The name changes went waaays to far, seriously.
The "Remote Shield Booster" is only the beginning, it gets worse and worse with the "Large Remote Capacitor Transmitter" and "Remote Tracking Computer".
Naming stuff according to exactly what it does may make the game a little bit more noob-friendly, but you loose a lot of atmosphere for it, and in a game like EVE that lives a lot from being a "serious internet spaceship game", it's definately not worth it. I'm ok with the skill-renaming, but those new module names just sound ******** and destroy the feeling of EVE being EVE. Please change the names back or make the new ones at least a bit more authentic.
[Sarcasm]Why not rename Mega Pulse Laser and Tachon Laser to "Big Short-Range Laser" and "Big Long-Range Laser"?[/Sarcasm] |

Agreed. With a little bit of thinking anyone can relate an "Energy Transfer Array" to a thing that transfers capacitor. |

L4V4 wrote:[ But guys, please save your complaints for REAL issues--you are only reducing influence of your voice with all the fuss you make over such frivolous issues.
I like EVE. And I like EVE not only because of its unique gameplay mechanics which make me sit at a Titan, doing nothing for hours but somehow still manage to keep me playing The atmosphere and the special "EVE-Feeling", that the game is something more than just another MMO are a huge part of why I like EVE as well, and to me they are nearly as important as the gameplay itself. And if CCP starts to destroy this special feeling of "serious internet spaceships" by dumbing it down, that is a very real issue for me.
And it is hard to give constructive critisism on this topic, because there was no issue that needed to be fixed in the first place. The prior item-names were easy enough to understand and already pretty self-explaining, so why rename them? |

Michael Loney wrote:Just something I noticed while reading this thread, the people who are negative all have very few likes. The positive comments were from people with many likes. Since more likes generally indicates better forum posts ( format, topic words ) then I would take these people's opinions as much more important that he ones without likes (especially the older ones. )
Wow.... That actually made me a little bit angry. Beeing a "1337-Forum-Warrior" does not make your posting better.
Because I prefer playing the game instead of posting on the forums, my opinion is less important or less right than yours? And posting a lot equals better posting? And all those players who never post on the forums are terrible and have no idea of the game?
Comming back to topic, please get your stuff sorted CCP, making us discover half of the patchnotes by ourselves is bad, mkay?
And forcing links out of POSes it a very good first step in the right direction, just like the HAC balancing. |

And to all of the "EVE is dying" whiners, get over yourselves and adapt or just quit already. Anyone who didn't recognize the mess the skill name and tree had become is like the guy in your office whose filling system is piles of papers mixed with sandwich wrappers.
I approve the new skill-groups, but in some cases the new system is even more confusing than the old one, for example Cynosural Field Theory: It's an INT/MEM Skill, originally located in the Electronics group, which all are INT/MEM as well. Now it's and INT/MEM skill, located in the Navigation group, which all are INT/PER, except for Cynosural Field Theory. That doesn't make any sense. |
