I'm bewildered by these posts.
Before RMR, you couldn't do anything about ore-thieves, after RMR you now have the ability to do anything about it - yet you want to go back to them being able to steal ore from you without being able to do anything about it?
Use secure cans, use an escort, or wait until they move away and take back your ore...

This feature is great against macro miners/isk farmers. Spent awhile moving tens of thousands of m3 their into my can and wait for them to take it back. Most are gettin smart now and wont take it back so all you got to do is pop the can and no ore for them. I dont do it to non macro/isk farmers though that is just lame. |

QFT. Makes no sense at all.
CCP has even knows it. They've added the word BIGSHOT to the URL of my avatar. |

You may not be smart enough to play Eve. Maybe you should play something else instead.

Indeed. But the root cause is not what you think.
There is FRACK ALL for documentation on how this system works. Ask any player who's signed up since RMR, or even a little further back, and chances are they'll have no clue what the can flagging system affords them in the way of rights. Conversely, dangers.

i think this is a classic case of be caerful what you wish for...i remember when all the miners were crying out for the flagging..so many pirates/ore thieves warned them that it would be abused and they would regret it...i remember hering all the miners sitting in jita laughing and chuckling in glee at how they can now kill the ore theives. But now reality has set in and it is more trouble to them than its worth...so bearing that in mind please CCP leave can flagging as it is...it makes high sec that little less secure for the whinny high sec cowards.. a person who gets hit once by the flag will learn not to fall for it again if they cntinue to fall for it a saying comes to mind

And....of course....you can positively identify a macro miner/isk farmer beyond a shadow of a doubt...every time, in any place

I heard that CEOs can delete corp mail?
I know that emails I sent even a month after joining CAIN aren't there to see anymore, and when I joined there were emails around still from people who had gone inactive before the summer. It was really confusing reading about 'upcoming wars' that ended long before I came to EVE.

However, you can test it out with an alt if you have a second account, or with, *gasp* a friend, and discover everything you need to know in about five minutes. I agree that it should be properly documented, but it's still no substitute for experience.

Your a moron, if it wasn't for the can flagging he would of used a hauler to come steal it. But because of the can flagging you can use bigger ships to stop people doing that you can even invite people into your gang to stop them doing that.

While I'm in favour of can flagging, I *really* want to see the option to remove other people's flagged cans from the scanner. Currently, they all just show up as "Cargo Container", regardless of owner; it's annoying to travel 50km after a battle to loot a can, only to find that it's been left behind by someone else.

No.
1. Use your HEAD while playing, or 2. Petition CCP to nerf stupid players.
Flagging works just fine.

Then the current system is open to exploit by simply stealing some ore in a shuttle, warping back to station after being attacked, grabbing your raven and heading back to belt to kill the miners. That doesn't seem right to me somehow. However, I haven't used jetcans much since Covetors came out so I don't really know.
Here is my question: Why use jetcans at all when you can just fill your barge's hold and take it back and forth to the station using bookmarks? I've done both and the time I lose warping around is more than made up for in the prevention of all the complications mentioned in this post. Secure cans are safe but can't hold anywhere near what a Covetor with two cargo expanders on it can hold and your ship is the safest can of all...

No, please leave it alone - I love it.
There aren't many funnier sights than a barge webbing and warp scrambling a hauler and then blowing it up with a load of drones.

It's actually a really good feature to allow you to have duels in Empire. Just jettison a piece of ammo and have your opponent 'steal' it. As long as you shoot first, you can fight each other without penalty. OK, it's not perfect, but it's an opportunity to have some fun fights without losing sec status in low sec or trekking all the way to 0.0 just to have a quick scrap with an old friend in another corp, or in your alliance. Also useful for testing setups. Actually, I think this is possibly the best feature in RMR.

Edited by: MuffinsRevenger on 06/01/2006 13:40:56 the can flagging system do realy suck for miners, it only invites grifers and other people who realy shoud be concentrating on jumping of high bridges in real life from this point of wive the system realy is broken
but apart from that it's actualy precisly as Wanoah say, it's tons of fun! finaly you can fight your friends thats not in the same corp without security hit and having to risk other people in lowsec, it has given me lots of funduring the last two weeks
just to bad it had to be a pain in the ass for those who do prefer mining

that trick doesn't actually work. i tried it yesterday against an ISS maller (i was in a deimos ) but i still got the sec hit for starting combat, and then another for destroying his ship.
on another note, i can't log into the forums with my main account, should i be worried?

How about "Secure Cans"? If not that...how about minning with a corp? Or Buddy? With a hauler?...No? You dont want to do that? Oh well then ZIP IT! and play the game!

heres a thought make it so the stealer cannot change ships while flagged, so for 15 min u steal in a iti thats all you can fly. you steal your skrewd. no more cheap tactics or switching ships or other bs thats been going on.

Not sure why it didn't work for you, it worked fine for me without any consequences. the order of events has to be:
Player 1 jettisons 1 piece of trit or whatever. Player 2 'steals' the trit. Player 2 is flashing red now. Player 1 can shoot Player 2. Player 1 will be flashing red on Player 2's overview. Player 2 can shoot Player 1.
The pod is not fair game though, so don't do anything to that.
