These are the Adventures of Zappity.
They are not important. They are not particularly skilled. But they are honest and they might be good fun to read. They might also tempt some more people to come to lowsec.
A very brief history: I played for a couple of years, first ninja salvaging and looting in highsec, then wormhole camping with a PvE main plus Orca and scout alts. Then a null carebear (yes, the worst kind). Inevitably, I became bored and took a break. When I came back I decided to start afresh with a PvP character. She was to be Zappity by name, Zappity by nature. Born February 2013. RvB for a couple of months, then solo lowsec and first solo kill at just over 1m SP. Good stuff.
Why am I bothering? Why not. Might be good for a chuckle.
Why C&P? Killmails, of course! Hooray, I'm l33t! -á(Kil2: "The higher their ship losses...the better they're going to be.") |

This one was fun but probably not good reading. Sorry about that.

Jump, d-scan, Kestrel in a plex and not much else going on in the system. I warp to the plex, activate the gate and land...just in time to see him warp to another site. Well, at least he wasnGÇÖt cloaked so letGÇÖs see if I can play some games with him. I give chase but he is just bouncing straight back to the first plex. So, of course, I follow and manage to scram him before he warps out.
He loses my scram on a slingshot (or should that be a reverse slingshot?) and warps away. Good move. And local informs me that he doesnGÇÖt really want a round 2. Oh well, it was my own fault for not watching his ship closely enough. I try a couple of neighbouring systems but nothing doing so I start to head home.
Jump, d-scan, Kestrel in a plex and not much else going on in the system. I warp to the plex, activate the gate and landGǪjust in time to scram him! This time I watch closely and am ready for the slingshot. I overheat my afterburner and manage to keep him at optimal until he melts.
GF? The silence in local says otherwise but catching him after all that was very satisfying! Hooray, I'm l33t! -á(Kil2: "The higher their ship losses...the better they're going to be.") |

Crucifier. They can be a nuisance for a turret ship. But what the hell, IGÇÖm bored! I warp into the plex, scram her, turn the rails on andGǪ Oh, where did she go? Wrecked already! My word, that was fast.
Lowsec kill: http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=20517549
An odd fit I think. Perhaps she was fitted for fleet support? I donGÇÖt know enough about Crucifiers but the last one I fought was TOUGH to kill.
She gave a gf in local. Good form, Sancbella. Catch you around. YouGÇÖll probably murder me next time. Hooray, I'm l33t! -á(Kil2: "The higher their ship losses...the better they're going to be.") |

You should try to get kills in ships that aren`t meant for combat or in combat ships against multiple enemies, this way you create funnier km`s and some interesting feedback in local. Formerly known Iteron I is now buffed rather nicely in terms of combat capabilities. |

I warped into the plex and saw the Rifter sitting at 60 off the beacon. I bet he is spying on my shapely rails. And thatGÇÖs fine because I recognise Crake from this thread and I like the things he said. So of course I really want to fight him.
He warps away. I bet he is going to change his fit to deal with my rails. So I warp to the station to quickly slip into some blasters. On the way, I start to think. Maybe he KNOWS that I am going to refit and will be waiting for me with a kiting fit. So maybe I shouldnGÇÖt change after all. But maybe he knows IGÇÖm thinking about being clever and will be ready for my rails.
Now IGÇÖm confused. So I refit into blasters anyway. Stupid brain.
I warp back to the site and there he is! But by the time I land thereGÇÖs a blob on the short scan (ugh, how boring) so we both warp to safes. And back to the plex now that they have gone.
Web, approach, melt, melt, better scram now. But I am melting tooGǪ ThatGÇÖs just not right against a Rifter these days. Repair! Faster, dammit! Why the hell arenGÇÖt I hitting him harder? Oh, maybe I'm too close and not tracking? Probably due to my poor skills.
ItGÇÖs nice to have worked that out but it is too late to do anything about it now since IGÇÖm already well into structure. So I align to a random celestial in preparation to save my pod. AndGǪ pop. But not me! Ironically, aligning away allowed my guns to track better as he chased. And so he popped.
Good fight and a nice chat afterwards. Props to Crake Gaterau. And CCP, please give the Rifter a small buff. Hooray, I'm l33t! -á(Kil2: "The higher their ship losses...the better they're going to be.") |

An Incursus! LetGÇÖs fight! What else?
Lowsec kill: http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=20535476
This character has a strong killboard history. Just too bad she was trying out a double rep Incursus when I had my gank Ion fit on (I canGÇÖt do a proper Neutron gank fit yet). Gank over tank every time!
This was a very straightforward fight: land on the beacon, scram and web, blasty time. Uh huh, double reps I think. Just a matter of time. I really like watching the damage being applied to an active tank fit. The reaps peak just a bit lower every time until the hull starts going down. And then, all of a sudden, pop!
Edit: this fight was before the local repair buff in Odyssey 1.1. Double rep fits are considerably stronger now (OP?)
But gf anyway and a nice chat afterwards. When I saw her in station I traded her loot back. Convo (accepted of course) and I learn that she has principles! My loot, fairly earned.
I give loot back quite often. I really donGÇÖt need the isk and I appreciate a good fight. I figure it is good to encourage people to keep coming back. This time we shared fits instead (much more valuable) and I flew away with a nice Tristan fit ready for when I get my drone skills up.
Props to Thorin Matarielle. GF. Hooray, I'm l33t! -á(Kil2: "The higher their ship losses...the better they're going to be.") |

A Condor somewhere in system. I hate Condors.
Lowsec kill: http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=20535477
LetGÇÖs warp to the novice plex and see if he wants to play. I doubt it - Condors donGÇÖt tend to join an Incursus in a plex too often. But this time the Condor suffers from very unfortunate timing and lands on the plex at exactly the same time I do. Ha! Tackled and webbed, the fragile kiting Condor just fell apart. Good stuff.

We landed on a gate together. He jumped and I followed. We appeared on opposite sides of the gate, about 40km from each other. Our approaches were casual, just testing the water to see if we were both serious. Then I did ALL the things wrong:
1. CNAM loaded instead of Null. Versus a Slasher. Uh huh... 2. I didnGÇÖt overload my prop mod nearly soon enough. By the time I got on top of him and started to hit him I was already neuted. 3. Did I mention neuting? I rarely get neuted out and was actually surprised by my modules turning off. I thought it was a bug! Derp.
What a noob.
Props to Fintarue from Rifterlings. GF. This was my first loss to a Slasher in a while and thoroughly deserved. Hooray, I'm l33t! -á(Kil2: "The higher their ship losses...the better they're going to be.") |

This Merlin was triple stabbed in true farmer fashion. But he was obviously still a learner farmer because he wasnGÇÖt AFK for the whole GÇÿfightGÇÖ. Not that he fired his guns at me or anything silly like that.
So why didnGÇÖt he warp? Maybe he panicked and pressed the wrong button. Good. Bloody farmers. Admittedly he didnGÇÖt have much time to figure it out with the just rage of my neutron blasters taking liberties with his shields.
GÇ£Why didnGÇÖt you warp?GÇ¥ I asked in local. No response of course. Maybe IGÇÖll have something more entertaining next time but at least I did my part to clean up a system today. Hooray, I'm l33t! -á(Kil2: "The higher their ship losses...the better they're going to be.") |

Now this is the true lowsec spirit!
Lowsec kill: http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=20546271
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmju7vBMKak
I noticed a Slasher on d-scan but no plexes in system. Probably in a safe and waiting for something to spawn. I wandered around but pretty quiet so I dropped into the system again after a few minutes. A Slasher in the novice plex!
I warp in and overheat the afterburner to traverse the 30km as fast as possible. She has noticed me - picked up speed and approaching but then... What? Warped away? There is a Catalyst on short scan so I wonder if she was spooked.
There may have been a taunt about GÇÿplenty of room in here and only a couple of minutes left for the lpGÇÖ but I can neither confirm nor deny. But the Slasher returns while commenting about GÇÿnot wanting to be blobbedGÇÖ in local. She must have been confused about destroyers and Novice plexes. Regardless, here she comes, landing on grid and burning away. I land the scram and web at 8km and reel her in. DoesnGÇÖt take long after that.
Props to Clara Impossible. GF, good chat. Maybe you'll win next time - keep exploring new fits. Hooray, I'm l33t! -á(Kil2: "The higher their ship losses...the better they're going to be.") |

I am going to use this post whenever I come across a whinging farmer who claims that "I only have 2m SP and can't fight yet".
Pathetic.
This chart shows my cumulative kills and losses over time. these are only the kills where I landed the final blow (i.e. the ones from the client which I can easily copy/paste). Most of these are solo. Note that there are few periods where I lose constantly without a win to brighten things up.
My first solo lowsec kill was three weeks after character creation:
http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=18941110
It was my first day in lowsec. And I podded him for good measure:
http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=18941109
Ha ha! So, lessons:
1. I don't want to hear any nonsense about how your character is too young to PvP.
2. You are a farming. Admit it, be ashamed and desist forthwith.
3. If you do actually want to PvP it isn't rocket science (unless you fly Caldari). A good step is to ask the person who killed you what you did wrong, especially in a solo context.
4. The bit where you lose a lot of ships is not optional. Even if you buy a strong PvP character you will still go through this phase. Losing cheap ships is the best way to learn fast. Hooray, I'm l33t! -á(Kil2: "The higher their ship losses...the better they're going to be.") |

This is not strictly one of Zappity's adventures but this post might be useful for highsec dwellers who are looking at null. For the last few weeks I have had a couple of alts in Curse, an NPC nullsec region with no player sovereignty. I occasionally log into them when lowsec is dead or I just donGÇÖt feel like PvP. One is a stealth bomber pilot and the other is scout and support. I had accumulated a few hundred miskies worth of battleship loot and salvage and was thinking about getting it back to highsec to sell.
Traversing a dozen jumps through nullsec and then a lowsec entry system in my Badger of Doom (or whatever daft name itGÇÖs called now) is not fun. I recently sold my Viator character so I donGÇÖt currently have access to that fantastic blockade runner. And a jump freighter just isnGÇÖt going to happen - IGÇÖm not interested enough in nullsec for proper logistics. Black frog is far too expensive for this sort of routine transfer, especially since the volume is low enough to move in an industrial in just one or two trips. Hulls are, admittedly, a different matter.
So what to do?
Anyway, my scout finds wormholes in practically every system. These are usually to J-space but there is usually at least one direct link to lowsec in a nearby system. These are very good if the lowsec system is not too deep since low is trivially easy to travel through with an industrial and scout. So I entered the wormhole and found myself in Rammi, just a couple of jumps from a highsec border system.
Ahead went the scout but she really wasnGÇÖt needed. Two jumps later I was in Shuria where I dumped the boatload at the nearest station. Both characters then took an immediate but uneventful trip straight back to null through the wormhole.
And the loot? A public courier contract to Amarr, which was six jumps away, took care of that. This is underutilised in my opinion. Everyone rabbits on about haulers and freighters when, really, all you need to do is have your rubbish in any contiguous highsec system and follow these steps:
1. Identify the nearest market hub. You should have insta-dock and undocks bookmarked for these anyway so it is easy to figure out which is the closest.
2. Put up a contract with at least the value of your stuff. You should always price the collateral such that you WANT the contract to fail.
3. How much to pay? Between 0.25% and 1% of the collateral usually gets the job accepted pretty quickly.
This time a 1m isk payment for 400m collateral saw the whole lot in Amarr the following day, and Jita the day after for another 1m. I donGÇÖt know about you but my time is worth more than 2m per hour.
Edit: Today I found a direct link to a nice highsec location. Typical. Oh well, at least I can stock up on torps... Hooray, I'm l33t! -á(Kil2: "The higher their ship losses...the better they're going to be.") |
