Okay mine arrived yesterday. The fiction is OUSTANDING, especially the story The Eighth Plague. The article on recruiting and taking where okay. I was however a bit disappointed on the article about trading. The first article hinted at some serious hard tips for better trading and skill use and then this seemed to never appear. Was a big let down.
I can tell you I will likely buy the next issue and if it is still this good I will take a subscription. This is an outstanding job and the material is excellent. Awesome work folks, this is yet another reason the Eve community is light years ahead of the rest..

have it, have read through it. Mostly 'ish' tbh, the fiction being the best part (apart from the ŻŻ advert ofc ^^)
Deeply disturbed by page 31 though. "We're talking life changing, like the first time you masurbated, or when Yoda died."

I wasnt impressed with the first issue and I am even less impressed with the second. Neither of these mag's have much content to speak of besides the fiction. TBH the fiction was the only good thing about it. (Especially the boobies i liked those)
The cover story was utter crap. That article gave us no usefull information.
The Battleship guide was also crap. You cant effectively tell people how to use a bs in a paragrah. In fact I once saw an outstanding 2500 word essay on how to fit a raven.
The mag needed to give us more insider information that we cant get on the forums/news. I could have learned about trading and tanking in the multiple in depth guides on the forums.
This mag is nothing more thatn a cool little fiction piece. Other than that its utter crap.

I find it hard to beleive that anyone can call these 2 complete masterpieces 'utter crap'. These pioneering magazines are taking EVE-Online to another level.
The beauty of the magazines is that they are collectable, glossy and record a moment of EVE history in glorious print.
Anyway I am sure the E-ON team will appreciate your feedback RILEY CRAVEN

Umm That was constructive critism. And I am always in the minority. I want the best that money can buy period.
I dont want to spend 15 dollars on a mag filled with information that I can easily get to elsewhere, or to have read cover stories that dont give me any worthwhile information aside from what CCP already told me.
I thought I would be paying for insider info, stuff we cant get anywhere else. Theres enough people posting endlessly on the same topics as it is on the forums. Why should I pay to read it over again?
The only plus you guys have is the quality of the fiction that is published. You get an A+ on that easily. That and the quality of the paper you print on, tho I do find it hard to read sometimes because of clashing colors. That seems like a rookie mistake.
Oh and one last thing last time I checked the word crap wasnt a profanity. This seems to be proven by the fact that it wasnt fitlered by the engine that does such words.
Regardless of what you say about me or my opinion, I could care less. I offered you reasons why you need to improve even before this second post. If you are too narrowminded to see that because what I am saying is bad... then sad times for you.

Got mine. Utterly awesome. Herko's story, Counting Stones, is one of the rare occasions when I felt an emotional reaction from reading the written word. The stuff on factional warfare was very informative as well.

I absolutely love the stories. The factional warfare info is pretty impressive too. FanFest ... oh well, maybe this year again.

Been reading through my copy as well. I have to say some *****ing pieces of fiction that are in this months mag.
I take my hat off to you guys.
As for the complaints, well it is horses for courses but I believe that one of the purposes of EON magazine is to give a broad spectrum of coverage of the Eve Universe and its aspects both online and offline.

It was way too overdramatic for my liking. It was nice when it was subtle and morose but the end part with the crying just broke the story for me.

No they haven't. Angels were supposed to change to explosive and kinetic but they didn't.

"It says". Who says? Where does it say? On http://www.eve-online.com/eon/ it says "FREE: set of six exclusive postcards of rare ships if you subscribe." without any time limitation! Where did you get that 6th date from? If that's true, then there's a big problem, as they don't give ANY such info on the above page.

Regarding the postcards. All are the same (we may issue more in the future), and if you are a subscriber you will get them, even if you take out a subscription from now on (ie after 6th Jan).
Oh, that's good news! By the way, Xicon, is there anyway I can still get E-ON #1? I am so so sad I missed it!

Hey! No spoilers!
Seriously now: yep, reading it again now, the last third is indeed a bit too "fast", too hurried up; I guess a few more paragraphs and an gentler flow would have improved it. (But then again you have the word limit corset...)
Point taken, and thanks a lot for the feedback (and keep it comin' if you have more!)

I love the mags. But I must agree with him on a few things. The guides to this and that were very meh. The BS guide were rubbish aswell. Apoc requires good mechanic skills but hardly any engineering?

Very impressed with Eon 2, certainly an improvement over the first issue, in terms of quantity.
Counting Stones was a wonderful story btw, really choked me up at one point too.
Again I'm unimpressed with the Ship comparisons though. I think this is mainly because it's one of those areas where you can't give a definitive say. Removing the ratings was a good step forwards but this stuff isn't telling players anything they can't pick up after a week or two of playing. And trying to tell experienced players things about their BS just wont work.
As an alternative, how about we see more In-game information about each ship. Rather than tell me my Tempest has 6 turret slots, why not speak with the RPers and come up with some history behind the construction and uses of the ship in the Minmatar fleet? How did it evolve to counter the changes in Amarr weaponry etc? This sort of stuff can't really be contradicted by player experience with their ship and I think would go down a bit better than telling me stuff that's more personal preference than anything.
In fact, I'm sick to death of people telling me how my minnie ships suck, when they are actually just too lazy to come up with an inovative setup, or are just seeking the 'I win' ship. Sorry, bit off topic there :D

As CCP would say, it's on the drawing board. The problem isn't with the writing, but the illustrations. I think a in-depth profile of ship should include cutaways and deck plans. ----------------------------------------------- Editor, EON http://www.eve-online.com/eon/Issue#002 available now! |
