And the crowds of eager info-heads crowd around the data-kiosk waiting for their next fix...the old data was good but it's not longer enough to feed the deep knawing NEED.
The desperate need to KNOW. Like a narcotic drug, data in this age has become not just a commodity, but a psychological and indeed physical essetial in life. Like breathing, a flow of good, fresh, clean living data means the difference between life and death in this universe.
In recent months an unprecedented massive wave of design changes has flowed through production of all 4 Nations' navies, almost as if some unseen hand from above reached down and tweaked reality. Nicknamed the 'Revelation' the changes happened so quickly and are changing the face of the galaxy... and the Concord Core Datatree is gathering, crunching and creating a new flow...
Meanwhile all the branches throughout every corner of space waits with baited breath. Every ship, every NAVdex, every tourist guide, every CADbot waits in anticipation. The need like a hard core of terror grows like a cancer inside. Vainly using the old data for reference but knowing it was no good. People making decisions using the oldest technology of all... rule of thumb... and they are dying because of it.
Information. We all need it. Desire it. Cry out for it in the cold depths of space. Die for it.
The rumour has it that the new flow will be available from the datatree today. We all hate concord but know that without it all would be anarchy like centuries past. We hate our drugs but we will never stop needing it. Concord give us the flow! GIVE US THE FLOW! We need the new flow now!
We gather. We wait. We wait for that which cannot be waited for. We wait for the ecstacy of being the first into the flow. To be filled with the glow of life and potential. To know that through us, the universe will live again, and our need can once again return to the background...until the next time...
