This is in reply to shield hardeners vs. turrets
Increase the cap usage and the CPU requirement of the shield hardeners. The way it is right now, Projectile users can be fully defensive(Shield hardeners) and fully offensive at the same time, while also able to deliver all 4 types of damage with their ammo.
Laser users have their hands tied. Not only do our weapons draw from the same resource as our modules(cap) but any battleship can just sit and take em+thermal damage and still be able to fight back at 100% capacity. The hardeners should be balanced so that you can be heavily offensive with no hardeners or heavily defensive with minimal offense. Not 100% both at the same time.

Quote: Why is PvP automtically based on 1v1?
Because 1v1 is the lowest common denominator in any combat situation. Also, solo'ing was listed on the box as a viable career path... Its not really, but still. :)

Quote: Part of the problem here is that there is one type of shield hardener for all types of craft, if you up the cap costs etc to create a penalty for battleship users then frigates wont be able to use them at all, and cruisers will have a very severe penalty. Personally I think the only way to balance out shield hardeners is to have different version of the shield hardeners which can only be used by particular types of ship, but given the way CCP have set it up that would probably be pretty difficult.
Great Idea I think you are going with here. Make the hardeners of the same resistance NOT stack and also have different sizes, just like the shield boosters.
Small em ward - 30% Medium em ward - 50% Large em ward - 70%

Interesting how the Mega pulse laser has a ridiculously slow tracking speed while still being a short range weapon. Its hybrid and proj counterparts have the appropriate tracking speed however. Hopefully that excel sheet is wrong.

If you make laser turret more cap intensive, I'll need to just train other gun skills, maybe go Caldari like everyone else and fly the Scorp or Raven. It's already impossible to destroy a scorp(which has 5k shields) with em+thermal hardeners with lasers by yourself with the CURRENT cap costs of laser turrets, even if you CAN lock the damn thing, and fire the entire time at optimal range.
I'm telling you, the shield hardeners throw off the battleship balance big time, especially with weapons limited to only 2 damage types.

Quote: It sounds that your basing your opinions on the statement made in this thread, not the stats on chaos.
Naturally. It is after all a reply in the thread, and not new information brought forth by myself after testing. Excuse me for not beta testing a release version of a game, it would make me feel like all my bug reports in the actual beta were wasted time..
Quote: since hardeners never, ever should be a must have.
I agree, however the blinding reality is the fact that they are. Especially when you use something other than lasers and have nothing better to spend your cap on.
Quote: And projs have the weakest ammo overall, (with some bonus to a minor ability to vary the dmg types..)
Which is the way it should be, if I could confirm this, because I cant right now because eve is lagging so bad I cant even log-in.
Projectile users can load up their low slots full of damage mods because they dont have to waste space with cap rechargers. Lasers users have to balance cap rechargers with damage/armor mods, which should make lasers a tad stronger by default for balance. If you loaded up all lows wtih damage mods and the standard, required cpu mod on a laser equiped apoc, it should out damage anything in the game, but the penalty is duration of damage, how long you can deal it before you have to run away to let your cap recharge.

Can someone post the power grid that the mega beam and the tachyon I's lasers take. I am unable to patch the 87-88 patch and thus unable to play on Chaos any longer.
