Edited by: TomB on 03/09/2003 11:51:36 Hello everyone
There are currently new tuned turrets on the Test Server (Chaos), almost all turrets have had a tune of some sort, mostly medium and large turrets have been altered in tracking speed, firing speed, optimal range and fall off. Here is a list of other biggest changes:
- Low end turrets have gotten a boost in damage dealing. - Projectile artilleries are now mostly a little faster and deal more damage. - Dual 650mm and 800mm Artillery cannons got changed into repeating artillery cannons.
I will be reading comments here, play as much on Chaos as you like/can if you want to be a part of this balancing. Patch for the test server can be found in the "Patches >>>" link on the right frame on this webside.
I recommend that you install the test patches into a seperate folder from the client you use to play on the Live Server so that you don't receive problems with the patch that is running on the Test Server, or so that you have to install the game again in order to be able to play on the Live Server again.

Edit to gather info from thread:
- There is new attribute for ships that is used to calculate size of object for accuracy, this was done because collision radius of ships is a sphere and long and thin ships were much easier to hit than short and fat ones. - Lasers have been upgraded a bit over all in damage output, decreased ROF - Lasers increased optimal range, decreased fall off - Large Lasers got changed, Tachyon Beam laser is now a unieq laser where the mega beam takes the role which medium beam and heavy beam have before, and go downwards from there. - Large lasers also got more powergrid usage now and more capacitor usage - Neutron blaster has been increased in damage - Gyrostabilizer rare drops are now giving tracking speed bonus instead of ROF bonus just like rare drops of heat sinks and magnetic field stabilizers

We will also try to get a mirror from the Live Server to the Test Server tomorrow.
Please no flaming if we forget

Jarjar, that projectile you have there has 5.1 base damage multiplier + you are shooting at a station which does not have any resistance vs. any type of damage. The problem with the 425mm railgun and the 1200mm and 1400mm artilleries is that they were not hitting at their optimal range unless using tracking enhancement and with high motion prediction skill, unless using very low level ammunition to fight at 40K + range. And that can be a big pain when using projectiles because EMP and Phased Plasma are almost needed to damage the shields of an opponent.
But projectiles will not be as powerful as hybrids and laser weapons. They will however be very usefull for Minmatar ships and should be the wisest choice.

There are currently some problems with hybrids and projectile weapons. We have just moved skills over to python and these two weapon types are not getting damage addons.
Will fix this as soon as possible, so stay calm as we will continue these testings for atleast a week.

Chaos has been updated, projectile artilleries got a little speed nerf (were getting too powerful with Minmatar ships). Ya remember that this is a test server and we will be changing these stats alot over the next days.

NEW MIRROR ON TEST SERVER
Test Server has brand new mirror from the Live one, so now you have no excuse not to test the turrets.
TURRET UPDATE
- Lasers increased ROF a bit. - Hybrid Blasers little update on ROF and neutron blaster upped to 3.5 base damage. - Projectile AutoCannons nerfed a bit in ROF, lower two projectile AutoCannons increased a bit in damage. - Lower Artillery cannon nerfed a bit in damage and in ROF, Howitzer increased a bit in ROF.
Go check it out!

Me and the BH team will get us items and set everything up again, we totally forgot about the FCC setup on the mirroring.

Bonuses for Energy and Hybrid rare drop turrets differed a bit from the Projectile rare drop turrets. This was not intended and I have changed the ROF (Rate of Fire) bonus to Tracking Speef bonus, so the bonuses will now be the same for all turrets.

Update:
- 220mm Vulcan increased damageMultiplier to 1,25 (typing error) - Lasers now all have increased damageMultiplier but decreased rate of fire

Tracking speed of large lasers has been fixed, I will probably be tuning turrets for another whole week before this goes live.
Majors I will doing: - I will prolly be nerfing fall off range a bit on blasters. - Capacitor usage, grid & cpu usage tuning still to come.

We are sorting out some issues in the physics engine where accuracy is calculated. I will post changes we will do there, as soon as we do them, and continue tuning from there on.

It's changes to accuracy calculation with the radius, just something for me.

The reason for this is because of radius of objects is not good enough for calculation; radius is a sphere and for objects that are thin and long are easier to hit with turrets than objects that are sphere-like but short.
Example would be: Apocalypse is easy to hit because of long length Dominix is hard to hit because of short length
We will be using a new attribute instead of radius for calculation called "Signature Radius", all objects will get same value as radius but will be tuned for ships. This new feature will maybe bring some extra flavor to combat. This will differ between ships, classes and races and the information will be published in the the information field for ships, so players will now be able to see better which ships are harder to hit. Although speed and agility of ships will matter just as much in accuracy.
The radius will still be working for ship collision and missile impact.

Agility just tells the ship how fast it can take turns, if you for example turn 90¦ you can loose up to 50% of your speed, there for being an easier target for turrets to track.

Changes are in, they can be a bit heavy to start with, so accuracy might need extra good attention.
I will look at Cap usage next.

Tracking has been raised a bit cross the board on medium and large turrets.
Reason was because of signatureRadius, should be similar now to how it was.

Large Lasers have been increased in powergrid need ... with the shield hardener *nerf* they will once again be more powerful but will not be easy fitted.

Quote: Right now, I'm just looking forward to seeing how TomB fixes the torp agility issue, which he has acknowledged.
No frigate can use a torpedo, the standard missile launchers they can equip can't be fitted with torpedos.
