Some players have noticed that during the past two weeks, Devs and volunteers have been posting news items and on the forums instead of myself. This is because Christmas evening I was struck by a minivan while driving home from my parents' on my motorcycle. I was the only person involved in the accident to suffer injuries which included; two broken fingers and a broken bone in my left hand.
These injuries were surgically repaired Thursday following the accident and included the addition of 21 screws, two plates and two temporary pins. As a result, I cannot type of my left hand and I am using voice recognition software to dictate for me. Since I have not been able to work I have two weeks worth of e-mail, recent events, and other work to catch up on, so responses on my part may be slow. Devs and volunteers will continue to assist me with my duties.
I ask for your patience and understanding during my rehabilitation, and hope to be back to normal in the very near future.

On a lighter note with all that metal in your hand you gonna be able to do like neat tricks of punching through walls and shooting sparks from your fingertips now, cause that would so totally elevate your status from "Coolest Communty Manager" to "His Divine Holiness Kieron The Forum Smack Pimp Slapper" or something else equally as cool

Sorry to hear about the accident, but on the upside, now you can take guns through metal detectors and just blame the beeping on your hand.
Hope you're recovering quickly, if not, you could always hire an assistant to type for you. (no that wasn't a hint, nor a 'please hire me please' suggestion)

"so I was walking home last night and these 4 muggers come at me I fought the first two off and as they where laying on the ground crying in pain the third one throws a right hook that I meet with my own fist, the force of the hit broke his entire arm but did manage to break some bones in my hand.
Finaly the last mugger came at me with a gun, I swung at the steal frame using my other fist punching it out of his hands. Well, after that the clean up was easy, I just tied them up and called the cops."
See, thats so much cooler.
But really, my friends who ride bikes will talk about the dangers of drivers not looking before they change lanes ect. Do everyone a favor and check twice.

Kieron, as terrible as that is, we're thankful you survived with just those injuries. I've had two friends pass in motorcycle accidents in the past year and both times, like yours, it was not their fault.
On a side note, maybe you should install some Tech 2 training wheels.

It was a 1993 ZX-7 that I spent 18 months refurbishing. The only thing I had left to do was a paint job on the fairings. Although I haven't heard back from the insurance company yet, I'm going to assume that the bike is going to be totaled out. All the fairings, including a single seat race tail are smashed and/or scratched, the rear subframe is bent, the left foot peg was torn off, and finally, both the fuel tank and swing arm were dented by the impact. At this point in time, I don't know if the engine runs are not or if there is any transmission damage.
All things considered, I'm glad that both injuries and property damage were kept to a minimum. As of this time, it appears that there is no permanent damage to anyone involved, including myself. The bike can be replaced and the damage to the van can be repaired. It could've been a much worse Christmas for all involved.

Besides, I have total of 22 broken bones due to three crashes so far, feel your pain.
I've got a Kawasaki Z1000 03(nice red and gold pipes) for sale. Willing to trade for a Megathron .

Very glad to hear that. Altough I can inmagine your sad about it since you worked so long on it, but your (and anybody elses) life is worth way more then any bike or van.

Maybe you had a guardian angel over your shoulder that night, thankfully the injuries weren't worse and we'll look forward to having you back full time. Ouch, Hope you get well soon kieron, motorbikes are all well and fun until you have an accident, I came off mine in decemeber as well, but I was lucky and just hit tarmac going 15-20mph (Curse other drivers pulling out of a carpark forcing me to stop on wet leaf covered tarmac).
Also, did it do the whole "time slows down" for you as well? as myself and a couple of friends have had it during accidents.

No, I was half way to the floor when it happened and had enough time to think "****, hope it wont cost too much to fix the bike".
I then proceded to hit the floor and have the bike drop onto my left knee (cue lots of bruising, thankfully nothing serious but limping and struggling going up and down stairs)

I have heard so many horror stories from people on bikes...By the sound of it, it's like car drivers actually aim for them. I don't know where you're from, but in the UK we have a warning in between adverts that tells car drivers to open their ******* eyes and not run down motorcyclists. (not exact words).

Those bones will take some time to heal, and let them their time to do so. I once broke 3 bones in my hand too, and I needed several months to use the hand properly again, and one year without impairment. My hand was fixed bad so the bones grew together a bit wrong. So I have a good guess what you're going through atm.
