When I'm offered a mission, I can always refuse it by choosing 'abort'. However, sometimes I can also tell my agent that I don't want it (telling him 'I don't have time for this nickle and dime business').
However, if I want to select this option, I am warned that my agent would like that decision. What happens if you turn down a mission like this?
I expect better missions but a lower agent standing...

Edited by: Luther Pendragon on 22/08/2003 15:43:29 I doubt better missions, but certainl lower standing. Then again, maybe its not really working, I never dared to press it. Though it would make sense if it worked the way you said. Otherwise, I *hate* getting penalized for a mission which I had to look in order to figure out what it is. You do not need to push the button that says that you refuse the mission. The safest way is to just hit the X and close the window. Then np.

If pressing that abort button always results in lowered agent standing or selecting the "I don't have time for the nickel and dime stuff" does the same, what is the point of even having these options? Who in their right mind would ever use them?
Peeking in the journal does feel like a bit of a cheat I agree, as does closing the window to refuse a mission without consequence. Ideally, once you approach an agent for a mission and then decide not to take the mission offered there should be at least a chance of a negative hit to your agent.

Thing is, I feel like Im just 'inquiring' about what opportunities there are. Just by doing that, Im suddenly in some kind of binding contract which if I dont accept, have to pay a penalty. Breaking a contract, I can understand, but just looking at it? Its like going to a shop to see what you could buy and the shopowner gets ****y when you dont buy anything. ____________________________________ Taggart wants YOU. The Point is that if u refuse the mission, u get a new one. If u only close the Window the Mission remains. Its made for the case if u have to get something from the market which isn't available.

I think that those are the missions which you would get a new agent if you didnt refuse it :/ ____________________________________ Taggart wants YOU. Join TTi! *waves his hand in your face in the jedi way* |

I doubt that... They usually were 'repeating missions' (the ones you see over and over again). I never refused them, and I don't recall getting agents from those missions.

they are just normal missions, I had lots of them. I also once refused one, same results as failing (corp, faction and agent standing lowered) but without increasing the "failed missions" counter. The standing drop is twice the increase that you would get otherwise. So you need to complete two missions to have the same standing as before refusing it.

there is a major wording difference between a regular job, and one where you will get a new agent. I always thought refusing just dropped your standing a little. .
