So I get murdered by a pack of Inties. I am in a BS, there are a bunch of them. Now I know that uneven combat is particular, but it seems that other then me tanking the inti forever, waiting for a warp jam mistake from the opponent, once the inti is circling you at close range, there is little a Caldari BS can do to knock him down.
So, what are some good tacktics against Inties. How does a slow, long range BS take out a fast, short range inti when the BS can't open distance?

Drones, webifier, precision ammo, painter, heavy nos/neutralizers, small caliber guns/missile launchers, friends.

I don't know BS - but what about NOS, Webbing, Assault launchers, small weapons??
How many were they and how quick did you pod?

Nos, web, precision missiles/2 small guns.
Voila.
Against a large group of inties, this wont help tho. All that would help against that is alot of stabs and alot of smartbombs to kill the close range -4/-6 inties and get out. _______________________________________________

Raven with t2 cruise / precision
cap boosters/t2 medium drones 2/ target painter/ heavy nosf will rape
will still die to a organized intie fleet, depends of the size of the gang tho

If using a scorp, fit with multispec jammers. One jammer, with decent skills, should be able to jam cycle an inty for most of the combat duration. None of their weapons(including warp scramblers)will work while jammed. However, if they are using drones, those will still attack you if they were given the attack command prior to being jammed.
Nos and neutralizers will effectively cripple most intys...and hacs. Carry at least two or more. Fit large and medium variants and use them first on cap hungry ships such as the taranis and crusader.
Lastly, carry med and light drones....hvy drones may have problems catching them unless you have them webbed.
Use cruise missles on the remaining high slots you have left. If you train up to T2 cruise launchers, you can use the new precision cruise missles and those will do alot more damage to smaller targets than regular cruise missles.
My tactic would be: 1. Find the most damaging inty that uses the least amount of caps to fire.(i.e. crow/wolf) Use your EW jammer on these first. 2. Then use your nos/neut on cap hungry intys (crusaders/taranis). 3. Deploy your small/med drones against those from #2. Once without caps, they cant use their armor rep/shield booster. 4. Fire your cruise missles at #2 also and if you equip your ship with a warp scrambler, you should be able to take him down fairly quickly...unless they manage to run out of range before they pop. 5. Rinse and repeat until they are dead or you are dead.

Edited by: Miabio on 09/01/2006 19:53:45 I lasted about 2 mins, it was cap that killed me, had I had more cap booster charges, I would have been able to tank them forever. It was 5v1.
The problem with Jamming is optimal range. . . its simply not effective at close range. And, when your jammed, they are not. ECM Burst needs a little buff here.

- first, the heavy nosfT twins, no reason not to put some ona scorp! they'll make iot sure those nasty flies won't shoot at you too fast nor they will move too fast. => you get rid of 2 of them rather fast
- second : some med drones. I advice you to take some valkiries, T2 ones particularly : they pop out frig-sized ships in no times.
As you talked of long range BS i assume you have some sensor booster, so no problem in locking them.
That is the best (if not the only) way to defend against inties.
Still, 5v1 is a hard time whatever you do... Last int : shoot the Tara first

I dont know how this myth came into existance, but its bollox. Optimal range = Max range of 100% effectiveness, given enough tracking. Since EW doesnt have tracking, with a jammer with 70km optimal, the chance to jamm at 500 meter is exactly the same as at 70km and anything inbetween.

As far as friends go, have at least one that knows how to use cruiser or BS turrets and understands the idea that he can warp in 50km from you. As soon as he warps in it is a good time to stop pretending to the inty that you don't have a neut and a webber.

1` Heavy nos won't help if your packing BS launchers on a raven though. Ravens are the most vunerable to inty packs, turret battleships, properly equipped, will slaughter 10 inties provided they don't EWAR you up.
If your a Raven pilot, you'll have to bite the bullet and use an armour tank, with cruise launchers, 2 webs, 4 target painters, 2 Heavy Nosses. Its about the most efficent anti-anything smaller setup you'll be able to get with a Raven.

Post patch, with a moderate tank, I have seen encounters which have proven the contrary.
