escape!' and then flesh the tale out with minor details.
