Seems to me the problem with null sec is the ability to die. and people are more then happy to kill you. since this is the case and people in null sec seem to not like the route of live and let live this was the result of a discussion i had during fleet op, figured id mention it here too for other miners or just anyone.
Since people mine in high sec because of concord protection. people use orca in the fields in high sec, but not rorquel's in null( a real waste). among other things that make null sec not a good idea. here a couple of points.
there is a security standing that has penalties for negative, these are well known so no need to explain them. but nothing at all for a higher standing then 0
Give something in return, to help in null sec for a +5.0 or even an +8.0 security standing. love to here the ideas on what this should be. and ill go first. this should be in contrast to the penalties for a -5.0 or -8.0 in empire and would seem fair to me to get something for earning that high.
My suggestion is null sec protection. heres my take on this. allow for corps with a combined "security" standing to tame systems. simple result of colonization is the introduction of civilization to wilderness. so if a corp moves into a system and works hard in the system to make it more civilized ( lots of work, don't make this out that i'm saying it should be easy.) to me this would be an increase in security standing of the system eventually to .5. this wouldn't be permanent. only as long as the corp actiivally keeps the system under control. if the corp gets the system to .5 a security force would then protect the people working there.
simply put the corp moves in and does the work to secure the system themselves rather then the governments doing it. then this security translates to making the system secure for activities similar to a .5 system. "before everyone screams" this would not be an easy thing, colonization is never easy. but this work would first need at least a 5.0 security standing with the entire corp. so pirates of any kind would make this more difficult or even impossible and prevent piratism in the corp since a drop below 5.0 or 8.0 would cause the loss of this after a warning period to fire the offending corp member, with sec standing loss just like low or high sec systems for piracy or bad behavior but at the same time the empire based pure industrial corps could work on building security standing with concord to get concord to be willing to assist them with a division in null sec as long as they are actively helping to keep the system secure, concord isn't going to do it. this could be killing a certain number of rats, with each rat after the initial amount equal to a certain length of time. this form of steady addition would allow the combat pilots to work on security while other pilots could work on whatever activity they came to null sec for, mining in this posts case. so if it takes 250 rats for initial amount hypothetically, then each rats afterwords =10 mins extended security. or something similar. Smaller corps have trouble getting into null sec because they don't have the manpower to secure them this would help those corps, but larger corps that have the man power to do it themselves would need to work harder to keep a 5.0 corp wide standing for this benifit, instead needing to use the extra man power as security. so smaller corps could get benifit while it is harder for larger corps to use this power. also this protection does not work for anyone outside of the corp. so other pilots that enter the system are not under concord protection. so there aren't alt corps running around screwing with null sec standing to protect pirates. this limitation would give only a benifit to corps filled with law abiding pilots.
OK now relax all the furrowed brows i sense. what i just mentioned is not so far fetched from reality, this is what usually happens in a colony, wilderness is tamed, but only as long as work is done to keep it tamed.
remember this post is mainly about what people think is a fair benefit to a high security standing. i think there should be one. and it should be equal to the difficulty we all know it is to get even 5.0 or even 8.0 sec standing. also this beinfit should mirror the negative effect, of making getting into empire difficult or impossible at -8.0. so an 8.0 sec standing should make getting into null sec or low sec easier, since the pilot has proven they are law abiding the law should abide by them. well i could talk for hours on why i think there should be a benefit but i'm curious what you all think it should be.
what benefit do you think concord should bestow for a high or extremely high security standing, for pilots of any kind that want to go to lower security systems, or even just at all.
P.S. i know your security standing translates to corp standing with concord stations. perhaps that would be the final step in what i suggested, and the corp needs to build a concord station in the system, and supply it with fuel and supplies to support the concord division the corp standing has convinced concord to give access to. pipe dreams can be used for plumbing of what becomes reality you know! so let her those ideas, and be nice :P

I did read the entire post... I should get a medal.
I do have some concerns about possible exploits. - can this Null CONCORD instapop a Titan ? - can a 1 man Corp claim such a system and get CONCORD protection for his POS - do you need to wardeck the corp to avoid the CONCORD ban hammer... which does negate the whole purpose

I thought that would happen, my suggestion for this post was my suggestion. i really want to hear about others suggestions. i think a benifit to miners for high security standing should be there and with my suggestion on colonization juat turns this thread into a focus on debating me. so lets try again. what do you think a high security standing should do for people (miners and industry in this case) should be? ill repost my suggestion once i think this thread gets going. i have a responce to you both but ill save it. |

A higher sec status should only increase CONCORD's response time in high sec. CONCORD is simply not present in low/null sec.
... but as long as we are throwing out troll bonuses for high sec standing:
