My mates and myself are wondering: what on earth is causing the excessive Tranquility lag this weekend?
This is being reported by everyone I know
Thanks,

Valentine cards. The server is clogged with them because they're giving the server some serious loving in coming months.

I dunno whats causing it but it better be fixed bloody soon. Speculation is that it could be a hotfix gone bad, seen many of them affect TQ in this way before. But if it was im sure we would have seen a news item about it from someone at CCP. -------------

Actually, for me, my lag comes from CCP's hardware and my hardware because of the client memory leak. CCP's side isnt that bad (at least for me even at hubs ) but NPCing or things to do with having many cans appearing in a heavily NPCed system does consistently give me more leaks and have to restart client so free my RAM so my PC is not trashing heavily.

It was a bit laggy for me this morning but it's since recovered. Not noticed any other unusual lag since Christmas. My machine now appears a bit below par but hopefully sometime tomorrow a nice courier will turn up with something to fix that -- (Battle hardened miner)

Maybe its just bad routing: dont touch the wires!
Seriously, Oveur has made an excellent blog several weeks ago which describes several sources of lag. Ironically, the lag increased even after drones (which where listed as lag-creators) where essentiallly halved.
Seems we have to wait for the new yarrrrdware(tm) now.

IBM cluster should've been installed in December, RMR should have been released in March.

Lag was like this pre-patch. It's just the influx of users. -

i think all the complaints about lag and *****ing and moaning is causing 99.99999999% of the lag in the entire eve universe.....just STFU and wait how many times must we start a topic about this crap

And you are sooo clever or so... Bit_ching is not reason of lag. If you cant deal with bit_ching threads dont read them or even reply in them.
We have 100% rights to complain, as we are paying for this. If more ppl are complain or leave EVE, CPP will faster deal with situation.
If they cant deal with all of mess they should hire more ppl.
I am feeling like being in concert where organisators sold 20K of ticket for space which can hold only 10K of ppl.
And there is not only lag:
- EVE client is crashing and completely freezing PC - memory leak - lag due of to too much ppl being online at same time - macrominers ruining game economy
Yes, I am unhappy like so many of other players and I have right to complain!

First thing - not a flame
Tbh havent really seen a lot of lagg till i mistakenly tried to go throught Jita for a mission, been stuck in Jita gate for about an hour now, am i right in thinking my alternatives are to stay up all night playing, or abandon my ship in space. Who compensates for losses, oh yer nobody. |

I'm actually considering looking for a new MMO, and give EVE a long break due to the incessant lag. I mean, I love the game, but its only playable for me, for a certain time window during the day. Which means I have to schedule my play time around the "Peak Lag" times of each day.

Unless in jita.. I only get the "lag" (which is really isn't lag..) from the memory leak. _______________________________________________

Quote: IBM cluster should've been installed in December, RMR should have been released in March.
This is absolutely correct and it would have given the programmers an opportunity to test RMR on the new platform. You can be guaranteed that there will be problems porting the game architect to the new hardware configuration. IMHO this is the classic struggle between software and hardware advocates.

Edited by: Muthsera on 08/01/2006 20:23:47 This blog comes to mind.
Dev blog
Whit the massive ammount of new players. I think we have the anwser what is really causing the problem.
But you can't ask the players to stop playing. So what is needed is more hardware. But since the problem is exponential, you really have to wonder how ccp is going to pull this off.
They have a serius problem on their hand and their working on it. In case you haven't seen the tens of dev blog about the topic. I'm somewhat disapointed that the new patch haven't yield the rewards we all where hoping for. And right now 150 vs 150 ppl fleet battles are a bit of a lottery on who is going to win or if the server will crash.
And when you look back to the really big battles in SA vs CA, and the factions in gnw you see the demise in this great ability the game had.
It is greatly missed and nothing is quite like the rush of a huge battle.
Edit: posting link correctly ftw

1. You seriously need to purchase "Good manners" skill and train it to level 1 at least 2. I love EVE and I am not considering about leaving it by any chance so you can have my stuff only over my destroyed ship 3. Repeating: as paid customer I have rights to complain as much as I want, and you can tear your lumbs swearing against it. Especialy if I dont get what I am paying for.

Paying for the game does not make you entitled to spam the forums though, and essentially all whines about lag are spam at this point as they bring NOTHING of value. Just because you and other egomaniac morons like you complain does not help CCP in ANY WAY. If anything, you waste server resources by posting worthless junk on the forums.
Don't tell me you're not a spammer. You posted spam, and that's it. You don't need to post something 10 times or more for it to be spam, if it is a useless post that the community could do without, it is spam. I'd say that pretty much defines your post.

BTW Could we have 2 option added to the map in eve: 1 - show lag intensity in solar systems 2 - autopilot: try to avoid laggy systems
That could solve a lot of problems and make many of us happy ;-)
