Right, i spottedanother topic that intrests me, as long as i have a MacBookPro 2006 issue, i have some ideas to add... In my short term experince with apple Macintosh computers i discovered the following facts - MAC OS X just can't run *.exe application files natively (common knowledge), but the supplied 3rd party software solutions enable MAC computer to run operating systems other OS X.
First of all there is a bootcamp utility mainlyintended for MS windows installation in a separate partition on your harddrive. My numerous experiments with this (bootcamp 1.3 puiblic beta) intriguing piece of software has left me with a conlusion to give up Running MS windows Products on my Macintosh computer. First of all, public beta 1.3 drivers are not suffiecient to enbable proper support of networking and communications (wi-fi, LAN and web cam won't work), thus defeating the purpose of running EVE client from any location in my house. Secondly, the malicious nature of Windows family products threatens MacBook with excessive overheating and inevitably permanent hardware damage... The top surface of the notebook keyboard panel heats up to 40 - 50 degrees celcius, causing emergency hardware shutdown occasionaly whenrunning 3D environment games. (Summertime temperature can reachas high as 35 degree outside and around 32 indoors, however Mac OS X natively operates at indoors temperature or lower when measured upper keyboard surface). Don't even think of running MS windows on your laps when playing around with Mac Bootcamp 1.3 - the heat is bad for your genetals (scientific fact, focus magazine, UK). And finally MS Windows Xp and Vista are not designed for sophisticated business and graphics applications, so to say you need not a Mac to run the afore mentioned operatin sytems. It is only up to Leopard release in October 2007, which promises to bring full driver support and improvements to Windows powermanagement.
Another way to run Windows OS, suitable for processing .exe excecutable files is to install 3rd party multi OS shell software, something like parallels, which has been stated to run MS Windows system with full hardware support in a window and fullscreen mode on OS X Leopard, beta build. The developers have reported being able to install up to 8.3 Direct X files and run sophisticated 3D environment games on it. This is to be a parralles 3.0 version, which is supposed to be released soon.
Currenlty I have tried parralles 2.0, running WIndows XP and Vista as virtuall machine and limited hardware support (no communications and only 32 Mbytes of Video Memory). This only allows you to view web pages in native Explorer browser with Java support, and use some simple Office and Dictionary programs. Finally running Windows through bootcamp doesn't make me happy either, as the overheating has cause my laptop crash many times and lack of wi-fi really defeats the purpose of running EVE on hi-end laptop.
The only feasible solution to all this is simply to wait till OS X leopard comes out to challenge the MS for direct3D applications environment and implement the seamless Windows operation on Macintosh hardware plaforms.
Damm it, damm it, damm it... the total cost of macinstosh ownership is much lower than those of MS Windows PC, why the hippy on earth id i buy Vista Ultimate? Is it subliminal messaging? Or just me being pathetic before luring Bill Gates charm? Still My eve don't run... not on mac and not on Vista x64 ... rofl
