I would think though, at the price for a pint in London, and the fact i believe they only sell shandy , would probably rule out an actuall **** up for anyone who lives more than 15 miles north of the M25

Anyone who willingly goes to Brum - well I really dunno what to say
Sadly I have to agree with Joshua - Newcastle is the best place suggested so far for a ****up. Not that it'll happen cos everyone would beat up the rev at the end of the night

London is and always will be the center of the UK population.
Yes it is expensive and it does have pollution, but thats beside the point. If you want to get numbers of people to attend in the UK then London is the best location.
Although if i remember correctly when Nexus-uk created a map of 'players in the uk by location' - Hull was a close second in numbers (however that was pre-release and some one in CT had gotten other people from Hull interested) |

London posse here, as well. To be more precise, in terms of drinking locations, either Camden or Old Street (Canteloupe, Deluxe, etc etc). Strictly north of the river -my days of travelling to various clubs south of the river, then attempting to get home at 04:00 in the morning are over.
Birmingham
Went to visit an university acquaintence for his birthday and went drinking along 'Broad Street' before heading for Circo, and drinking far too many Absoluts - I was almost dry retching outside Euston station, head in my hands the next day when I staggered off the train with God's own hangover.
Bristol
Usually visit a few times a year due to a couple of university buddies living there. Also, the Ashton Court Festival was usually a fantastic weekend. 'Usually', because this year was appalling - absolutely dreadful music, and an odd atmosphere that I've not detected before. Appeared to develop happy hardcore tendencies. So my friend and myself left the main group and went drinking in Clifton on 'White Ladies Road' (the heritage of Bristol's slave trade).
Liverpool
Spent 4 years living here as a student and it was the absolute BOMB for going out drinking or clubbing. Rough around the edges and raw in places but never dull.
Manchester
Visited once for a training course this year but didn't get to see much of the city as I literally left the station and headed into the training building. Heard mixed and varying reports about the city. Looking forward to the EVE meet in Manchester late October.
Newcastle
Went quite a few years ago for an university acquaintance's birthday. Have mixed feelings about the city and certainly didn't compare to Liverpool. That said, a friend of mine who went up to Newcastle for a stag night (incidentally, had never been up to the North of England) had an absolutely fantastic night. He couldn't believe how friendly Northerners were - especially the women.
Unusual to meet a lot of UK players after playing on an US/European based server on EQ.

Urgh. Please NOT a public house by a station. They're all ghastly .. the worst type of establishments. The problem with London is that meeting up in Central London (West End) is convenient, but it is has a dearth of drinking dens but plenty of terrible ones i.e. the 'Office', Anon Anon, not to mention the indescribably horrid 'Balushi's' in Covent Garden. Being stupidly ****ed in itself does not a good bar make.
Keep us posted. However, am still very much on for the Manchester meet.

London.
Rather than complain loud and hard, I'll come up with a few suggestions when I put my thinking cap on <a little tin-foil number. It also stops those control rays from those damn Ruskies, y'know> and canvass opinion in my office.
Have thought of one large pub where I've experienced a meet (as opposed to 'meat' aka Ritzy's in Kingston, many, many years ago) - it's in Holborn and is a Weatherspoon's but actually none too bad considering. Can easily hold a meet and is central. Will provide more details when I thumb through Time Out's drinking guide.
The funniest (but also socially mortifying) aspect of meets is when casual onlookers crane their necks listening to bizarre conversations about 'pirates', 'blockades' and 'pwnage'.
