Hi all!
I'm currently a Minmitar pilot, but Gallente appeals to me more and more ship-style wise. However, I don't really know much about Gallente. So I tried to look up ship comparisons, ship guides and patch notes, but pure stats don't really tell me so much..
Therefor I wondered if there was a decent ship breakdown with the last changes, comparing ships / races to eachother? Also taking account weapon systems?
I'm a gunnery pilot so I'm mostly interested in gunnery ships. |

Try EFT. Pure stats tell everything. As for a comprehensive up-to-date guide, I am not aware of one.

Blasters bring in the pain but they have really really low range compared to autos. I like both factions so i just trained both |

That's asking for a god damn broad and subjective answer tbh, OP.
To try and sum things up as objectively as possible, seeing as you're a turret focused person, I'd say your best bets are the incursus (okay damage, sicknasty tanking capabilities) and thorax (sicknasty damage, pretty fast) for cheap things/low sp, and talos (bigger thorax) and enyo (better incursus) for midrange costs/mid SP.
Your first order of priority if crosstraining to gallente from minmatar would to spec up in drones, especially sentries and tech2 light gallente/minmatar drones to then look at the vexor, ishtar, myrmidon, ishkur, etc, and make sure you can both armor and shield tank equally well (shouldn't be a problem coming from minmatar)
At the battleship level, the hyperion is equivalent to the maelstrom and the megathron is a turret typhoon. The dominix and tempest don't really compare, the tempest being a megathron with utility high and no tracking bonus.
But all in all like I said, rating and actually comparing the ships to one another would be very subjective, looking at bonuses and attributes really is the better way to assess each of them and form your own opinion about them. STANDING ON THE VERGE OF PROLAPSE |

Can't go wrong training frigate/cruiser/t2 and hybrids from your starting point. Gets you access to three race gunships: gallente, serpentis and angel.
Frigs: Gallente have best brawlers and a wide range of good tacklers. Daredevil and dramiel are a shiny bonus. Cruisers: Gallente have best brawlers and after the railgun buff they have some really scary kiter/brawler hybrids. Vigilant and Cynabal are your treat. Same scenario applies to battlecruisers.
Gallente have the best HAC selection IMHO. Two very different and powerful ones, fit for doing a plentitude of things. |

For a pure Minmatar pilot it's the easiest road to take than train gallente, piloting wise.
First because autocanons were better than blasters at blasters job for over 5 years
Secondly because "Brawl" a_la_sleipnir is nothing but a poor clone fight of what you get flying blaster ships
Since some changes to gallente hulls they got a bit faster and agile so if you've already flown and like SLeipnirs welp, that's how wallente ships work but with a little more micromanagement: drones, very often the mandatory cap booster+AAR+AR eventually but it's quite easy to get in for an experienced Matar pilot, train your hybrid skills and specs to at least 4 for now and have nice fun. You'll understand then why Matar are so good, were completely OP and how potentially deadly wallente boats can be, but be careful with the "potential" part heh. *removed inappropriate ASCII art signature* - CCP Eterne |

Navy Vexor, Ishtar, Myrmidon and Dominix don't have gun bonuses, so you can use your projectile skills on those ships. |

Gallente-minmatar is a really awesome combo. Go for it, cruiser V of both races opens up a lot of good options. If you want to shoot stuff you get the best ships for the job. If you want to fly solo you get the most agile solo ships and best active tanks. If you want to fly logistics you get tracking link armor/shield ships.
You should train good navigation core skills for these races. |
