yes. exactly. It's what i wanted to say but in corect english!
edit: I play with 2 clients at the same time. It works. But when it lags it has nothing to do with the fact that I have 2 clients, the servers lag, not my client.

How to reduce lag in big corp ops/fleet action..
I normally say to all my corp members just kill all the hostiles, then you got no lag

So you can pick them off to protect your tacklers and reduce lag. Never seen it done in a fleet battle myself as it would be cluttered as hell, but thats why they show on my overview Pain in the butt to target them manually, having to chase a small fast moving icon through ship icons.... I like to think of myself as the chlorine in the gene pool.

wouldnt it be more effective to just kill the drone carrier? you get a nice killmail and he usually stops shooting at you. taking out five drones at once > *

Lag sucks. player created lag double sucks. I know how u are doing it, shame on u and watch out. And in this movie -V- propably launched drones to reduce lag... even outnumbering Red gang 2vs1.

Now you have seen, now you know it. That's what our pilots have to face constantly in fleet battles. Most of the time >50% of the fleet can't see and/or do anything. But you just keep talking about skills... :( _______________________________________________ If ifs and ands were pots and pans, I would grow mushrooms in my pants. |

In terms of the game rules we will await your "apparent" petition with anitcipation.
The gm's will find that we are doing nothing wrong, and I am 100% confident of this.
Thank you.

Edited by: Toyal Wiulaz on 11/01/2006 15:00:23 useless thread. all the hints are for client side only. Even with all those things "off" you gonna lag anyways in fleet battles because the server aint strong enough and keep tracking of player when the cluster is too busy. Thats why some of you arent lagging and some player are. CCP must fix server, change the netcode and the way things work with their database.
They was no lag with an average of 12k player at peek time. Now we got like 15k player all the time with peak time around 20k.
edit: spelling or trying to :)

As addition to the OP:
When you leave p&p open/re-open keep it to your agent list, since this probably the least occupied and you can still change destinations with the searchthingy. Lag is a lot less when you re-open it.

since your bookmarks are not stored client side its reasonable to assume that once you jump into a system adn your p&p reloads it will lag. Now, imagine 60 people jumping in and the server having to send out p&p info for each person. Would that not cause more server side lag with all the extra work?
What about turning your log off like someone else sugested. If you unckeck all the log features the server doesnt have to send 150people in one system extra information. Would that not also reduce server side lag?
The less information the server has to send to 150 people the better.

i agree with you Raid. But its not only 150 players will make a difference in a specific system doing a fleet battle. Because usely the p&p windows is already closed and i dont understand why you will have it open anyways hehe.
For the log maybe it can change something. People have to try it and tell us about it. But the server as so many things to handle that arnt 150 players closing p&p windows and turning off the log that will help. the communauty grow up too quickly for the server and CCP should optimize the way client and server talk to each other.
and i can understant those who love fleet battle and getting pwnd by that lag and not by their ennemy when you cant active any module because the server lost your ship and trying to find it back. When it does in his 32bit head its say: "oh **** he's already dead". Pouf he tell to the client: "yo tell to the player is dead and cloned". i'm wrong?

Lol... I usually take the 8step approach... Female Amarr pilots , Male Amarr pilots.. Female Gallente ... etc :)
But did you hear the news? the lag is gone! :)

Tell the person to do the following things: * Turn of his game music and sounds compleetly Esc - Tab Audio - un-sellect "Audio Enabled". * Use the buttons ctrl+alt+shift+R and T * Under esc-Generic un-select the option "sun is occluded by ship" * Same option "trails on/off" * Same spot the option "log chat to fild" * Under the tab - Graphics adjust his "color depth" * Same tab - Device settings "Multisample type" - Disabled. * Same Device settings "Present Interval" - Interval Immediate"
Iam not telling that these settings are the solution to his or all of yours problem, they can only help to recude it so far. At least its a worth trying.
To come back on the respond about drones. They are a legit combat weapon and i been flying in some gangs now. The only reason our gangs would launch drones if we would thing the battle would be a losing one or if the enemy would have alot of tacklers. -V- for sure is not launching drones to lag anyone out.
Regards, Freya Selene.

I've found that the best way to reduce lag is to stand up, sit down, stand up, sit down, pat your head and rub you belly while saying, "rubber baby buggy bumpers," run around your desk (or, if your desk is against a wall, crawl under it), then sit in your chair and spin around three times.
Works like a charm. . .

it supposedly also helps to extract all your STUFF files so the game engine does not have to extract it in real time
I wonder if anyone has any real statistics on that claim though.

As someone pointed out these client-side fixes are generally useless. The game used to be "playable" in absolutely HUGE fleets of a couple of hundred per side at one time (I'm not saying perfect but I can remember some massive fights in the north) and then along come patches/content and more patches and the lag's horrendous.
Client-side my jacksy, sure you can try to reduce your lag client side, it's never gonna hurt, but surely the client side of things is graphics update speed etc. not "can't load battlefield for 5 minutes but you pop within 3" lag, it's very much throw the dice, cross your fingers and hope to be lucky and load in fleet these days..
