It is a package. You would install it like any other SMF Package. So first you need to install SMF, then install any desired packages.

Anyone having issues with SMF and this Module? Everytime I load the forum it loads a blank screen. IE, Fire Fox, Chrome, and Safari are all showing this on 3 different PCs. Trying to trouble shoot my hosting server as well but all of my other sites that use PHP and MySQL are loading fine. |

Seems the trend is that there are a lot of people who have issues, and then on the flip side of the coin, other people have no issues at all. Is this a new install or an existing install? Not sure what other information you can share. I assume the forum page loaded before you installed TEA and that it was only after the install that it stopped working?

Fresh install. I host the server myself. She's a virtual server and shares space with other sites. None of which have any PHP or MySQL load issues as they're all Wordpress sites. I'll blow away this install shortly and see if it was an issue with SMF before the module was added and report back. The virtual server has 8GB of RAM with 4 processing cores. Per linux commands I'm only using 3GB of RAM right now. I've been trying to find the command to increase memory allocation to MySQL but my Google skills seem to be off these days. |

More than enough RAM. We use recommend 2gb ram vps to run smf, ts3, jabber, evew, and SEAT. Just smf with TEA shouldn't use all that much

Ok. Someone try my site. http://de-14.bigracktech.com I've reinstalled SMF and TEA with the same issue locally. If you can get to the main page, try to register and see if that goes through. So far every browser and PC I've used hated both SMF and SMF with TEA. I've tried searching the SMF forums for a fix as well but my google skills still aren't up to par.

I get a blank page like you. when I view source, there is nothing there. Did SMF work prior to installing TEA? So you install TEA and load the forums and the page loaded? I assume yes since TEA is a plugin/add-on to SMF but figured I would ask. Do you have root access on your server?
Edit: after I wrote this I clicked the link a couple more times. It popped up 2x out of like 10-12 attempts. See screenshot: Screencapture

On a brand new VPS (nothing on it) we can do installs for between 3.5-4.5 bil. On an existing server the price is more due to how we install our images and more work to ensure we don't mess anything up.

Ok so I've shut Compressed Output off - no change, I've set the database connection to persistent - no change.
Could this be a CentOS thing? I see you run Ubuntu. I doubt it cares what Linux distro I'm using.
I'm going to build a VPS with nothing on it and install from scratch tomorrow night and see what happens then. Pretty strange that this is an issue that dates clear back to 2004 with SMF. Anyone else have any ideas to try out? Would love to have this software running for my corp and alliance. |

I would be surprised if it is a CentOS thing. You never answered the question whether the forums (SMF) worked prior to installing TEA. That would be pretty helpful. That would tell us if it is an SMF issue or TEA issue. I'm thinking SMF.
The symptoms go back to 2004. Doesn't mean your specific issues does. Narrow your search by using SMF 2.0...see what comes up. You should try some different searches to see what else you can come up with. I didn't really look very close, just that there was some stuff out there you could try.

Sorry I haven't replied. Looks like SMF went to version 2.0.11 - I've done a complete reinstall of SMF. By itself I get the blank screen errors. trying to find the PHP Error reporting on my control panel to see what information it provides. At this time I have not installed TEA. |

I've been working with my Control Panel support all weekend and we can't figure it to be an issue on our side.
What are the requirements for TEA? What PHP and MySQL versions are needed? I also cannot get anywhere with SMF Support. Anyway this module could be ported to MyBB or something that works better? |

Updating my Control Panel OS to CentOS 7.1 x64 to see if the newer versions of PHP and stuff help any. Will report back in a couple days. |

If you get errors with just SMF, then the issue doesn't have to do with TEA. I can tell you we don't use control panels for our installs and do everything on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64x. I am sure that doesn't help much aside to know that it does work for people. Let us know if you figure out the issue or make any progress. If I haven't suggest this already, I might recommend spinning up a temporary test server somewhere (like amazon ec2, or digital ocean) and running the install there to see if it works. If it works, you know the process you are following is correct and it is your configuration. If it doesn't work it could be the steps you use to install, or something unrelated (on smf's side).

One of the support techs found this:
Hi! Everyone who appears when you run Simple Machine Forum white page, see this post!
Problem: You tried installing Simple Machines Forum software (SMF) either from the source website or using Sentastico, but it shows as a blank page when you try to access it. No issues are seen in the ZpanelX or Sentora Error Log and all other configurations appear to be correct.
Solution : This issue is caused by suhosin security module which blocks the PHP function shell_exec() from being used. However, SMF appears to call this function in the Sources/Subs.php file, around line 3538 (line 3737 on version 2.0.11):
// Try the Linux host command, perhaps?
if (!isset($host) && (strpos(strtolower(PHP_OS), GÇÿwinGÇÖ) === false || strpos(strtolower(PHP_OS), GÇÿdarwinGÇÖ) !== false) && mt_rand(0, 1) == 1) { if (!isset($modSettings[GÇÿhost_to_disGÇÖ])) $test = @shell_exec(GÇÿhost -W 1 GÇÿ . @escapeshellarg($ip)); else $test = @shell_exec(GÇÿhost GÇÿ . @escapeshellarg($ip)); // Did host say it didnGÇÖt find anything? if (strpos($test, GÇÿnot foundGÇÖ) !== false) $host = GÇ¥; // Invalid server option? elseif ((strpos($test, GÇÿinvalid optionGÇÖ) || strpos($test, GÇÿInvalid query name 1GǦ)) && !isset($modSettings[GÇÿhost_to_disGÇÖ])) updateSettings(array(GÇÿhost_to_disGÇÖ => 1)); // Maybe it found something, after all? elseif (preg_match(GÇÿ~\s([^\s]+?)\.\s~GÇÖ, $test, $match) == 1) $host = $match[1]; }
This code block should be commented out by adding PHP comment tags :
// Try the Linux host command, perhaps?
/* if (!isset($host) && (strpos(strtolower(PHP_OS), GÇÿwinGÇÖ) === false || strpos(strtolower(PHP_OS), GÇÿdarwinGÇÖ) !== false) && mt_rand(0, 1) == 1) { if (!isset($modSettings[GÇÿhost_to_disGÇÖ])) $test = @shell_exec(GÇÿhost -W 1 GÇÿ . @escapeshellarg($ip)); else $test = @shell_exec(GÇÿhost GÇÿ . @escapeshellarg($ip)); // Did host say it didnGÇÖt find anything? if (strpos($test, GÇÿnot foundGÇÖ) !== false) $host = GÇ¥; // Invalid server option? elseif ((strpos($test, GÇÿinvalid optionGÇÖ) || strpos($test, GÇÿInvalid query name 1GǦ)) && !isset($modSettings[GÇÿhost_to_disGÇÖ])) updateSettings(array(GÇÿhost_to_disGÇÖ => 1)); // Maybe it found something, after all? elseif (preg_match(GÇÿ~\s([^\s]+?)\.\s~GÇÖ, $test, $match) == 1) $host = $match[1]; } */
This will fix the issue and allow SMF to work properly. The function is not necessary for the normal operation of the script, as other means are available to SMF to accomplish the same thing.

i am a bit confused. i set up a new smf2 and an openfire 3.10.2.
the integration with ts is running fine and even with openfire if i use the Users Service plugin. now i noticed for some options / extensions i have to use the REST API from openfire. if i check the tea_jabber_of.php i see urls to the Rest API and i see the get_rest function on the teac.php.
but if i deactivate the Users Service Plugin in openfire and activate the REST API, no users will be added anymore.
can somone give me some hints here?
the problem behind is that openfire can't assing groups as members to group chats. so i wanted to add the users to the rooms directly after it get created via User Service / Rest API. |

Running SMF 2.0.11, have a custom pages mod installed as well as a customized theme. Attempting to install TEA first resulted in the error about how Packages or a file in the directry is unwritable. I created a temp folder and CHMOD'd everything to 777, and upon clicking Install Mod I got a long list of .xml files with the message Modification Parse Error - as well as the entire SMF install throwing a 500 error.
I haven't seen anyone post a similar experience, but if I'm doing something wrong I sure can't figure out what exactly it is.
Any ideas? I'd really like to be able to employ this mod in my SMF install, but it's looking like a lost cause...

It would appear that the mods/theme you are using have modified files that the mod does and it cannot apply the changes to the files.
Try applying TEA before applying the mods or modify the code that TEA looks for to match your modified version. |

Attempting to do everything manually, n what directory should add_schedule.php, add_settings.php and del_schedule.php end up? Or, if attempting to install manually, are these things I should be manually doing as well...?
Did you hit the add_ files manually?
As per the files:

ATTENTION: If you are trying to INSTALL this package, please access it directly, with a URL like the following: http://www.yourdomain.tld/forum/add_settings.php (or similar.) ================================================================================
Also admin panel should appear by adding the modifications from mod_admin.xml |

Yes, I went navigated directly to the add_ files as well as the esam one (I assumed it needed to be hit upon since it went to the same directory). All mod_ changes were made and I've checked via hitting view/edit in my FTP client to see if those changes kept or if the file replacement action somehow didn't take. As far as I can tell, all of the edits are in place, no syntax errors.
I just noticed another spot Temar's shows up - the link it adds to the footer, with the copyright info and such.

Hi All,
I seem to have developed an issue where rules based on titles are not updating correctly. This has been working fine and I updated the rowset (awhile back) when had this issue with ccp changing the API. But now its very odd.
Just wondered if anyone else is having any issues with title based rules?

Finally fount the issue, now the mod is enabled and working!
Attempted to have it pull my avatar from eve, got this error:
The database value you're trying to insert does not exist: p_avatar
Hoped it would be common enough that the fix would be found easily in the thread... no such luck. Am poring over all the modified files now to see if there's some other little problem I missed, but if anyone knows the fix for this and wants to save me some time, I'd be grateful!

EDIT: Regarding rules, do I understand correctly that the rules defined in this image will mean that the forum checks API, finds that the user is in our corp and assigns them Usergroup 'Peddler' and if the user also has Mining Frigate level 1 then they will also be assigned Usergroup 'Prospector'? Is that correct?
From a rule/group perspective. your Main group rule, any one account should only fall into one rule. So you'd maybe to do a corp/alliance rule, maybe do an invalid, maybe do a red rule, maybe do a blue rule. Everything else should probably fall under additional. Also, you'd probably want to make any rule to include your corp info. The way you have it now, anyone could sign up on your forum and as long as they have mining frigate, they would get the group, even if they have nothing to do with your corp. Not sure if that was what you were looking for...

Hey All,
my issue seems to be that the eve tea isnt updating at all. Everything seems to be working ok when I click update a profile, or run checks but no status changes are happening with any of my rules. I tried clearing the tea_smf_cache table and then tried to run the cronjob again it seems to run but nothing is in the cache table and no changes happen?
I dont seem to be getting any visible errors and just wondered if any guru has any ideas?
Thanks.
Nori.

I resolved the issue by deleting the cache again.. then when running the checks had an error for one of the API ids, I deleted this user from the api table and tried again then everything worked.
Just posting here if it helps anyone else in future.
Cheers,
Nori.
