Edited by: Jarjar on 21/08/2003 20:30:31 Did Large hybrids (ion/neutron/425s) get a tracking boost? I really hope so! Close range weapons cannot have a tracking close to a long range medium gun.
I don't have gunnery 5 at chaos, so unfortunately I cannot help testing. If the backup was recent I'd join right away! Good luck with the update

It seems tachyons got a range "nerf". More optimal, half falloff. Dang... Oh well. By the way - why did the 250mm gauss get even more range? People call it overpowered already.
/me compares the stats a bit more
By the way - what's up with Ion blaster ROF? 6.187? Odd number. It's not mounted by the way - I'm checking info from the corp hangar (FFC).

"tomb, please. please, please, please, please, please, tell me that you didn't give the large/medium turrets any more tracking speed than they already have."
Thank god they did. Large blasters didn't hit sh*t at any range with the target webbed AND with a tracking computer (motion pred. 4). Also, 425mms was useless. Lets hope some things will change.

I think you confused me with someone else, I'm not talking about projectile weapons at all.

By the way TomB, please please PLEASE read this thread and promise you'll do something about it. 675/0.25 = 2700 rounds of large ammo in my cargo hold.

Jim - the blasters got a 75% increase in tracking, at least Ion ones. I haven't tried them out, though, since I've got Gunnery 4 at chaos atm. If there's a new backup today, I'll be happy to test them.

Edited by: Jarjar on 22/08/2003 17:24:28 Edited by: Jarjar on 22/08/2003 17:22:04 Okay - I just tried 4x425mm 'scout' autocannons (nice Raven setup, eh?). Oh my god! My tachyon+250mm gauss is VERY far from this. They die at least double as fast. Now, since they're rare medium weapons, I hope ion/neutron blasters will go more damage (over time) than autocannons. Right?
Edit: LOL. I just lost a Raven battleship in less than 40 seconds. Nice damage with your large projs , Golgrath. I saw quite a few non-perfect/wrecking hits at 650-700 damage. Needs balancing I guess.

0.025 tracking? Are you kidding? I think the old 250mm gauss tracking was enough - now it's 0.012 IIRC. I am aware that the 650mm is a closer range weapon, but more tracking than about 0.0175 would be overpowered.

/emote hopes that Ion Blaster Cannons will outperform 425mm 'scout' autocannons in damage over time

Edited by: Jarjar on 23/08/2003 18:47:30 We just need a new corp/office spammed with modules, skills etc. Plus a GM/BH/other who can move us there; I'm currently 35 jumps away from PF-346.
By the way - I hope the blasters got buffed and not nerfed?

Actually tracking got activated a month or so ago, remember? Before that battleship weapons could hit at point blank range AFAIK. At least as good as frigate guns.

Balance is about getting perfect balance. In a perfect (EVE) world there are no ³ber weapons, they're good at their specific tasks.

Try comparing market items instead of loot we won't see this year. Repeat.

- I will prolly be nerfing fall off range a bit on blasters.
Hmm. How much? It's not very easy to get in their effective range as it is right now, if they're nerfed to become even worse I don't know what weapons are still useful. Trying to get within 5km in PvP is no fun at all. Since my optimal with ions are 1.38 (1380 meters!), there is no possibility for them to be useful without a decent (15+ km) falloff.
Edit: TomB, please take a look at http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=26225 about large ammo (no pun intended, I suppose) again(?). At least give us an official answer if they will be lowered in size or not. Please?

Quote: Whaa? You mean that you can't use AM ammo and get a somewhat decent optimal isn't that what you mean? I don't think the gun really has that opti for base.
Why don't you do what all proj users do, realize that if you want high dmg ammo you have ot make sacrifices. ie, you can't use EMP ammo at all times.. actually you can almost never use it really, but that's another matter.
Well, if I had double range ammo it MAY be useful with optimal range. How about 4.5km?

Unfortunately, some (most proj users) don't realize this and goes for raw damage instead of defense.

I USED hybrids because: My MOA had a range bonus (20% with my skills) for them, the ship was basically meant for them. Also, it has 4 medslots (nothing to do with the hybrids, of course). I USE hybrids because my Megathron also has a hybrid bonus - damage + tracking. If I was in a minmatar ship I'd probably try to use projectiles instead, as they're meant for minmatar ships. Just like Amarr ships are meant for lasers, Gallente hybrid blasters and Caldari hybrid railguns.
